@@PWingert1966 ah yes...a core i10. Totally something that exists and is totally affordable. I'm running Windows 11 with those same specs and it's absolutely fine. A core i5 will let you do just about anything you plan to do if you're a student or a casual user. 8GB of ram is enough to open a few Word documents and a couple of web browser tabs. 256GB is a bit small, but an SSD is exponentially better than an HDD, and most educational institutions have access to Microsoft Onedrive. As for Windows 11, I'm testing it right now. It's not great...but that's definitely not because of my specs. Windows 11 will continue to become optimized. You shouldn't assume people can afford a "core i10" with 16GB of ram and half a terabyte of SSD storage. That's overkill for the vast majority of average people. Windows 11 won't automatically make every single non-elitist computer obsolete. So please, do not talk about Windows 11 requirements if you're not running the software yourself, and it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about anyway because doubling a core i5 would mean a core i10, which doesn't exist. Anyone with basic computer knowledge who's claiming to know all about the Windows 11 requirements should know that.

@@lilbluey647 My current base requirements for Widows 10 are an i7, 16Gb of RAM and 512SSD (With a NAS backing for bulk storage). 256 just does not leave enough space free after windows install to handle unexpected situations. While this may seem excessive I hold on to my computers for far longer then the average person (I still have my maxed out T61 from ten years ago). With Widows 10 achieving a high stability and reliability status finally it is worth the time and money to get higher initial specs because most people are keeping their machines longer and not replacing them at all or replacing them with a phone. As for windows 11, you do realize that every thing is running in a virtualization environment and that TPM will be used through out it operation including installing applications, generating a key for virtual machine access and validating access requests to the kernel. This will place significant overhead on mid-level processors such as an i5. While I was speaking figuratively about doubling the processor I would still recommend a top end i5 or a low end i7 to handle the increased overhead. Same thing with memory. Virtualization is a very resource intensive activity. I was hoping that MS would implement a Doocker style model but instead they have gone with the VBS model that they mentioned in a security paper released several years ago. Read this then get back to me: www.microsoft.com/security/blog/2018/06/05/virtualization-based-security-vbs-memory-enclaves-data-protection-through-isolation/ Another point is they could have implemented VBS without TPM and secureboot an achieved a similar level of process security. Given the VBS model and the TPM I still feel that your specs are on the low side for long term viability of hardware. I would move up at least one pay-grade above your current specs so I would never find myself short if i was suddenly asked by my boss to make/edit 20 minute a product video for an new catalog item (Yeah that happened last month) . I admit i9 is overkill but maybe not for content creators and scientists/engineers;

Not the i10!, nobody expects the Spanish Inquis....Oh wait wrong comedy,. While the i10 doesn't exist I am waiting to do my next hardware for the 12th generation Adler Lake chip sets to be produced at scale by Intel. My thinking is that by getting the Alder Lake architecture chips I should be able to over off two full generations of Widows. Windows 11 and Windows 12!. Thus maximizing my investment-in hardware. That means probably 12 - 18 months for Intel to deliver. Its too early to tell yet but I have until 2025 to wait and watch and have frozen my purchase plans.

@@emmablankestijn3495 hello, I have the 8gb and 128 version, it works good for light video editing, schoolwork, and I did a test and opened 15 programs at once and it still would be able to switch fast between. if you do school, I recommend the mid tear model or even if it's for basic use. It's a great mid tear laptop

On the website it said it could last 13 hours because there’s no back light. I wouldn’t say it lasts 13 hours but it lasts for 2 days with minimal usage. I also have the 8gb and 128gb version and it works great!

@@bellraaa It's good for me! Maybe, because I'm not that person who is bothered by "ruby being not ruby enough" or something. This screen shows colors really accurately (again, as for me), I play games, watch videos and haven't had problems with that. But when the screen is facing the sun, even the highest brightness is not enough sometimes, that's true.

Surface Pro 7 i5 8GB, 256GB all day everyday without any doubt. Much more 'student-friendly' than an Ipad.

Go Microsoft. Apple has way too many issues, not worth the risks. Love their devices, but too many service issues if you have problems.

Anyone who tells you to get an iPad Pro doesn't need or use a computer. Also, everything that can be done on an iPad can also be done on an iPhone (take videos/photos, edit video/photos, watch movies, play games, etc.)...

@@RK-um9tu -- My iPad Pro is 12.9" and my iPhone screen is small. Productivity wise, the iPad pro works much better for actually doing work. I have a 2 in 1 tablet PC and a desktop PC. While I have grown to hate Apple from a service perspective, I have to admit that while my iPad Pro worked, it was wonderful. What was not wonderful was it failing and even though it was under warranty Apple said no, shows signs of water damage (it had gotten a little wet in the rain a year previously but worked fine since) so no warranty, sucks to be you. Essentially Apple just used any excuse possible to get out of warranty repair/replacement. As that was a $1500 top of the line device I was, and am not happy.

@@Hamza-yb5fv yes. I have the m1 macbook pro 13. it hast fans, and the fan ditnt even turn on once (at least i didnt hear it even wehn i really try to hear it.) Minecraft runs with max settings on 120-160 fps. Thats insane. And 20 hours battery, just increddible. I mainly use it for video editing.

It was actually pretty good for what i need. I only needed a writing station for school work that is ultra portable. I like windows alot better than macOS and Chromebooks so its almost perfect!

I am so happy that I don't ask my parents for my tuition and miscellaneous fees. I got a scholarship, receiving stipends monthly from the national government and cash allowance every semester from our city. With that, I can buy our needs like books, gadgets for school and pay bills.

8 gigs of ram and an intel core i5 is a great combination. for the price its one of the best laptops out there if not the best considering its build quality.

yeah I haven’t tried the Pro 7 myself but I think the specs are much stronger than the Surface Laptop Go so it should be better

The 8GB Surface is definitely better for school work/anything you’ll need to do as a student, I only picked up the 4GB base model since I couldn’t find any reviews for it on RU-vid at the time

I’d say it’s good I have the same model and I have no problems with it really if you unsure look for more videos about it.

@@kwoknation Awesome, I’m really looking forward to seeing it then. I went for Mac air with the 8th core gpu, and 512GB of storage. These systems seem to handle heavy work extremely well. Not sure how, but they do it. Also when I was using 15+GB of ram just for the game rust, it said my memory pressure was only about 45-50%. Now i’m starting to wonder how far a 8GB model can actually be pushed and still maintain that smooth experience. A windows machine will just fall on its face when the memory gets close to full, let alone being doubled and still running fluid lol. When is the video coming?
