Don't buy BLINDS. Make them for less than $1 

If you glue a yard stick under the last pleat and thread the string and knot it, when you pull the string it will raise up evenly. 😊

My mom bought cheap plastic vertical blinds and then found fabric she liked and glued fabric to both sides of the blinds. She then had my dad make a valance with wood, which she draped with the same fabric. Most beautiful curtains! She has had them for about 30 years and they still look brand new.

Wall paper costs more than a cheap blind.

Last time I checked Bunnings wallpaper was about $80.00 per roll. Cheaper to buy the blind.

Works better if you drill two holes..I've done this when staying in rented accommodation,

I've done this multiple times but you need more holes with the string to balance it out. Loved it

Drill three holes, one each end and one in the middle. Thread string to the tops,stick a ring in the top midle thread left and middle string through to meet right strig , knot together when blind is lowered to the bottom of window then run string down sides to a hook on the wall or nail to fasten and it becomes cheap up/ down blind.

I did this 30 years ago, young newly married and broke 😊 great solution when on a tight budget ❤

Flash back> i remember these in early 70's & again 90's, in 90's this was mostly diy or younger first time renters.

The same can be done with fabric and cord. The tape can then be replaced by a rod.

I was thinking out loud... Could you wet the wallpaper, lay a mini blind on a flat surface and apply the wallpaper to the blind? After it's dry, cut the wallpaper between the slits with a sharp object. It should open and close easily!!! Don't cut the string!!!❤

Beautiful but that double- sided tape may leave a residue that's tough to remove. Making that pocket someone suggested and using a tension rod would be a couple of bucks more but less work, more useable later.
