My 2007 Honda CR-V has 401k miles on it so I can confidently say that this thing is indestructible. Although the air-conditioning hasn't worked for years and I've experienced the door lock issues and it drinks oil like it's nobody's business but the thing still runs which is all that matters to me.

Mine is a 03 with 245,000 miles. The engine runs great but needs rear shocks. When you get repairs, do you get Honda parts or aftermarket? Also do you use a vehicle protection coverage like car shield? I've had to replace the AC two times in the last 10 years and a few other parts (catalytic converter). Really love my CRV but thinking about looking for a 2016.

Neither of us like the look/style and over teched newer CRVs or Rav4s. That we can agree on. We like the more rugged look of the swing gate and rear mounted spare tire. We bought a 2016 CRV new. It is the EX-L model with AWD. We now have about 106k miles. It has NEVER had ANY issues, other than Tires, Front brakes, and normal maintenance. The only gripe is the high noise level in the car, typical with any Honda. We are careful to do the fluids at correct intervals. It uses about a quart during the 5k miles between changes, as it has since it was a year or two old. Great car! Bill & Carol in Renton, Wa.

Both Toyota and Honda made very good cars but when I first started working in the late '80's, I needed a reliable and yet easy to maintain so I went with a Toyota Corolla FX16 GTS hatchback. Drove it for 8 years with just regular maintenance but decided to give it to my little brother after buying a Toyota Pickup truck and drove it for 12 years. In the year 2000, I bought a 4Runner SR5 4x4 and still drive it today to tow my fishing boat around. Also bought a 2009 Corolla 4 door sedan and mainly use it for commuting to work. I still could not switch over to a Honda since both of my Toyotas are still running fine.

I have an '07 Saturn Vue, which I bought specifically because it had a Honda drivetrain (only available with '04-'07 6 cylinder Vues). It was cheap because Saturn went out of business and the 4 cylinders had a terrible transmission and had early failure. I love my car! I'm at 182k and still going strong! This has been my favorite car to date. I've had to replace body parts, such as brakes, wheel bearings, etc. That, however, has nothing to do with Honda. My big concern about the new CR-V is your opinion about the 1.5 L Turbo GDI engine. I have a 2015 RAV4. It died in me this weekend at the grocery store parking lot. Called a tow truck to tow it to a shop. They sent me an Angel for a mechanic! He checked the alternator and said it wasn’t the starter either. He told me it was just the battery. That it was old. he gave it a boost to get it started then my son drove it to an auto parts store and got a new battery. If I had taken it to the shop, they would have charged me just to tell me the battery was bad. It had been honking once when I turned it on. I told it to Toyota and asked if it might be the FOB. It would have cost about $375 for a new FOB and to program it. Instead, I replaced the battery in the FOB but didn’t stop the honking. I asked them to do a diagnostic which would have cost $80. Instead, I told it to Auto Zone and they check it for free but they said it wasn’t spring any codes because there was no CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on. My son changed out the battery and no more honking when I start it. Hope this helps someone having similar problem.

My last 5 cars were Hondas until this year. I bought a 2021 CRV Hybrid. I loved this car until in November 22 my car was stolen. A neighbor caught it on camera. It took 3 minutes from the time they broke my window, climbed in the car and pulled off. I reached out to Honda for help. I asked how is this possible without the key. (My car wasn’t parked directly in front of the house I was staying in and I was 2 hours from my home so it wasn’t someone from my neighborhood). One person said they could have had the key codes from Honda another said that’s not true and they shouldn’t be able to take the car without the key. (Which was clearly incorrect since my car was stolen). I was also told they don’t have tracking on the CRV Hybrid. Without any help from Honda, I could no longer buy a Honda. I now have a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid. It comes with tracking.

Shifts are tighter on the '08. The air conditioner clutch failed on the '09 and I replaced the compressor as well as it had to be removed to change the clutch and the car had 90+ thousand at the time. The rt rear door solinoid is screaming at me with every door lock when I leave the car or it locks automaticly at 5 mph. I'll get it replaced soon. Other wise, it's comfortable transportation with enough bells and wistles.

Guys I work at a Honda dealership. And lemme be honest with you: Avoid the CRV. Especially if you're choosing it over the Rav4. If you can get a good deal on one MAYBE. But if they're almost the same price then don't even think about the crv. The older ones were better made but the 1.5L turbos are not so good. Engine problems, transmission problems, sometimes electrical problems and the built quality of the interior is just not on the same level as the Rav4. They're not absolute garbage but they're a far cry from Toyota's offering. I've spent a lot of time with both (Rav4 being my best friend's car and I deal with probably tens of crvs a day at work).

We had to stop driving it due to an issue with the wheel or the axel, just fell off while we were driving it lol (while we were going very slow thankfully but we decided it was its time after that). I now purchased my first car and i ended up going with a 2009 honda crv. Has 154k miles or so on it now, bought it at 138k. Had it for a year this last october. My first car was a 2001 Honda CR-V I bought in 2014 off an older woman who had used it for church and groceries. In 2014, it only had 25k miles on it. I loved that car and took pride in taking care of it and would receive compliments about how well it was maintained whenever I got my oil changed or needed a new part or just by strangers at the gas station. Anyways, last month, someone was driving on the wrong side of the road and crashed into my car. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but my suspension was trashed.
