When he died I went to his website, he had dates listed for the next year. Said it all to me. The body might have faltered in his last few years but the mind was sharp as a tack right to the end. I wish I had had the chance to see him live.
Yeah saw him in October 6months before his passing. He was so sharp and so funny.I was about to buy tickets for the next year 2017 but then he passed.Miss him.
A transgender comedian could get away with anything. On the other hand, anyone who laughed at his/her/it's joke would be called a toxic masculine/feminine.
First I laugh my ass off, and then I get sad, knowing all of them are gone. But thanks for the incredible memories guys You all were simply the BEST!! And thank God for You Tube!!
I grew up in the 60's & 70"s watching Johnny Carson, and some of his shows were the one's with Don Rickles, Bob Hope, Dean Martin. But my favorite was Don Rickles because you never knew what he was going to say. His delivery was so fantastic. He was one of the few who could get me to laugh out loud. It sad that there will never be another one like him, because we have lost the ability to laugh at ourselves.
Hey Paul, we met in Gainesville in '92 after your show, you came to Congo Craig's, the rooftop place downtown. I was the karaoke emcee that night. Rick Aviles was also there as well. Was like a lifetime ago!
@Lost Angel I'm pretty sure it is him, by the way he commented about Don, I mean, who else could it be? The comedian Paul Rodriguez was who I met, for sure.
@@MichaelDiVito2667 yes the Paul Rodriguez came to comment here of all the people in the world. Im just saying it isn't certainly him and i very much doubt it is
Minds like Don Rickles with that quick wit and humility like Johnny only occur a few times every generation. This is comedic genius in its natural environment!
When I was a kid in the 70's I would scan the TV guide to see when Rickles was on Carson. Then I would beg to stay up and watch him. My parents were pretty cool about it.
We don't hear enough stories about parents being 'pretty cool' everything is either how terrible they are or how serious they are about everything...my wife, very traditional Filipino, has always had a little problem with me 'going easy' on our daughter but I say, 'Hey, she's only going to be 7 once...' Like these comedians, people need to chill and not worry about every damn thing.
@@julianmarsh1378 I agree. I am glad I grew up in the 70's. I tried to give my 2 children some "chill" even though it was beginning to get tense in the early 2000's. They are 19 and 22 now.
It always amazed me how Don whatever show he was on, could rise to the occasion and knock everyone's socks off. Take a good look folks, talent like his will never walk this planet again.
4:17min "Shhhhut up Freddy (de Cordova, Producer) if you´d know more than me, you´d be a guest!"...that totally killed me:)The delivery was so so magnificent-like only Don Rickles could do it. He will be forever unsurpassed and unique.I miss him.
But I DO. And I Cld have Never thought at That time that there Wld come a time that I'd Miss those nights, just sitting in the L.R. watching Johnny with my Parents. It was just what we did.. Johnny Carson and then.. lights Out.
Holding a cassette recorder up to the speaker of our Motorola TV to record this (Before VCR's DVD's and streaming) kids today wouldn't/can't understand
Great days when there was one tv in the house you would sit down as a family and watch together laughing eating chips watching these guy's boy what a shame its changed miss this big time 🌹🙏
Those of us who remember that it was ok and American to laugh at each other are very lucky indeed. I always turn to Don, Johnny, Winters, Dean et al these days. They are a relief from the news!
Clarification question: were you all laughing at each other in the long gas lines, after you turned in your neighbors for being Communists, or after your male boss slapped you in the butt for doing a good job at work? Yes, lucky you.
What a 'Pussy Nation'....... we've become. this is when people could 'roll' with comedy in all it's forms......and 'laugh'...with a joke, and not 'turn it into'...more than it was, because of their fucking 'feelings'. weilding that...like a childs temper-tantrum' weapon. God...wish i could go back to the 60's and 70's.
Don Rickles walks into the room and the conservation was a 1 man show. The people in earshot were just the decorative plants taking up space. He looked at and you needed to grab ahold of the chair tight and ride it out. Miss these comedians. No script No boundaries it was let it fly and see where we land
Same here my folks would let me stay up if Buddy Rich was on and he was on a lot so I really enjoyed that my dad always fell asleep and my mom went to bed so I had a blast!!!! Loved Carson!!
Rickles may have said it to Frank years later at the Sands in Vegas, but the first time was at Murray Franklin's in Miami Beach. Don's mother knew Frank's mom and asked her if she could get "Frankie" to see Don at the club. If he did, it would give her son's career a boost. Don told Frank to hit somebody when they met for the first time.
I've never seen this clip before! :) Just when you think you've just about seen virtually every Don Rickles appearance on every talk show! :) Thank you!
This is 10 times funnier then any of the clowns they have on now a days and I say that at the age of 35. I love watching these older clips from the tonight show.
Steven Babinski I’m 44 and it’s the same here. These guys were not found at „ America has talent“ , they were forged in thousands of stand up nights and had two things: enormous talent and class. All this is not required today any longer. The only quality needed today is to be politically correct and to look pleasing.
Steven Babinski yea, Kimmel and the other guy are so not funny. He was on the Kimmel show, many years back and even commented that Kimmel was not funny and told him, nice try
@Josh D Didn't really think it would. You do make a good observation concerning perspective. That dismissal people make when saying every generation thinks the next is worse isn't very useful. Certain values never change... and if they're lost or abused for a spell, it means trouble. Seems history is replete with evidence.
I never get tired of watching videos of Don. I make people laugh by copying his comedic style. You have to think quickly and have comedic timing. Doing this is my way of honoring him. One word describes Don best: legend. RIP, Don (2017), and Barbara (2021). Married 52 years.
I'm 68, and I still try to imitate Rickles style of humor here in the Phoenix area to this day. In the last 6 years I've been kicked out of 2 gay bars, 2 fast food resteurants, a local major grocery chain, and a car wash..LOL!!
Classic show with Johnny Carson and Don Rickles was one of a kind, Johnny is the best host there has ever been! I love these videos as they always make me laugh out loud!
When Don dont get the reaction from the public within 1 second ,he can change the subject so smoothly, and within 2 seconds make them laugh at the new one ,and nobody gets time to realise the bad joke done 3 seconds ago.
I was about to get up from my computer to go to the restroom and I see this. I decide to hold it and watch this knowing full well I may end up pissing myself from laughing to much, but Don Rickles on Johnny Carson is well worth it lol
I would like to thank the admins of this channel for all their content on Don Rickles and Jhonny Carson. You are doing this world a great service. As Don Rickles (RIP) would say at the end of his roast, "God Bless You"
Every summer, my brothers and I watched this, from 1970-onward, because there was no school then and we were allowed to stay up late. That was when the stars were great and well known. Once I was age 17, I watched this show every season of every year, until Johnny retired. This show is a classic, most of the guests are gone now, which makes this even more to cherish. The show is on the channel called Antenna Tv, M-F.
Joey Bader yeah! And those one or two people would have to be black themselves! Otherwise, there’ll be someone somebody somewhere crying n complaining about it!
@@DT24K sorry you feel that way I know a lot of comics miss making jokes like that by the way you can not tell any black person how they should feel about any joke made about our culture or any jokes made about the era of slavery or Jim Crow or Segregation
Miss them all. Rickles was one of a kind too. Wonder what he would come up with about all the IT stuff, the pandemic, The latest presidents. What a plethora of material he would have now. Don, you are missed. 🤣🤣🤣
