Don't you think it's SCUMMY that Microsoft is hiding these Intel based 15" devices on a secret menu?? To obtain the GOOD intel version. specifically request is at the Microsoft Store. Or go here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-laptop-3-for-business/93n7b0kdzncc
Probably due to the cpu shortages from Intel. That and AMD probably gave them a really good deal on their product as well, meaning Microsoft can make more profit at the same time
I would love this laptop if it had full sized arrow keys. Have big fingers, also sift through lots of data / documents. Those tiny half/half up down keys are the worst.
The fact is, Dave did that to demonstrate how good the balance this device is. Like other videos which people put a phone into a bucket of water, not because they are buying a phone to get it wet!
It’s fucking irritating. I want to see discussion on Microsoft’s new laptops but no, people think BOOK SPINNING (remember, Dave just adapted it to laptops) is some Lovecraftian black magic that can only be done by the megasupreme. GROW UP. LET’S DISCUSS TECHNOLOGY.
Recently discovered your channel while looking for a new laptop. By far one of the best review sites on RU-vid. You already know this but here's some validation: 1) short, classy intro. 2) conscise, relavant info. 3) even pacing 4) great diction, clarity of audio, meaningful comments. My heart was already taken by Lisa at MTR, but you are my next go-to tech channel.
@@sriicasm it's pretty much what I got as an uneducated workhorse without any skills directly after my graduation and before college. It's about 9$ per hour it's really not that much is it ...?
@@tadx6184 in your country, maybe not. But when you convert that amount onto other currencies it kinda creates quite a tiny fortune. $1200 is like ₹85K, you can get a lot of stuff in that here. Also, that laptop with import duties and other shit added will most probably cross ₹100K. Btw, this is just an fyi. I don't mean to undermine what you earned through hardwork and time.
When I they announced this, I was immediately discouraged that this was 14nm Zen+ vs Intel 10nm, and this is why. What they needed was a Zen 2 version.
I was skeptic at first on your idea of shorter videos but I found myself picking up your videos because they're short so kudos man. Keep up the videos, I love your reviews
Of course, every single video from you deserve a like and comment. Just as you feed us with true information and real pain points on the devices. Keep on it Dave!
I bought the lowest configuration 13.5" matte black (i5 / 8GB ram / 256GB storage). I'm doing a review on it myself for my channel if anyone is curious on my user experience. I've had it for a couple days now as I did pre-order it and it just came in recently. SO FAR, I've had no issues with it and hope it stays that way. But I will continue to use it for another week before my video gets uploaded just so I get more time with my hands on use with it. And yeah, I don't play games with it, it is purely a mobile productivity device for me, typing up my scripts for youtube videos, answering emails, communicating with business partners etc... purposely got the lowest config is so it separates me from my gaming PC.
Hey Dave, yeah I am loving my 13.5” Sandstone....one thing is the screen is a little shiny and reflective. Speed is awesome for what I use it for. Keyboard is better than I thought it would be as I absolutely love and rate the Surface Book keyboard as the best on the market.
Yow Dave love your videos man., they are very useful and informative. Would like to ask if, do you have any video for "Top 5 or maybe 10 laptops for video Editing/Gaming" probably categorized to cheap and expensive ones? Thank you!
I got the 13" Intel i-5 w/ 8GB RAM/258 GB config at Costco in early December. I am impressed by the industrial design of the unit. It's no nonsense study aluminum at close to the thinnest and lightest form factor imaginable. I got the all black one and it's an understated stunner.. The screen is 3:2 so you might be sure that this ratio is good for you. It makes for a great compact and light laptop with high resolution for documents with barely dequate landscape for film and video. The screen is impressive in resolution and brightness although it is not as edge to edge bezel free as the latest Dell XPS laptop. What it has is the latest Intel chipsets. As of Dec 2019 few laptops have this. This is a big factor in my decision to try Microsoft. I could have got a Dell XPS 15 (w/ 9th gen Intel) at Costco for about $100 more (both laptops were discounted for the Holidays), but I went for the Microsoft as I say it as more idiosyncratic in some of it's design choices as well as having the latest CPU. Now, I've used it for a good enough time to have some opinions about it. This is a fast laptop with most all of your personal and business needs. I'm simply overjoyed by the no lag response on almost anything you can throw at it. The keyboard is nicely tactile with good feedback and decent travel. The brightness of the screen and the loudness of the audio leave little to criticize. I have adequate connectivity although it isn't overly generous in this department, yet it's good enough certainly. I'm going to cut to the chase and tell you the things I wish were better or changed: 1.) the battery life isn't as good as my 2013 MBAir and I expect that machine is a reasonable benchmark. It only gets about 5.5 hours for my use and the MBAir gets just shy of 8... 2.) The trackpad isn't on the same plane as the Apple trackpad. It's often a little sluggish and then snaps to it as if it didn't miss a beat. Sometime it has a mind of its' own sending me to places on the net I never clicked on - even when dumbed down to low sensitivity. And, finally 3.) This has new Wi-Fi 6 compatibility and all I can say is this is the biggest disappointment for the whole Surface Laptop 3 experience. The Wi-Fi 6 is slower than the mid-2013 MACBOOK AIR...not even close. I have a Linksys AX Wi-Fi wireless modem and it really made my old 2013 MacBook Air take flight speed-wise. On the other hand this Surface 3 must have some internal problems such as poor antennas or simply a poor Wi-Fi card. The Wi-Fi 6 protocol and this laptop having compatibiolty is chief of my reasons to purchase. That said I'm mightily disappointed and will almost assuredly return this laptop.
