That moment you realize Hyundai are starting to put more quality in their vehicles than Honda... You seriously need to try some Google ad sensing Kevin. Your contact downright trumps some big screen reviewers out there. Keep it up man
I’m mighty humbled by that my friend that truly means so much. Haha I have been having ads on my videos you only need 1000 subscribers for that but not all ads show up all the time. And I don’t want to flood my videos with ads either but I put a few in there. Hyundai’s are superb machines love them a lot. Thank you sir
@@MeynMotorGroup You're welcome bro :) I was meaning advertising your channel via Google targeted ads sort like the ads you get from different channels. It can't be that expensive particularly per view. Could give the channel some boost
Oh yea I know what you mean. I think I tried it in the past I’m just terrible at setting up the correct audience and stuff so I typically just end up wasting money haha. I’m pretty proud of how far I got with no ads and stuff but yes something to look into
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about! Hyundai's are not reliable, or have improved their quality in fact the new vehicles are the worst, then the older models. Go on Consumer Affairs Website under Hyundai, and you will see people have issues with engines seizing on the highway, catching fire, quality control issues with the interiors, etc.
I just bought a 2020 Elantra. Reading your comment definitely makes me feel like I made a good decision. I got a great deal on it. My buddy works at the Hyundai dealership. I got 0% financing for 84 months. I guess the dealerships are desperate to sell cars with the virus going around.
Finally got to review the 2020 Elantra, let me know your thoughts down below. Apologize for the tire size mistake, 15" wheels make a huge difference haha. If you want to see what car I work on next, follow me on insta @exhaustsports or become a patreon member. Thank you for watching
The Hyundai Elantra surprised me when I was test driving vehicles. I went out to test drive expecting the Toyota Corolla or Honda Fit to blow most options I looked at out of the water - I wasn't even seriously looking at the Elantra, and it's what I ended up taking home. I test drove the VW Passat 2.0 Turbo, 2020 Corolla 1.8, 2020 Nissan Sentra 2.0L and Hyundai Venue 1.6L and the Elantra blew all of them out of the water...at at the lowest price of them all. Driving it to work with combined highway/city driving and I am averaging 37.1 mpg.
Just acquired one of these 2020 Elantras, black with the alloy wheels. I'm very impressed with how eager the motor and trans are on the twistys. Combined with it's light weight and tight steering, it's a lot of fun to drive to and from work. The CVT is so good, I forget it's a CVT when in sport mode or shifting ratios. Also, the stereo is full sounding, not harsh- a welcome feature in a base level car.
@@ErockHQ the motor blew up months into my lease, and I processed a long and tedious buy back with Hyundai corporate that took months to complete, 2 years ago. I’ll never buy a hyundai/kia car ever again. I now drive a 2021 Passat 2.0L turbo SE that i own.
IMO the last Elantra 2011 to 2016 looked better. It had some character and a better design language. With the new sonata , I can’t wait to see the redesign.
Hey thanks so much for stopping by yea I do know what you mean I too loved that Elantra. This kind of looks Audi A3ish whereas the previous Elantra was just a great Hyundai design.
I bought the 2020 Elantra SE and the transmission was replaced in May at around 6k miles. I’m just under 13k miles and my Elantra is in the shop because of its transmission again. Outside of the transmission, the car is great but in 2020 the lack of automatic headlights is ridiculous. If I’m not mistake, 2019 Elantra SE had Apple car play but the 2020 Elantra SE doesn’t and it costs you more money. Smooth ride though when mine isn’t jerking all over the road.
I like the fact that you don’t hate the CVT like so many other car reviewers. Actually, Mark (SG) and Alex (AoA) had good things to say about the Forte CVT. Most enthusiasts hate CVTs, but they forget that most people who buy an affordable car wants something that also gives good gas mileage. Some also think the CVTs are still drony, when in fact they have improved a lot recently. Case in point, the new Corolla, Civic and Forte/Elantra.
Yes so Hyundai Kia actually did a great job with this transmission. I do hate CVTs for the most part but it can’t be argued that these new CVTs from Toyota, Honda and Kia that you mentioned just so An amazing job. Thanks again my friend for stopping by
Lol, thanks for telling the truth... yes some of the Nissan CVTs are horrendous. Looking forward to your take on the new Sonata and the upcoming 2021 Optima. Keep up the great job!
great review as always. the elantra has been a great car for the money for a long time now. i cant wait to see the new gen elantra coming out in a year or 2.
Looking into buying my first car, this is one of my options, I wanted a truck but right now prices are being racked up way too much so I’m cutting down to a smaller car- this is really amazing and I’m definitely looking into one of these.
Lease the value edition. It's got sunroof, adjustable seats manual, back up camera, lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, Android Auto. Rims, HD radio, heated seats. All it's missing are the leather seats option and power seats.
My used Hyundai Elantra 2020 engine failed at 65,763 miles.I bought it at 60,500 miles. Really sad about it. Have to put 7,333 dollars into it to save it. Mechanic told me the 2020 Elantra's engine fails at a lower milage than other cars. I can't get another car cuz my credit is wrecked and the car worth less than I owe on my loan. I made a mistake in buying this year of car. I know the Elantra's are good but keep an eye out for the engine issues down the road.
Check to see if its covered under the new recall that was just released. Its for 2019 and 2020 elantras with the 2.0 engines. Something about bad piston rings that lead to engine failure.
@@Elpaisitamaschimba Yes out the door. My company has a discount program with them, along with several others dealership. I shopped around for the best deals. I'm a hagler by nature and I know money talks. So walking in with money to place on the table, will usually get you what you want. I've bought 3 different vehicles from a rental agency and has never been disappointed. Every car lasted well over 15 yrs. Back to deal. Lol No TTL with Frontline worker discount(Healthcare) Another 800 discount for Dealer fees. With that all, Total discount was between 1800 to 2000 maybe that why so low. On another note same day, I bought my nephew a 2020 Ford Fusion hybrid 31,000 miles for 12,333. Walk into any dealership with cash money and people give you what you want. Lol
I rented a 2020 & by far the BEST of any car I rented. Im a huge Mazda fan. But I could drive all day in this. With chronic back pain issues thats saying alot. Im also short 5'1 & this was so comfortable for me. I usually have to drive real small cars lol Anyways. Not heavy on blind spots. Big plus. Def a huge fan. Sorry Mazda lol
The Elantra sport with 1.6l turbo is a DCT I’m not a huge fan of that transmission but yes the sport mode in most cars just drop you down a gear and yes that does give a more instantaneous feel but my favorite mode is normal mode
I have the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. I love it! Great on gas. Love the tech features. And my year model comes with an 8-way Power Driver Seat. They took that feature out on the '18-'20 Value Editions. But I will say that I don't like the 2019-2020 front end design. The triangular lights looks like a Pokemon character. Then the triangular turn signals in the front-end is just too obsessive. Now I do like the rear-end. Just disappointed with the design. My '17 Elantra gives me Audi/baby Genesis vibe with the front-end. My local Dealership tries to get me to upgrade to a new 2020 model, but I refuse to let mines go. I rather upgrade for the Forte EX or GT. But I will be waiting for the 2021 Hyundai Elantra release. If it looks better than the current model, then I might consider a trade-in.
Nice yea it’s a great car. The styling on the new one certainly isn’t for everyone I’m impressed they took that chance. I love the looks of the Forte. Very curious to see what they do with the next Elantra. Do you like the new Sonata?
@@MeynMotorGroup Yes, I like the new Sonata. It's very bold. Reminds me of an Aston Martin. But the 2021 Kia Optima looks better in my opinion. It's already released in Korea. Love the sports back design of it. It's definitely a competitive contender!
@@jraheemjefcoat429 Yea I love the new Optima I hope I get a chance to check that car out. Will try to review the new Sonata as well. Korea is just crushing it
The ivt won't stop me from looking at an Elantra. If you hit Drive and haul ass without warming it up, it's gonna go prematurely. At least there's that 10/100.
I love my Elantra and it has given me great service and has lasted longer than I expected. But after 18 years of use it has taken its toll. The front brakes need to be replaced. There is a hole in the flexpipe. There is also a fluid leak of some kind. The cost of repairs no doubt will be greater than the value of the car I'm a freelancer and COVID-19 has severely impacted my business and income. What should I do? Should I make repairs? I know it will be costly but it will be cheaper than getting a newer car. Of course, it is likely that there will be a need for further repairs in the future for a car that old with that many miles. If you recommend that I get a newer vehicle, should I lease or get a used 2019 with very low miles so that it is still covered by the bumper to bumper warranty? Are bumper to bumper still 3yr/36K miles? Any suggestions would be most appreciative. Thanks!
I bought an Elantra GT sport Hyundai, am I wrong ?? I don't know a lot of things about cars. Years 2018 and kilometers is 32065 on this day. Please I need your advice.
you sed don't by a hyundai all you sed was good things about it I have a 2018 hyundai elantra with the 2.0 engine and it is the worst engine hyundai makes it loses oil
Just purchased the 2020 Value Edition. Wish someone could explain why, when you use the cruise control the rpms increase by almost 1000. If you watch the mileage, it drops. Makes you not want to use cruise control. Other than that, it is a good car. Oh, about the stereo, I've heard better tin cans.
Nice huge congrats! Yea value edition is great. These cars don’t have a lot of hp so the engine has no choice but to be in a higher rpm to hold highway speeds constantly lol. You would be surprised, I’ve heard far worse stereos in some cars haha
Some one found a work around. Once in cruise control, put transmission in manual mode, then shift up. Don't forget to put transmission in auto mode again.
I agree. On my 04 and now 2020 I feel like the cruise control beats the crap out of the engine. I only use it on the highways or long flat . If I see I hill coming I step on the gas or shut off cruise.
There are plenty of reports of CVT Transmission failures. How would you like to experience this? www.carcomplaints.com/Kia/Forte/2019/drivetrain/power_train.shtml Brand new 2019 Forte with less than 2,000 miles on it. Driving down the highway at 70 mph and the engine starts to rev and jolt. Get to the right lane and it will not accelerate at all with my foot on the gas. Had to get the car towed to the nearest dealership to find I needed a brand new transmission.
Worst car ever. DON NOT BUY!! I bought one brand new and at 3500 miles I got an engine knock and its burning oil. Did the oil consumption test at the dealer and they refuse to replace my engine. I bought the SEL. A waste of 21000dollars. I just have to wait till the engine blows up.
Haha that's what you get for buying a Korean product maybe doing more research online would've helped with your purchasing decision you freaking Dodo Bird!
Amazing review! This makes my decision easier with picking between the new forte or the new Elantra. I agree I love the simplicity of the new Elantra. I was originally looking into the forte gt or Elantra sport but I like simple more specially if it’s a daily driver!
Hey thanks so much for stopping by, super happy that this review helped out. Yea I like all of these cars but I am really impressed with how the tuned this CVT for the new Elantra. Great car I know you will love it!
Yea haha I think it will actually take many people time for them to appreciate this IVT as most despise CVTs but Kia Hyundai did a great job. Thanks so much sir for stopping by
Just bought mine yesterday, brand new and a good deal. The SE model is actually very awesome without all the SEL features. I just upgraded from the 2016 Ford Focus SE. Feels great, smooth ride, the gas mileage isn't as good as the focus but it's up there. Definitely feels like i'll enjoy it for a long time.
Great review, Kevin! It’s great to hear that Hyundai is improving in quality. I always love it when you punch the accelerator in your reviews. Just don’t get any speeding tickets though.
My wife has a 2013 Elantra and it's fun to drive and gets 40+ mpg when I baby the gas pedal and has a ton of features for a cheap price. She also leased a 2017 Hyundai Sonata and that car is also packed with features, super on gas, is peppy and rides great. At a relatively low price. Very impressed with what Hyundai has done.
This car was my rental for one week man oh man I'm very impressed by the build quality and behavior of IVT transmission aka CVT was very responsive fuel efficient. Unlike Nissan's sluggish cvt it feels unresponsive drowning the engine all the time.
Yea this car is an awesome rental choice always the one I go with so smooth and I too enjoy that IVT transmission. Thank you Frank for stopping by my friend.
Just bought a 2020 Hyundai Elantra SEL with 860 miles (lease return) for $17,000, already window tinted and full Weathertech. Great car so far ! Had a 2009 Hyundai Accent and it was totaled (not my fault) and immediately went to another Hyundai. Big Toyota Fan and own a Tundra. Love the Hyundai warranty. Hyundai needs to make a truck!
totally normal. Mine does the same thing. I asked the tech what it was when I went in for an alignment, for the life of me cant remember the details. But yea, normal.
Never tried it but the people that I know who owned them, love it. Also a lady drove one til 1 million miles. I would always suggest a warranty tho with any car
Yes so I just bought my 2020 Elantra on Saturday cost well under $18,000 but also well over 17,000 which isn't bad at all for a car like this and how it drives is incredible I'd say and I really do like how the ivt functions in this car like it feels very very convincing in the amount of miles I get per gallon are also super super incredible as well I think my car averages 37.4 miles per gallon which is great especially because I have to drive 2 hour distances to work and back depending on where the job is at one thing I'm noticing that I don't find too good in this could be just from my car particularly is that when I put it in park and keep the handbrake up I've noticed the car likes to get stuck after letting off the handbrake and trying to move the vehicle like it'll still lock up not sure why it does that but hopefully it doesn't continuously do that but other than that every bit about this car is amazing and then issue with that locking up after using the handbrake I think is only an issue with my vehicle personally as well so I don't have any complaints about this car whatsoever in a general stance
Yes I do mainly for the ride quality and it's a bit quieter as well but I may be testing the 2021 Kia Forte Shortly as well, last Forte I tested was a 2019.
Am considering getting a 2020 Elantra. I had a 2013 GLS. Drove it for several years had no problems with it except for the mileage i got. It was rated at 38 hiway, but barely got 36 on it each time i took it for a long drive. With the CVT am sure I’ll get better mileage. I made 400 mile roundtrips back then. Fuel light came on 30 to 40 miles from home. I didn’t mind that too much except in the dead of winter. When it was below freezing out there.
I have been choosing between 2 cars: Hyundai Elantra Inspire SR 1.6 and Nissan Sentra 1.8 SR. Which one you would recommend? Actually, I am going to receive one of these cars at my company, but I can not decide...
I currently have a 2016 Nissan Sentra get the Hyundai best warranty transmissions go out on nissans and there’s a lot of recalls I’m picking up my 2020 Hyundai Elantra tomorrow
Oh I just think those people just don’t know they have it on. I know a lot of cars have auto headlights but people still manually screw with the lights. Usually with the Auto lights I have noticed, they don’t come on til sunset
I have Auto lights. Of course my Elantra is a higher trim. I can't do a base model at all. I love it! Don't have to worry about turning on my headlights.
So I have a 2020 Elantra, bought with only the delivery/ test drive miles on it (between 8- 12 at most) in Jan 2021. Everything was great untill it reached 3000 miles around March (I live about 25 miles from work + drive to the city for cancer dr appts)...It started doing a rattle/shudder/ kick at low speeds and then surging/ missing at higher speeds. Thought it was being sluggish due to needing oil changed. So oil changed, car still doing this. Tried fuel treatment, thought maybe I got some crappy gas. Nope. Still doing it. Took it to dealer. They tell me Hyundai tells techs to drive a new car off the lot and see if it does what customer is complaining about. They claim new car does the same thing and it must be how the cars shift due to changes in the engine for the model year. I'm about ready to shove the car up the dealer's ass because it's just getting worse. It is constantly rattling, kicking, surging, and missing and just driving like shit. My advise? Buy a Chevy. I was raised in a Chevy family and I don't know why the fuck I strayed. As soon as I can, I'm trading this POS for a Chevy Idon'tgiveadamnwhat.
I have no idea what this guy is talking about I own one of these cars and is the worst of all four vehicles I have the suspension is ways to Steff feels like I'm driving a dually pick up seats are made out of this weird material that grabs your hair steering wheel is uncomfortable to drive with seats are very uncomfortable and the way it's designed there's dirt always on the back of the car and the speakers suck you have to put the speakers at full volume to hear
@@MeynMotorGroup I think this dude/duddette is just trolling. My current 2017 and 2019/20's I've driven ride great and are very comfortable..and I'm a 6ft tall fat-ass.
Hi . Heard the new ivt in both Hyundai and Kia is non serviceable. Meaning , u can not change the transmission fluid for the total life of the vehicle.. I saw it in one of the reviews of forte. Is it true ? Just something that I’m curious about .
