Confessions of a teenage drama queen is a pretty weird movie. It's fun, just odd. Not sure we love the overall message of it either. Definitely worth doing a movie commentary and reaction for. Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox act well off of each other. Next movie commentary and reaction video will be for Bring It On!

@LA_HA
@LA_HA 3 года назад
@@babycommie What power imbalance? And because a fan, a stranger, told him how disappointed she was in him and his drunken behavior, he finally got help for said alcoholism. And he wanted to let her know. You know, show gratitude in person instead of sending a text, email, leaving a voicemail,or sending someone with a note. Seriously, please explain it to me, because I just don't see why that character is getting roasted as being a pedo or bad person. It's not like he sought Them out. Nothing bad happened or was going to happen. In fact, he pretty much ignored them at the party. So, all I'm seeing is that he treated teens with grown up respect by talking to them when they pushed themselves into his life, and now he's the bad guy for showing gratitude for the exchange about his behaviors? Even though she was using him at the same time he was upset about how people use him? I need an explanation

There is a huge part of me that WANTS to like Lola/Mary, but her personality gets in the way of that. Like, if she was a nicer person, I'd find her quirks endearing. And I think it's awesome once she sets her mind to something, she generally accomplishes it. But then she gets really judgmental, rude, and assumes her problems are the worlds problems, and I start rooting for literally anyone else in the movie.

I think if you compare Lola (Mary) and her best friend Ella to the fan girls/ and the STANs now of popular bands in the last decade (1D, Fifth Harmony, 5SOS, etc.) they go super hard in the fandom if any band members say anything on social media about anything and I think that they are being cryptic about a project or something upcoming (which some do to keep fans on their toes but something they’re just say whatever) or if they just walk away from the group or do any kind of project outside of the overall band.

I remember watching this the first time and loving the visual creativity, some of the costumes (the purple flapper dress is awesome), and the concept that Lola meets her idol and he is just a flawed man. But the rest....NO. I hated the whole mean girl plot. And I was so angry that Stu took the girls to his bedroom, had them change into HIS clothes, and then showed up at the party looking for teenaged Lola only to tell her he got sober for her. It floors me that Disney didn’t see the subtext of the party scenes. Another great commentary, guys.

43:46 My guess is the that's how the mean girl bribes her way into getting cast in every school production, promising that her parents will finance the school's theatre budget so that they'll be able to afford ridiculously overdone sets. Read a short story where a girl with absolutely no acting talent always got the lead role because of that - also because the drama teacher never came to terms with the fact that her own acting abilities weren't good enough to make her a professional actress and envied another students obvious and natural acting abilities, which thankfully is where the similarities end.

My school had huge productions! We did a huge production of all shook up, we did grease, hello dolly, and a few other big productions. Our theater department was way too big.

She is also a big part in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and one (not so big but memorable) in Princess Bride.

When I was a kid, I thought this movie was dedicated to me because of the ending song with “Eliza Rocks” in big letters.

Their shopping/credit card debt joke and the title of this movie led my mind straight to Confessions of a Shopaholic. Now that's a movie you guys should definitely watch.

I don’t know if the movies were books written by the same person or something but there is 2 movies called Confessions of a Shopaholic and Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber but i think in some places it’s just called The Social Climber. The Shopaholic one has Isla Fisher in it and The Social Climber one has Jennifer Love Hewitt in it 😂

In Florida people are pretty into their city and where they're from. Especially if you lived in Jacksonville for any amount of time. Just shout the word "Duval" loudly and anyone who has been in Jacksonville for more than two minutes will shout it right back. Hell, we went to a concert in Georgia and still heard 20+ people shout it back at us.

Looking at it critically/as an adult I think the main problem is both that we don't get a real decent sense of the life Lola has to leave behind in New York is nor do we get an understanding of WHY she dreams so often (I suppose tangibly you could say she's taking the divorce hard and mix that with general teenage hormones?) and fleshing out both more - maybe in one scene that does both - would help (also, why couldn't she have just....stayed in NY with her dad?) But at the same time I think Lola being SOOOO OTT is part of the charm, as is the movie going with it so hard. If nothing else they definitely committed to the concept LOL

For me this movie really represents the title. I remember loving this movie because it really showcased the thoughts and feelings of how life can feel when ur young, going thru puberty and school. Yes the scenes and the character are over the top insane and noe looking bsck on it as a 30 year old i shake my head but at a young pre teen age you feel like any decsions in life whether they are good or bad are huge to you and sometimes you feel like the world is ending snd then others your over the moon. I also couksnt get enough of the ending song lindsay sings. I can still sing along to that. I can see from two male mens persoective that its a bit ridiculous but as a girl growing up i remember really loving this movie. But yaaaa... now that I look back at the underage party scene, that opened my eyes a bit wow lol

The one thing she didn’t lie about though, was confronting Carla about going to the party….because she did in fact go to the party and she saw Carla, but Carla didn’t wanna admit it…..so she acted like she didn’t see Lola there. A lot of people gloss over that.
