I still remember Leaping Lanny Poffo's poem which ended (before he himself got the Muraco Stretch) ..."it starts with beach and then it ends with bum !"
God Bless you and your family. You've been my favorite wrestler for more years than I care to mention. Your matches against the Wild Samoans in MSG were legendary !
I've been a fan of don the rock muroco my entire young to teenage years....so good to see he's still here....the wars with santana and so many other memorable matches....you are truly missed bro....especially in todays wrestling! Stay blessed.
I remember back in the early to mid 80s wwf would be at the Worcester memorial auditorium and I was about 10 years old and remember going into the aren and before the show Moroco was walking across the stage in street cloths and I yelled out Beach Bum ! He turned around looked directly at me and started walking towards me let me tell ya I never did that again. Scared the living crap out of me.
Don Muraco, the 1st person I met in Mount Olympus health club in Capitola California when I joined in 1976. He was a really nice person which blew me away as he was always the heal in big time wrestling.
Bad News also stood up to Andre when he heard Andre use the n-word on the bus. He made the driver pull over and told Andre to come off the bus and say it to his face.
The Magnificent Muraco, whenever he'd be in Tampa, would train at a gym I trained at, Athletes Fitness Center, owned by Rick Poston (Mr. Florida and a Mr. America class winner). Muraco had some of the HUGEST triceps I'd ever seen!
One of my favorite heels of all-time along with Ernie Ladd, Greg Valentine, Nick Bockwinkle and Superstar Graham. Muraco was also one of the greatest performers on the stick along with the above mentioned Ladd, Bockwinkle and Graham, and Flair, Macho Man Savage, Hogan and Piper.
I still remember the time Tito finally won the intercontinental belt in the cage. Don smashed the belt (and Tito) and then proceeded to drop the belt on a motionless Santana in the middle of the ring. Best moment in WWF history. Thanks for the memories champ.
I remember watching Saturday morning wrestling and SUPER STAR Billy Graham was on the microphone and said " the magnificent one is chiseled out of Marble "
Don.... what memories....Don Leo Jonathan, Dean Higuchi, Eric Frolic, Mean Gene Kiniski, just to name a few .....All Star Wrestling.......stay save 🙏🏻❤️
Among my top five '80s heels -- I'll never forget the show where he ate a sandwich as he was throwing around some jobber like a sack of potatoes. Thanks for the memories, Beach Bum.
Crazy ! He played with Sheiky and Bam Bam like a cat with a mouse ! Those were very big , strong capable badasses that could destroy most humans and Andre toyed with em ! LOL !
I've always said Muraco and Orton Sr. should have been Tag Team Champs. Put Fuji in that mix at ringside (and in skits) and just imagine the heel heat they could have had.
Amazing to hear that someone actually tried to challenge Andre for real. That takes a LOT of alcohol AND drugs consumed to even think this is a good idea.
Andre will never be replaced...he died under 7 feet tall, but he was well over 7 feet tall earlier in life, his heighth shrank a bit as he got older, due to his spine curling a bit..making him hunch over.
It was Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine he sat on in the corner and let out 45 second farts. He also was drinking Clamato and tequila all day at a arena and got stuck on the ropes when trying to do that sit down thing he did and diarrhea all over Bad News Brown. With the booze and what ever he ate it must have stunk he had to had smelled bad either way with all that in his system.
