As an Oled babysitter, I had to subscribe to this channel to get over this TV before I develop BP problem.

Just did the refresher for the first time in 2 years because youtube stuff is burned into my panel. I was amazed that it completely fixed it so i went to look up how it worked, found your video luckily to inform me not to overuse it.

I have the 2022. LG OLED G2 77 inch. The TV popped up with a message to do the pixel cleaning for the first time since the TV is around 6 months old. I use mine around 3 to 4 hours a day maximum. I performed the pixel cleaning and it took 8 to 10 minutes and the Tv came back on. I’ll be sure to do this on a rare basis. This was a good video

Had a grey mark across the screen in a blob and used the Pixel Cleaning and it did the job, cheers 👍🏻

Gonna leave this comment here because I think it answers a lot of the questions in the comments... There are 2 types of pixel refresh, which LG does not explain in their menu (and they don't provide a manual). Every time you turn your TV off with the remote and leave it in standby, if 4 hours of use have passed since the last refresh, it automatically does a soft refresh which takes a few minutes. The option in the menu is for a hard refresh which should be done manually after every 2000 hours of use and takes 10 to 60 minutes to run. But it doesn't explain that in the menu, it says to run it "regularly" which most people would translate as "often". It gets worse though. I turn my TV off with the button, not the remote, because I'm using the TV as a monitor for my PC, and then I power it off at the mains. So the auto refresh isn't running and every few days I got a pop-up asking me to allow the refresh to run now (which I skip because I want to use my computer) or to run it manually from the menu. So I've ran it from the menu about 5 times since buying the TV on Black Friday. There are no warnings that this is bad. Every few days, it is literally telling me to run the refresh from the menu and in there it says to run it regularly. LG need a good beating for this. Basically: turn your TV off with the remote and leave it on standby and the TV will automatically take care of the pixel refresh itself. Avoid using the menu option unless you notice a problem with the screen or if you believe you've used the TV for over 2000 hours since the last manual refresh. You won't destroy your TV by running it from the menu a few times. I've done it 5 times over a few months and my screen is still perfect. But I'm going to stop doing the manual refresh now and just let the auto refresh run when the TV is in standby.

Just bought the A1 65” and am very happy with it EXCEPT… the so-called “manual” is just awful. It took hours and hours of hunting on the net to find the info I needed. Then I found you! Your work is greatly appreciated…. And PLEASE tell LG to get on the ball with their manuals.

My new LG G4 had bad vertical banding out of the box. One manual Pixel refresh fixed like 95% of the banding. It was night and day and kept me from returning it. LG wouldn't have this option available if using it was going to damage your screen, they would have hid it in the service menu. All it does is readjust the pixel voltage to make sure all the pixels are producing light more evenly.

So whats difference if the cleaning occurs every day after 4 hour of use compared to one time manually ? If someone watches tv for more than 8 hours a day it will clean 2 times/day isnt that more harmful in the long run too then ?

Just purchased an LG C3 77" OLED and loving it! Looked around on the internet for info on the pixel cleaning. Not much definitive advice from LG. But, then I saw your video, what you say makes sense. But, my question is, If the TV itself performs a pixel cleaning every 4 hours, why would it hurt for me to do it on a regular basis? It seems the auto tv cleaning every 4 hours would be way more excessive than me doing it periodically.

Some people seem to turn their TV off at the mains after use, and I used to do this too until I checked the power being drawn by the TV, after switching off using the remote, and with an in-line power meter connected. After the auto-pixel cleaning has finished (draws around 30W during this op) the power drawn by the TV doesn't register on the meter, which can show a minimum of 0.1W. Effectively zero. I now have the TV on it's own socket and don't turn it off at all. My TV is a OLED 48 C2.

I uncheck the care recommendations and the adjust logo brightness to higher, btw thank you good info

@The Tech Giant I really love watching your reviews, very informative. I was hesitant about buying an OLED model, but after watching some of your reviews and bought the C1 65". Damn it is really amazing. I am really happy that I did not select the samsung QN85A over C1. Concerning the burn-in, to my understanding LG designed he pixel refresher to run automatically after 4 hours of accumulative usage.

You should be paid by LG. Just bought an OLED from them after being in a long doubt because I have read about burn in problems. But this video and you other about automatically and other user reviews give me the confidence to buy this.

My tv had vertical lines right out of the box. Ran the pixle refresher and it fixed it. Saved me from shipping it back.

Great video. However, it would have been nice if you went into more detail explaining what exactly pixel refresher does and how it correlates to shortening the life of your display. Also, how does it compare to those YT videos you run for 10+ hours that claim to fix burn in? Anyway, I just ran mine on my LG C3 42" I've had for about 6 months after i noticed burn-in from a video game that has some static images (high brightess white text). Thankfully it fixed the burn-in and looks good as new. I'll definitely be more careful with static images in games and hiding UI elements. Glad the pixel refresher did work and only took about 10 minutes to do so.

Had an LG C9 for three years, zero burn in and ive never used the manual pixel refresher. The process runs after every 4 hours of use, and then it does the manual refresher every 12 months automatically. Only use it if you start to notice some image retention.

Bit confused. Isn't the pixel cleaning function automatically activates pixel cleaning on stand by once every 4 hours the tv was on? What's the difference from what you're talking about ?

Have an older LG65C6P with severe image retention. LG Tech told me t run the manual pixel refresher 5 times. Problems with the panel and pixel retention became much worse after running it the 5 times.

I seriously wish I knew this, I was so worried from burn in because I use it for both a pc and TV that I ran the manual pixel refresher probably 5-10 times in the course of 3 months. I don't know why they don't put a description saying only run it if you see any image retention.

Definitely an essential bit of viewing for an OLED owner, however all Manufacturers should put a warning and multiple prompts so owners know it’s not something that can be done constantly with no consequence.

Thank you for the informative videos...as this information is very helpful. I just got a 48" C1 that I am using as a PC monitor with my gaming PC. I've also hooked up my PS5 and Switch dock to the C1 as well... and I love it!!! Going from a LED to an OLED is like going back to my Samsung plasma, but in 4K. My daughter uses our 10 yr old 65" 1080p Samsung plasma for her PS5 (previously PS4), and we still have had no burn in issues despite thousands of hours of gaming.

I’ve had my LG CX OLED since it came out in 2020 I believe it was and use it heavily for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and watching television and still haven’t had the 2000 hour reminder to run the manual pixel refresh. If I do get it soon after 3 years and I run it and get another 3 years or more of constant use out of it then that’s pretty good going. Likelihood is that I’d potentially be looking to upgrade around then or slightly before if there are any significant improvements or additional features added to newer OLED televisions that the consoles could take advantage of for gaming

Sony used qdoled lg uses woled , they are inherently very different technology. Panel refresh tech is different from both.

What about the automatic pixel refreshing function? Should that be deactivated?

I used it maybe once or twice already. I hope that is negligible if I don’t touch it again. To be fair, LG aren’t exactly transparent about this. There is no obvious indication that Pixel Refresh happens automatically. There is also zero warning on the TV itself regarding the manual use of the feature. I certainly would have had no idea were it not for running into this video.

I ran this once on my TV however when i turned it off it did not last an hour. It seemed to take the same amount of time as the auto refresher, even making the clicking noise after about ten minutes to indicate it was finished. I had the TV on for more than 4 hours before i tried manually pixel cleaning too so i am just wondering if there is a safety feature on these TV's that only run the short pixel cleaner even if you try running the manual one, if it has been turned on for more than 4 hours?

Today a vertical white line appeared on my LG OLED set and I ran across this video in search of something that might help fix it. I’ll run the pixel refresh tonight but I don’t think it’s going to work for my problem.

I have LG CX OLED Tv for 3 years now best way is to keep OLED back light on at 50. Then run pixel refresher every 3 months to keep the burn in off the TV. I have 3300 hours on the tv. If your going to get oled tv just make sure you have dark room. My tv will last about 5 years my friend or long because ppl keep their OLED Light up to 70 or 80 will kill your tv faster.

iv just got my first oleg (g3) im guessing this 10 min manual pixel cleaning thing that the tv does after every 4 hours of use cant be mistakenly turned off? it has 2 options in the menu, one of them is a one off refresh, then bellow that it has another option that says do often

Two months ago I bought my LG C3 OLED and I couldn't be happier with it, the quality is spectacular. However, as with any large purchase, one researches the care that must be taken, and that was when I read about the famous burn in, I had read that it was necessary to clean the pixels of the panel regularly to prevent possible burning, well, even the LG itself recommends that you do so. So...in a moment of paranoia I started cleaning the pixels manually at least once a week or two, My question is if at this point, after having cleaned the pixels manually at least 4 or 5 times in these two months, I could have caused damage to the television, the truth is that it is as if nothing had happened and it continues to look just as good as the first day, but I am afraid to know that because I have done that pixel cleaning I am no longer seeing the image as I should.

I had my LG B9 Oled since 2019 when it first came out so 3 years now I know people say do not but I run my TV from 10 a.m when my daughter gets up till 12 - 2 a.m every day all day I still have no burn in or anything i also play PS5 and Xbox I also do the pixel refresher once a week sometimes once every two weeks while I’m sleeping it seems to be working out for me

I am currently in search of a new tv. Not really a tech or even more a TV guy . My wife loved how these oled looked in a shop.After a 1min search i found about the burn in danger. Tbh this is absolutely outrageous and shows the standars we currently have. 20 years ago that kind of product would be canceled . Spending 1k or more for something that almost certainly will have a damaged screen (cause what is actually is) is outrageous. When we transitioned to led and tfts etc we would get a burned pixel or hear about them. Me personally i only got a single burned pixed on a 2002 pc monitor.And since then i had like 15 tv and pc monitors. Also, what you pointed out makes it even more outrageous because if this function according to Sony must not be performed very often and LG or other brands perform it "automatically" means the product itself is designed to reduce it's life cycle forcing you to spend the same or even more money sooner than you expected. Instead of actually fixing the problem, they added a thing that might be not be working in favour of the customer. Thats ingenious ! ;D I am almost 40...and this is outrageous. lol

Just to share my experience with my lg oled tv. LG B7V. Bought it in 2018 and I was of course very happy with it. It does suffer from burn in quite badly lately and that is why I replaced it 2 months ago. I moved the old lg at another room and decided after so many years to run the pixel refresher in case it could improve the burn in situation. That was the worst thing I could do to my tv because right after the refresh the colours were deteriorated and there is a yellow tint all over the panel now and not only where the burn in was . Don’t know why they have this feature available if it destroys the panel right after you do it. So just a piece of advice : NEVER RUN PIXEL REFRESHER ON YOUR LG OLED TV

I recently had my LG C1 OLED kind of died, on any HDMI have green and red lines. however on built in APPs youtube, netflix etc picture is perfectly fine. i've tried different hdmi cables and different ports and different sources, all have the same result.

I wish that these terms were standardized for Oled tech itself, my AW3423DW has both pixel refresh and panel refresh, pixel refresh is different for the monitor than is panel refresh, whereas I look at the LG menu you show and pixel refresh seems to be the same as panel refresh. I'm just thinking about removing icons from my desktop and just using file explorer, I already have my desktop background as true black and downloaded a nifty utility to change the task bar and window panels to true black, so, that should help preserve the panel life already. Hell, I hardly use icons on my desktop as is, so, it's not like I'll miss anything.

That is weird. I had a few stuck pixels when I had my C7. The supposed LG professional on the phone told to use it five or six times in a row and that should help the pixels become unstuck. 🤔 I guess the supposed LG professionals do not know what they are saying. 😮 Thanks for the info! 👍

I contected the LG service and asked them if it will damage my panel after i ran so many times already ... The answer i got was no. ( I had to wait few hours til they gave me the answer from a product specialist. ) But they want thier customers to use their OLED TV as any other TV. The recommendation i got was of course not to run so many times bc it was not necessary and tv will run it self automatically when it's off. But i don't know why i still feel like i fucked up my new TV 😂

Hello tech giant my lg oled always goes into this panel noise clearing thing everytime i turn it off and it doesnt even finish after many hours and it still wants to do this after many hours when turn tv on and off again. I even did a tv reboot and unplugged it and it still doesnt stop this tv from trying to do this pixel refresher/panel noise clearing. One thing is for sure after many hours i left this tv off and it did this the picture is like super clear and sharp.

Ok we have a Hisense 55A9G that presumably has the same panel as C1 and the TV has 2 different types of "refreshing" one is a automatical "soft-like" refresher that refreshes pixel voltage after the TV was working for maybe at least 3 hours and was turned off (you can also start manualy this operation but it's not needed cuzz it's doing already on it's own) and there is a "hard" version I would say that states to use it only once a year the same as Sony does for their TV's. . . :-D PS: I forgot to mention the automatic refresher is short like max 10 minutes where the hard manual one is around 1 hour just like LG's. The second one is probably much more agressive and is therefore recommended only when some temporary screen deffects appear.

Hi, The notice to run pixel cleaning pops up every time I switch off and there is no choice there unlike when I switch on where it asks if yes or no. Pl advise. Thanks. 🙏🏻

Just bought a second hand 55c6v , I did run pixel refresh once as soon as I got 🙈 and maybe the problem was already there, but I have a static image , staying which is only visible in certain colours like red and yellow , Ive read all this info so not going to pixel refresh again and just hope it goes away or I forget about it

Would you share a quick video about the logo brightness function? Which one is the better choice, higher or lower?? I'm confused about which one performs the best compensation for static logos in the corner of the screen. Higher makes it sound like the logo will be brighter and thus cause more burn in. Or maybe higher means higher protection?

I read an article that said that people pulling the plug when not in use could damage the screen. When you turn off the TV and leave it plugged in the TV automatically runs the pixel refresh function. If you turn the TV on in the middle of it the next time you turn it off it resumes where it left off. Now this may be for Samsung TVs I'm sure if it was brand oriented or just for all OLED TV. Maybe you can clarify this. I hope this helps. Thanks!

I ran it when I first got my CX but not since I have had no ir and do watch a lot of Freeview channels some with logos.

Some people just don’t know unfortunately and once you tell them they just go like « well i’ve been doing it from the start every week, no problem » it’s like saying « yeah been smoking for 10 years, doesn’t seem bad »

i don't get it. after 4 hours tv does it automatically after turning it off and you say "it doesnt affect it". but doing it manually it may affect it? btw why on the "quick check" option it says "run pixel cleaning regularly"? it's really confusing.

I have a 2022 LG G2 and have more than 2000+ hours...and while I did not receive a notice to run the manual clean up of the pixels, I thought it might be a good idea. The tv says it would take about an hour (just like you said)...and that it would turn off the tv and then turn it on after the cleaning was completed. However, it never did!! So I tried it again...and it did not turn on once again. So I tried it again...Based upon your video I may have damaged my tv...? Should I contact LG to tell them that they may have created a problem for me in the future? Your thoughts are appreciated. I'm not sure if this is true, LG have told me to do it once per day and that it does not cause damage and will actually prolong the burn-in from happening. So now I don't know what to believe. How do we know if Sony are the ones that are wrong?

My LG G2 tv Nag's me every 1-2 week's to turn off my tv so it can run the Pixel cleaner. If I choose yes it will shut off for a few minutes and then turn back on again. Why is it asking so often to "Pixel refresh" when its off 14-20 hours a day and supposed to do it automatically? I Have a LG C2 in my bedroom that I never get this Nag screen on.
