Life in the UK is easy! You need to understand how the system work and focus on your goals. I moved to the UK 2005 as a poor student, struggled as a student but soon as my university degree was completed, everything changed. Start small, rent a room not an apartment…try and save as much as possible. Make use of ISAs, it’s an incredible weapon to turn your life around permanently (passive income is powerful yet so easy). To cut the long story short - after 15 years in the UK, I joined the millionaire club and I now work for myself doing exactly what I want. I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved, not bad from an ordinary Enugu boy with so much ambition and a thirst for knowledge. If I can make, anyone can make it in the UK!

15yrs is a long time hence why the quality of life is better here in the US….In just 2 years here, I joined the millionaire club!..Making 15 million Naira after tax monthly as a machine learning engineer. I can only visit the UK, can’t live there…Know peeps there struggling and wanna move to the US.

I am Indigenous to the British isles. I moved to Australia 20 years ago, the standard of living is way better here than in the UK. Living in the UK is a tough lifestyle, I am native to Scotland and even when we migrated to Australia we admitted how harsh the life is in the UK. The thing that shocked me when I went back was how miserable and depressed everyone was about life, I find Australians more positive and in turn I have become more positive. Also, how run down and dirty everything was around me, Australia always looks so clean.
@mariejackson4630

That is so unfair. You can't compare the UK with Australia because the load that Britain is carrying, Australia is not carrying the same load. UK takes people from all over the world Australia is not doing the same. I beg stay in Australia and leave us alone.

I rarely comment on these forums but Akanni and April are the best. Well done. I wanted to say this to encourage us all. I came to the UK over 20 years ago and with the blessings of God, hard work tenacity, the right people surrounding me I now earn about £260k per annum, take home £15k per month as Director of Law/General Counsel for a company. I say this humbly but I wanted to share my experience so people can see that it's possible. When I arrived over 22 years ago my husband refused for me to do any job that was unprofessional. He would say don't do jobs that lead to a dead end, be patient. He was giving me £25 a week allowance then,lol! I went back to school qualified as a lawyer and started from the bottom. The problem we have as Nigerians is we don't work together. The Indians help each other a lot. I refused to change my career even when friends we studied law together went into I.T because it was paying more tham my roles then. hubby and I also invested in property etc. Do you know you can earn 10% interest on some fixed deposit in the UK? But there is a minimum amount, research all these things. There are genuine property companies and hotels that you can invest in. Invest in gold. Hubby encouraged me all the way and we are surrounded by Nigerians of the same mindset, believe me there are lots of Nigerians I know earning over £250k even up to £1m. Banks, oil companies in the UK, car companies, even Tescos and co pay their directors well. My husband became a VP in an American bank before he left to another organisation. It is very possible. There are several free It training that you can research, Jesus House church runs fee IT training, make inquiries. I also know some people that work remotely for US companies. Please open your eyes to opportunities.God will bless us all.

While agreeing there are people earning as much as you've stated here ie £1M per annum, we should be mindful of how information we put out here help people manage their expectations. It is noteworthy to state that with an income of £260k per annum, you belong to the top 0.5% earners which is obviously way above the mean. While motivating people to aim higher, small details like this will help them manage expectations. Shalom

You are so inspirational guys because you tell it as it is. I wish so many people from back home can see this. You have to change your mind completely when you come to live in the UK. I remember when I first arrived at age 18 and I made a few long distance phone calls back to my country Swaziland. When the bill came I was asked if I had made those calls and I lied and denied it. Then I was told that if you are going to live with us it's not going to work if you tell us lies and we tell you lies. It had never occurred to me that the phone company logs all calls. From that day I wised up. I also wish that people could take some time to fully understand how the law works here because if you get on the wrong side of it it will be on your record for ever. Back in Africa people will sometimes lash out and hit people who are being a nuisance but if you ever hit anybody here you will find yourself in front of a judge with a GBH case hanging over your head. So just don't hit anybody and walk away from bad situations. And lastly, please don't fight random strangers on the streets. There are lots of dangerous people out there who will take your life without a second thought. There was a very sad case recently where a Deliveroo guy was killed on the streets because he got involved in a road rage with a car. Had he walked away his family would still be enjoying his company. So walk away please no matter how angry you are!!

What makes me curious about him is from all what he's saying about his house in Nigeria And I'm happy for him if everything is true. Only he makes me feel as if I didn't do enough in which I don't think so about myself and my life. I was married here long time living separate from my ex husband he's German and he's the one brought me from Nigeria to Germany. On getting here we got married and was bless with a daughter who's now 29 years old and a grandson 5. Many thing happens but I thank God for at least I have my peace of mind. My daughter here is doing very well and hada great job. Also my daughter in Nigeria and my two grandson of which I left before I came to Germany. I have done many things for my people home from sending money to bringing a lot of goods. Buying used cars for selling in Nigeria. My family mess everything After realising that there's sometimes no matter how you do you can never satisfy them. I am looking forward to focus on my life and just need my peace so i can manage my remaining time by focusing on what's really crucial to me for the remaining time. You people just make me feel good with this topic Thank you very much🙏✌❤

Oh no your family didn’t appreciate what you did and build more out of the little you sent. That’s so wrong but now take care of yourself.
