Don Rickles loved Sinatra…. He and Carson helped him immensely at the beginning of his career, and Rickles never forgot it. He thanked him constantly and was loyal to Frank until the very end.. Don was even a pall bearer at his funeral.
I loved that Frank refused to play at a hotel that refused to let Sammy Davis in. I forget which hotel/casino it was, but I always respected Frank for that.
@@adenanthony5257 Well that's a bit extreme, you're going to have to revisit the same movies, songs and comedy sets for the rest of your life if you don't accept that we've had talent since this golden era.
No, I’m in my 20s and there was class and grace from the 60s and the 70s. The women were naturally beautiful and the men were not afraid to show affection towards their friends after giving them a big rib
According to James Bacon's book Made In Hollywood, Don was making a name for himself around the night clubs circuit as the master of insult, suddenly it became fashionable to be roasted by him. Then one night Sinatra appeared, up to that day they had never met. He kept creaming everybody in the room but never even addressed Frank's presence, as if he was invisible. Then, in what became a very tense moment, Don approached Frank's table, looked at him and asked "Remember when you used to have a voice, Frank ?" Sinatra's jaw dropped to the table, then he exploded laughing, as did everybody else there. Since then they became long life friends.
@@James-cb7nb Nothing to do with how we smoke in London. Not so much now, but London had always been dense, foggy and wet, particularly after WW2, the great smog of 1952 claimed a lot of Londoner's lives (read up on it). Thankfully it's all a thing of the past now, except the rain - we do get a lot of rain 🤣🤣
Those two have been friends for a long time, up until Frank's death in 1998 at the age of 82. In show business, that's a rarity. And both of these men are sorely missed. Legendary entertainers.
Despite all of the jokes and teasing each other, both Don Rickles and Frank Sinatra really loved each other from the bottom of their hearts. And opposed to what Don Rickles said in many of his jokes,it is truly not over, for they both now live in eternity.May they love each other from the bottom of their hearts forever!!!…Karl Schumaker ❤
@@r3tr0actiongamer24 My grandfather’s best friend was found tied up in the trunk of his car with a rat shoved in his mouth, and two shots in the head. Yeah, the mob wasn’t real. Edit: Further note, His car was parked in O'hare airport, and his death was ruled a 'suicide'.
Why would you even type that line? Do you think Im deaf and dumb? Im not..like everyone else that watched this.. ya it's funny...no need to point it out🤦🤦🤦🖕🖕🖕
@@jasonsampson1301 No, I don't think you're deaf - I think you are savant, probably ride your bicycle without a helmet. You don't like people quoting others that they liked? I can see how that would be irritating on a platform where a community can share comments; why would anyone want to share their interests?
@@jasonsampson1301 jason it's not only english speaking people that watch this you know, I wouldn't mind to have all these conversations titled cause I don't manage to catch all of that.
Frank Sinatra loved Rickles. On top of that, Frank knew how talented and important Rickles was to society. We need a lesson in laughing at ourselves with other people.
I have such fond memories of watching these entertainment giants when I was a kid. From Sinatra and Rickles to Dean Martin, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Klugman, Johnny Carson, etc. Look at the talent on that one episode of the Tonight Show. I don't recognize many (most?) of the people who show up on the tonight show these days. If a network re-ran Carson at 10:30 now, I'd watch him every night.
This man was originally supposed to have dinner with Crazy Joe Gallo, thankfully fate intervened. You have to be an incredibly gifted comedian to stay alive in that era.
After touring Universal Studios/NBC, I watched every day from '72 on. EVERYBODY took a turn guest hosting eventually. BILL COSBY several times, (had a lot of jazz musicians)......
This is just pure comedy… good old times when comedy was funny and people weren’t getting upset on behalf of others… plus 2 old legends being funny and even kissing on national TV… take me there
5:46 - “I have relatives living in Jersey…” “Not for long.” (Look closely at Don’s reaction)😆 I truly miss those days of comedy, when everyone had a sense of humor and got the jokes instead of being offended by them.
There’s something about Don’s comedy that I just love. I was first introduced to Don in that Dennis the Menace sequel but seeing more of his comedy makes me love him more 😂
Younger generation: "I'm confused", "This is so cringeful", ,"Ok Boomer", "They should be canceled", "Where are the women"? Pretty much sums up today's younger generation.
As a kid I enjoyed whenever Rick was showed up on a sitcom or on a variety show, he would crack me up because nothing is funnier than putting putting people down, he was the king and Frank and his Entourage of friends loved him for it because hemade them laugh at themselves, rest in peace Frank, Rick and Johnny🎉
If you didn't cross him, you were pals for life. Cross Frank, and that was it. John F Kennedy made the mistake of disrespecting Frank. Promised to fly his chopper to his home in Palm Springs. Frank built a helo pad with an American flag on a pole. Had lots of guests waiting. JFK stiffed him. So Frank took an axe and chopped down the flag pole, he was so mad.
That ketchup story is hilarious too 😂 Apparently Frank throwed the ketchup to the wall he expolded on sum such again might be paparazzies - without even looking Don asked hey Frank could you pass the ketchup - and got him rolling laughing.. 😂 Thats why Frank loved him. Don made him laugh like no one else. That is why he was safe and could troll him and the mob like he did 😊 Bless them both, man Don was / IS a legend! So damn fast and witty!
Is very sad to see how wonderful and extraordinary artists have been replaced with cheap rappers, plastic pop singers and corrupt music with pervert content. What happen with United States? The evolution turned in involution!
@@BarryRerack147 Ignorant ? Read your answer! You are giving me the reason. That 5%, you don't see it in the Main Stream Media or in the big billboards. That's what I mean. The crap is in the TV, radio and Hollywood. The good is hidden, you need to dive to find it! Have a good day.
Frank had a great speaking voice. Great diction. Did you catch the way he didn’t drop dime on Don by saying “Before he was married, he was in a restaurant with some girl”. Whatta pal.
Some people are just "walking around" funny. That's Don Rickles. Milton Berle was in that group as well. Being funny was the only way they knew how to be.
You must watch the youtube move Sinatra Palm Springs. What a great movie. Frank was the most generous and charitable guy ever. I had no idea the millions he spent helping people.
