@kryoruleroftheninthcircleo4151 I also recall hearing she can be defeated in some tellings. I can't recall exactly, but I know that if you answer some questions correctly, she stops pursuing you. Ok I've found it. If she asks you where her legs are you have to answer "Meishin railway" the she asks who told you that you answer "mask death demon."
Teke teke is japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of her nails scraping along the ground as she crawls, the story goes that a girl was pushed onto the train tracks by bullies and cut in half and now shes a vengeful spirit who chases and cuts people in half and its based on a real urban legend like the slit mouthed woman legend.
The story is so new to him that he was freaked out by an old lady as if he was some kind of puritan! also, was she a schoolgirl when she died, or was that a mistranslation?
@ColdDarkSoul she was a schoolgirl when she passed according to the urban legend and she haunts the railway track in the form of a schoolgirl who is cut in half at the waist, she uses her arms to drag herself along the ground and I believe she's vengeful as people ignored the fact she was being bullied and didn't step in to help but I could be wrong on that part.
You'd think if these spirits were smart, they would only enact their revenge on those specific bullies and not innocent bystanders minding their own business.
@Boomblox5896 the belief like with most spirirts is they are tied to the place they die or like the case with teke teke she can only move in and around train tracks near where she passes away
"He's such a freak" I have no idea why, but anytime in these horror games, Jack calls one of these creepy things a freak, it always makes me laugh more than it probably should.
@@generalgrievous4254wtf, the button just wasn't shown until pointing on lady's body for a second. And it's easier to miss something while you're recording
Could Gab be any cooler? She speaks multiple languages, she’s a master at finding fun games, she has a great sense of humour, she seems like a genuine and kind person… I honestly would not be surprised to find out she also has a pilot’s license, a black belt in martial arts, and an Olympic gold medal in archery.
I loved the last game, I interpreted it as a metaphor for sexual abuse in childhood. Some attackers will promise a child that “this is the last time” and then ask for more and more later. They make a child think they’re safe when they’re not. Using manipulative phrases like “you’re a true friend” or “you wouldn’t want to disappoint me” is common in sexual abuse in children. I thought that was pretty interesting. It completely changes every detail of the game and shows you its far more sinister than a scary cheese monster.
I noticed that too. It being a representation of grooming, and even starting out as something that doesn't seem like a bad thing, is putting the child in danger. then the manipulation when the child tries to stand up for themself. The part that really got me, was how"gathering cheese" started hurting the child, not just scaring them.
To add onto this theory, Lupin means wolf, and the music box showed a little kid in red. The story of red riding hood is meant to be a warning for young girls to not trust “wolves” (strange men) because they will trick you and “eat” you. Mr. Lupin is the wolf Susie is red riding hood Also, I read your comment before getting to the game Yeah… uh… getting to the game makes this super disturbing From the start it’s unnerving and when it gets to the “remove the wrapping paper” bit near the start the assumption there is horrific. And it just. Gets. Worse. Edit: Ew ew ew “that was delicious, Susie” no no no no no complimenting her and making her feel appreciated and asking for more??? No no no no no
@@stacyaaa9471 i kid you not 😂 i had my earbuds in too so my dog didn’t even hear jack say it 😭 but I was smiling thinking “ofc jack would try and jumpscare us with this, gotta love it but thankfully it’ll never happen fr” but ofc I was still a little freaked out because that girl was terrifying…so when my dog growled in his sleep it scared me fr because I’m like- did HE SENSE HER IN THE ROOM 🤣 the timing was crazy and he’s never growled in his sleep before
indie game suggestion here: The bunny graveyard I think is the most underrated game I have EVER seen. Amazing storytelling and art and is made by just two guys. It deserves all the attention in the world and is absolutely a game I feel you would love.
Hey Sean, I don't know if you will see this but thank you for everything. About 5 years ago I went through a very hard time in my life and without meaning to, you saved my life. your PMA campaign, the way you picked yourself up and kept going.... I'm 32 now and engaged, so not only am I happy for my existence but so is someone else... well she put up with me. You taught me that ADHD is a gift, you taught me to always look up, even when the only way to look is down. I hope one day to meet you for a second and shake your hand, however, if I never do say hello to you, I want to write this comment to tell you once and for all how much significance you have had in my life... and millions of others. Thank you so much bro.... your an actual living legend. don't let anyone tell you different.
Every now and then I go back and watch Jack’s play-through of The Beginner’s Guide. It’s surreal reality blended with the emotional story all while Sean relates to it, it’s always refreshing.
ADHD - while it has a couple advantages - is definitely not a gift lol, but Sean's videos are definitely a valid form of therapy, nobody can tell me otherwise. Watched his videos for years and will do so even when he stops making videos.
Omg same! I was literally about to comment this before deciding to come down to the comments section to see if it jumpscared anyone else and voilà! Here your comment is! Haha.
Its crazy how far the smiling man story has gone. I remember listening to Corpse Husband or maybe it was Mr. Nightmare reading this story. Then i saw an animation of this and then a live action short. And now an interactive story game? This was awesome!
Yeah, didn't he watch a short horror film based on this also? I know I saw the film, but I wouldn't have looked for it myself, and Sean is only one I follow whom i know did several vids of reacting to horror shorts. Edit: Yep, he remembered.
That last one was definitely an allegory for something a tad sinister. Something to do with manipulation of not so adult people, to say it a little more tactfully. Gave me some chills, that one.
I was watching this and as the smiling man turned to face the camera and gave Sean a fright my dog came over to me and I turned around and just saw his face in the light, gave me the fright of my life😂
I already watched this video and came back after watching Markpilier play, just wanted to point out the book on the table at 3:20 is METAMORPHOSIS! I can't tell whether that is the coolest or worst Easteregg ever...
@@DarkDisquiet3774 it doesn’t say u replied to me but i’m gonna respond anyways, obviously there’s outlast, ddlc, literally any older video he’s played … that one house game, etc! don’t be a dick :3
It's no exaggeration how quiet Japan is during the night, especially in the more suburban areas of places like in Kyoto. Everyone is serious about noise in the evening
I loved the “Smiling Man” short from 2015! It’s so cool that people are turning it into a game. I’m not sure if the short came first or if there was a creepypasta or something before it, but it was always so disturbing
i used to watch you like 5 years ago when i was younger you were my childhood and to this day i still watch you thank you for making these amazing videos even if you dont see this❤
Could just be me but did anyone else notice that the character you play as in the first game was reading Metamorphosis, the book was laying next to the laptop.
The main reason games like teketeke take place in rural japan is because the monster is usually a form of yokai, metaphysical mythical beings that haunted ancient japan, so the rural environment builds an aesthetic for the monster.
man seeing that second game was such a cool nostalgia trip. I remember first hearing about the smiling man story when Corpse Husband uploaded a video narrating that story among other ones, it has to at least be 5-6+ years old now. And even then i always imagined the smiling man to appear very similarly to the appearance in this game. Shaded eyes with focus on that cartoony smile plastered to his face. watching that game truely felt like i was being taken back in time, hella cool
The second game's "main story" is based on a real story shared by someone on the internet i think, although if it's true or not is up for debate, i've definitely heard that exact story before
The Smiling man remembered me of a reddit story that you can listen to on some yt scary stories... and I am pretty sure it is the same one. Long gone repressed memory. Chilling. Thank you Jack for... bringing it up xD
Loved the Halloween narration in the beginning! 🎃😁 Also I knew I saw something related to the Smiling Man on your channel before. That's a really creepy story. I wonder what would happen if you just mirror his behaviour, smile at him and also dance creepy. 😄 Also really liked the voice you gave Lupin! That's some real voice acting skills! 🙌 Can't wait for more spooky content, it's the best season of the year! 🎉😌👻
Jack is so funny. I love how patient and curious he is in video games because that tends to be where part of the opportunities come from for him to be funny. Like in the store where he went to see who walked in, only caught part of the woman walking around the shelf and when he went to the other side and she didn't pop out (which I was also expecting bc I'm watching this for the first time) he was confused and went to look. If he had been elsewhere in the store, that never would have happened. Love watching Jack play games.
@@snacc_size I got blasted with nostalgia when o saw it. I was like "hold up . . . . . I know this" then that angelical theme from the menu started playing in my head!
JACK, I have to say I’ve been following for a while and my ptsd has been really awful lately. I find myself able to forget things and just sit and enjoy your videos. Thank you truly for all you do!
The editing and zooming in on Jack’s face after he gets jumpscared is just 🤌🏼🤌🏼 also I’m watching this, it’s storming in uk. It’s adding to the mood and my fear bar is 📈📈📈📈📈
That first game got me... So much so that my dog came to see if I was ok, haha! I'm so glad you posted a video today. The world is weird and scary right now and I needed a night of Sean playing horror games! It's spooky season!!! Hooray!!
I know this probably won't seen by who I want it to be seen but I just wanted you Jacksepticeye to know that you have changed my life entirely I've been watching you sense I was 11 years old (I'm almost 22 now) and when I started watching you was probably one of the most lowest points in my life I've always suffered from depression but I had no friends and no one to help me with it except your videos it gave me a brief break from everything and gave me a chance to actually smile again and since I was able to push through the suicide thoughts, I made some pretty awesome friends who always have my back and still do. I'm married as well, and we got our first dog, but I'd just like to say from the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you, Jacksepticeye so much for being what I needed at my lowest and darkest times I'm still dealing with depression but it's nowhere near the level it was. So again, thank you, Jack. Thank you for being the amazing, caring person you've always been and one I strive to be like.
From personal observations of watching people walk while out in public, generally the direction people's feet face first determines which direction they're likely to go because it seems like you "think with your feet vs your head" in regards to deciding direction if that makes sense.
I like when Jack was trying to pronounce teketeke and he said tiki tiki the only thing I was thinking right now was the SpongeBob episode of Squidward's tiki land 😂😂
second game/story is i think based off a real story , i am a sucker for horror stories, especially Mr.Nightmare and this story was one of the first ones he narrated, still remember it.
The smiling man game was also insanely close to a story I heard from Mr. Nightmare, same idea and almost exact same telling. Glad it was demonstrated in such a manner.
The first smiling man game is the alternate path (but with some visual changes). There are other endings though. You got the shortest one: the good ending.
