Absolutely class ❤️⭐️ I’m now 59 and remember these classic memories as I would watch them with my father 🏆Nick Sr. who was a hard nosed ,tough Teamster truck driving man …😳 and left my life in 1977 when I was just 14 from my parents bitter divorce, it was very rare that he laughed so hard watching programs like this and “ All in the Family “🎭🤣 I always loved to see my father laugh 💔 Great memories ✨✨
Rickles always ended with love, but this was his BIGGEST show of love & respect to anybody he ever " roasted " ...brought tears to my 55 year old Italian ass ! THIS, was my youth !!
And those 'stars' fought those censors constantly. It isn't because they wouldn't, they just couldn't. Their later years weren't the cleanest, nor were their publicly private lives.
Im English, and i got to say you Americans have the most amazing sense of humour on this earth... no one comes close. I dont know id do without you all. Love from London.
We thank you for Monty Python, Absolutely Fabulous, Benny Hill, and The Doctor. David Tennant is my Doctor. Honorable mentions for Jimmy Carr, Rowan Atkinson, and Torchwood. Respect and BBQ from Texas.
I can't believe I've only just caught on to Rickles. What an amazingly eloquent comedian. His closing lines are so warm and genuine and his line delivery perfect. What a talent he was.
Rickles was a class act, knowing who he could play rough with and who to totally respect at all times. George was one of them, Bob Hope was another that comes to mind.
Back when people were well spoken and educated. Class style respect for one another. I miss these times...very sad the CRAP that's on television today.
Phyllis Diller always made fun of her looks, and other people have joked about how she looks, and of course the wild hair and outlandish expressions are part of her act, but I always thought she was beautiful. Even here, she just glows with laughter and life.
David Showmaker honestly it all starts already with how they dressed up. Nowadays these events, the guests look terrible which shows their disrespect for the whole thing in a way. Miss it.
Years ago if someone was offended it was “you can’t take a joke.” Now everything is politically incorrect or racist - because some adults are now children - everyone must behave as though you are always interacting with children. Many love these old roasts - they all were drinking, laughing out loud and having a great time - it was truly a great time & I’m glad I was part of it.
She was laughing...thats the problem today, people are too soft. Its very sad! Everyone took a hit and everyone laughed. We are all ridiculous at times. Lighten up, joy is necessary!
Steven Goehring I cannot get enough of them!!! Been watching on RU-vid for a while now!! I’m going to purchase the full collection on DVD! It’s about £350, and I will say I think it’s worth every penny!!!
No matter how hard he roasts someone he always gives them his respect and admiration. This is the way roasts are done. If you watch a roast today its all about who can be the most vile and nasty. They have no class like they did back then.
Today they have no idea what the word "class" means. They'll Google it, look it upon Webster's and STILL don't know what it is. But these guys here created the word, when men were men and women were true queens. I was a child back then and I see now that I should have been born in my parents' time.
@@Locktwiste72 For making similar online comments to the one you just made, I have occasionally been insulted by others who happen to like everything that's out there in the world of pop culture today in the here and now, and who have little or no knowledge or appreciation for the entertainers of old; that class of people are what they are and probably can't help it and know nothing differently than what's always been in their little bubble. I sometimes worry for the present and the future of this country and Western civilization itself that's being left in the hands of a generation which has so many souls among them who not only lack any sort of moral compass whatsoever, but cannot even grasp the concepts of class, civility, and treating others the way they themselves would want to be treated (AKA "the Golden Rule.") But I'm pushing 59 years of age as I write this, no kids or grandkids to fret over, and I'm actually thankful I probably won't be around in another 20 years to see and be a part of a society that by then will have gone completely down the waterfall.
A veritable galaxy of Hollywood superstars on the top table and none with more humour and class than Don Rickles. What a fine humorist and sincere showbiz pal he must have been.
I got to meet George Burns at Caesar's Palace back stage before his show. He was so nice to me. Asked what I was doing there. I said my puppet's name is Bernie and I do your voice with him. He said let's hear ya. I did an impression of his voice and he said, "you know I flopped in show business for 20 years before I made it." I said that's great! He said, "why's that?" I said, "I flopped for 10, I'm half way there!" He cracked up and said, "kid you never quit!"
The world and the human race were far from perfect, back in the seventies, but at least we could laugh at ourselves and enjoy it. I have still, never seen anything funnier than Foster Brooks, roasting Don Rickles.
This is why I’m here binge watching old class acts. I would give up cell phones, microwaves and flat screens to get back to times like this. Today it’s like hell opened up and everyone is demon possessed.
I watched all these Roasts when new, and I liked CPO Sharkey. I was 15 when it premiered. It was hilarious, I was very disappointed when it was canceled after only 1 season. I always liked Don Rickles, even as a child. Rickles was perfect for these Roasts.
So much amazing and witty talent . Bright with creative ingenuity and unity. A rarity in today' circles...Unfortunately. The talent of that Era was a golden one, Stars above what is present today, or passed away too soon. R.i.p Robin Williams and many others . You are Missed.
Looking at Phyllis Diller in this video, she would have made for a stellar Cruella De Vil had the 101 Dalmations live action movie been done in the 70's or 80's.
This guy demolishes all the other great artists there with him, some of them individually, while making them (and by the way, us) almost roll on the floor laughing, and then goes to pay a beautiful, serious, heartfelt, touching tribute to Mr George Burns. 1-derful !!! A Hall Of Fame artist and human being.
Don Rickles you are a dream come true you are funny caring and may your life be long and happy!! Thanks for the memories you are truly a kind great man may you always be happy with family at your side!!! Katherine Collins
John W Hardin thank you for uploading all these videos i am very grateful. I like how they make "fun" of his age but the joke is on them George outlived them all hahaha. Talent that we wont be able to see again. So much class and without heavy language.
That's a nice reason why I don't have a TV, after growing up with this magnificent and talented people I would not dare to watch TV.... that was a blessing....
So much class in these old roasts. No cussing, no hate, instead it’s passion, love, genuine humor, and everyone has a good time. Unfortunately, Hollywood has turned into an unprofessional cesspool of hate, violence, humorless celebrities, and classlessness. We’ll never get anything like this back and it’s really sad to think about.
That is why we should be grateful for the people who upload these videos so we can enjoy them. I also share them with my children so they can see what classy people act like.
This was a true "golden age" of comedy when we had comedic icons such as George Burns and Don Rickles. Both were genuine class acts. Gentleman, you are both very dearly missed. At the same time, you both left a legacy of integrity and genius that has (and will) be enjoyed for many generations to come.
His compliments are as good as his roasts. His roasts destroy you but he always ends with words of praise and admiration that are so well put together and conveyed in a manner so loving, you end up forgetting the massacre he just committed a few minutes ago.
