My uncle saw a Don Rickles show in Las Vegas. He was seated in the front. Don abused him. Turns out Don served in the Philippines during WW2. My uncle said he was dying from laughing so hard.
Wow nice to know that he serves here in the Phil's. Don I think was the legend in stand up comedy. Where ever you put him even in a talk show. Standing or seating.
Jonny Depp waited all his life to be insulted by Don Rickles and he finally got the badge of honour. RIP Mr Warmth....there will never ever be another.
Simply brilliant! The shame is that a majority of people watching didn't appreciate that this is the exact same type of humor that Rickles dished out himself over all the years. Much of his humor wouldn't fly today, and that is an outright shame; it was all in good fun.
Mr. Rickles did every joke and stab with the best of intentions he was a great man to those coming up in the business and behind the scenes. He was the definition of a legend. There will never be another Don Rickles. No one has the balls to do what he did with the grades he did it in. And now the worlds too politically correct
Who says it wouldn't fly? I'm here, a lot of people like you and others still like politically incorrect humor. The left is like 20% of the world, 50 or so are still great people who appreciate reality and are hardcore human beings who have thick skin. But my generation is being changed, and that's what making the world a dangerous and boring place to live in.
Well, if there was another Rickles out there today, we'd probably dig him/her as well. Joan Rivers was also a genius at this back in the day. But really, De Niro doing stand-up? Look at Scorsese cracking up and pointing at him. (04.08) Now THAT stuff is priceless. imo.
One of the greatest joke of the show, because it's him but today it not possible or i think we will never listen this type of joke in TV show, never, and it's better for all of us.
I love how he mentions his mother everytime and how she used to talk about him, proud of him. Sounds like she worked hard for him. God bless her. God bless Mr Don Rickles.. respect
9:50 "God bless you black people. I love ya, I really do. As you're laughing here I'm sure one of you guys is up in my hotel room robbing me." 😂😂😂 I don't think there's anybody alive that could deliver that line today and not get cancelled.
I had the pleasure and honor of sitting with Don for a few minutes in the 70's when I was working with my band at the Cricket Club in Miami. He was one of the nicest human beings I had ever met and not at all like his stage persona. His heart was as big as his comedic talent. RIP Don.
What a privilege to be there on that night. He could get away with saying things nobody else would dare and be funny at the same time because he really had a heart of gold. Legend.
De Niro and Scorsese just out did each other in comedy like they did in their movies. Even real comedians were laughing their asses off because its authentic and funny as hell.
"Coincidentally, dead is also the average age of your fans." Man, you forget that both De Niro and Scorsese can WRITE. They've done a ton of uncredited screenplay work. And they're just funny, too. Very, very impressive performances.
So basically you're saying that because they said funny stuff on stage that also means they wrote it. Ehm, don't know how to put this to you but this tribute had three writers and they more than likely came up with the good stuff.
@@ey3796 The soundtrack should have all the music used, but actually, this may answer it for you -- there are even some notes about during which scene the music is played for some of the songs: www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=casino+film+musci
This was absolutely scripted and written by comedians who supplement their incomes by writing lines for awards ceremonies and roasts. Bruce Villanch and Patton Oswald come to mind (there’s a video of him talking about writing jokes for the 1998 MTV Movie Awards).
It is almost 2020, and since taping of this show: - Weinstein is unemployed and being prosecuted for rape - Depp and Amber Heard had marital abuse issues and are separated and finalizing the divorce - Brian Williams has been fired from NBC for lying on air - Don Rickles has died, (which sucks since Don rocks) - Tracy Morgan almost died in a car crash - Letterman doesn't host late-night TV anymore, and now resembles a slim Santa Claus (LOL) - Jon Stewart does not host the Daily Show anymore - Marty Scorsese release "The Irishman" w/ Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Bob Di Niro. During the movie, they cast someone to play/honor the late Don Rickles
@@NYCDom during the Frank celebration scene where they honor him, later on a guy goes on stage and performs, asking someone in the crowd if they're jewish. Classic don.
Wow. Never seen this before. As a European, Rickles never was a ‘household name’, but quite possibly the funniest comedian to ever grab the mic. I was in tears when they helped him up and found myself standing up when the rest of the room did. God bless you Don.
A beautiful person that I believe made a difference. He joked about all races. He fought in WW2 and like the brave men with him were scared as hell. It helped to make him the man he was. Our freedom today is because of men like him. God bless him.
This video feels like a grand closing of a life. It has an element of existential beauty, like a poem no one told but everyone wanted to hear, couldn't be better. I don't know whether tears in my eyes are of joy or sorrow, or just are. Death makes life so mysteriously beautiful. Thankful to all talented and warm hearted people in this video, expressing that love and laughter is the best way to experience life with fellow human beings.
It's so beautiful that they paid tribute to this comedy genius of a man while he was still alive. RIP TO THE GREAT DON AND MAY GOD GUIDE YOU IN THE AFTERLIFE 🤲🙏
This is a classic and I'll watch it over and over for years to come. I remember being 8 or 9 sitting in the living room and my mother would walk in to see what was making me laugh so hard. It was Don Rickles on the television. Now over 50 years later I still seek out the videos of his comedy. A King of Comedy for all time. RIEP Funny Man.
Don Rickles was a very funny man, indeed. Mr. Rickles was a master of his craft, a legend. He is not among us anymore, but his legacy lives on the media. I liked the tribute Robert de Niro and Martin Scorsese gave him.
Love seeing Jon and Jerry on the couch together in the second half, just loving Don's humor. The dude was an atomic clock of humor...it was in his bones to be in-tears funny 🤣
Watched this the first time today. HILARIOUS! When he imitated De Niro, De Niro’s facial expression looks just like the imitation. Jon Stewart was just dying laughing.
I've watched this clip many times before, hell, I've watched this entire show.. With all that's been going on in this year of the pandemic, the Don's last line about love and health rings so true.. God Bless you Don Rickles, wherever you are, you still keep giving us more and more..
Rickles' comments at the end just Totally Smoked It. So glad he 'went for it', as only he could. Such a brilliant mind and a true American original. The stuff of Legends.
11:54 75% of that crowd were incapable of digesting that heart felt message, after the jokes had been said, the laughs had been had...Rickles left a meaningful message! So true, so heartfelt! RIP to a legend!
When he was poking fun at people, he was showing them love and when he spoke sincerely like he did at the end of the video, you knew he meant it. Damn allergies, my eyes are getting watery here...
Don Rickles goes back to the real deal the gangsters who came to see him , so he made it to where he is at this point . A wonderful person let Tracy Morgan tell you who Don was Gold .
