Don't Allow Emotions to Make You Quit!

This clip is of me helping one of my beloved recruits navigate through his emotions. He wasn't hurt but was going to allow the emotion of nervousness to deter him from completing this drill. It's imperative that our boys and men not only learn how to immediately identify the emotions that could deter them from their purpose, but also learn how to overcome them in order to accomplish their purpose (Pro 16:32). I hope this short video clip encourages you all to never allow the emotion that makes you wanna quit, make you quit. #SavingBoys #TeachTrainTransform #EmotionalStability

@Petaurista13

@@Vizorfam yes. I know fighters who rely on brute strength but only on street. F.e. my pal. He has simply insane pain tolerance and he's savage af in fights. But he's very weak in sport fights and quite easy to stop if you are stronger while being better technical and calmer. Plus Fowler missed whole point. Being nervous is not a weakness.
@west3979
@west3979 2 года назад
@@Vizorfam If you get too emotional, if you think too hard, you can get tunnel visioned. You need to be in a state of mind that allows you to control your actions and think openly in the fight, and even in life. You can be as physically fit as you want, but you will never get anywhere without the wit to see things through. Petaurista says that 'being nervous is not a weakness.' I agree, because many fighters, though nervous, have learned how to control that anxiety -- and even use it as energy to propel themselves forward. In short, mental balance = a less cluttered mind = better decision making and control over emotions = profit!

I somewhat agree. I think in order to get to B, you also need to get through A, which is acknowledging and expressing your emotions. The problem with some people is that they think that all men can just work through their negative emotions without ever acknowledging or expressing them. I'm assuming the people you're talking about aren't just leaving it at the first bit, but trying to say that the first step is most important step too.

I would have just about killed to have someone in my life like him. There is another side to this coin. As a woman, I was essentially taught the opposite of this fine young man, to give myself over to emotions and whim in the name of femininity. To find someone like this boy could have become. Outwardly strong, unemotional, and ultimately repressed. It never sat right with me, and now I'm in my 20s learning how to use emotion. Fortunately they never did drive me, but I shoved them down so far that when they exploded, it was ugly, and as I had not a single adult to turn to, I almost spiraled alone into depression and then death. But to know that emotions are not the enemy, but a reaction to your surroundings, that any intense emotion can be turned to drive, that is beyond freeing. To feel and acknowledge, then power through with anger or fear or joy, temper it with patience and experience. It is not male or female. It is human. Seeing this man almost moves me to tears, and I shall endeavor to not long for him, but be like him to any I need to teach. Thank you sir, God bless you and all your students, physical and virtual

I have a big project that I'm presenting today, and have invited a lot of friends to come see. The past few days I've felt super nervous, and I find myself coming back to this video. Where I know that I can feel nervous, I can acknowledge my anxiety and push through. Thank you for being an inspiration to these boys, your community, and to me.

This man knows what it takes to make a life for yourself. He knows it's a path of struggle and pain. A good life isn't just one where you get a degree, decent job and call it a day. It's on where you constantly challenge and apply yourself. That's where true happiness and fulfillment is. That's what the experience of life is! Otherwise once you die, what was the point? Life, is by nature suffering. The catch is though that you get to choose your suffering. You get to choose whether to experience now or later. You get to choose whether your suffering reaps rewards, or it's a punishment for being lazy, complacent and avoidant. This man is teaching those kids a valuable lesson. He is teaching them the true nature of the world, the way it throws you around and makes you nervous. But it's important that you are still in control. You are in control of your emotions, and you are in control of the actions and decisions you take. You have to be responsible, and guide your life towards the direction you want it to go. It won't be perfect. You'll make mistakes. You'll work at it for years feeling like you barely made any progress. But if you choose to walk this life, I will promise you with all my confidence that you will build something. And you will look back and realise how far you've come. You will realise that it took work, and it took time. It took a damn ton of both. But, that's how you make something out of life. You choose your suffering. Remember to love and respect yourself. Life is damn tough. Cut yourself some slack, and do your best.

I think this is a great experience for both boys and girls. I totally relate to this energy as a woman too, both sexes experience the same things but we're just taught differently. I repressed my emotions quite a lot during my childhood due to the intensity and what I perceived the 'silliness' of them, and when I reached adulthood, things just overflowed, making my life messy. I'm doing better but I still have difficult times regulating them now and again because I was hardly taught how to do it. However, I've been doing martial arts since last year and it's THE BEST thing I've done for my mental health, to integrate the fear, the sadness and the rage into the practice and not let it completely rule my behaviour.
