I'd love to see your solution for the router table. I also own the Katsu and it literally frightens me. Used it for 2 Years now and it starts doing really dangerous stuff like changing the depth or loosening the router bit because of vibrations! Also it heats up and the material expands so I'm not able to move it smoothly in the plunge. Really strange machine.. Just bought the triton for 120€, which is a wonderful deal! I'm very excited :D

I’ve bought an insert plate for the Triton and went with one from rockler that is predrilled especially for Triton routers. Just need to check it definitely fits and then I’ll probably just mount it in my workbench initially and then will be building a custom router table for it in due course. That katsu is a great starter router but you do need to keep everything tight to make sure it doesn’t go deeper than planned but I’ve not had the problem with it sliding down or coming lose so afraid I can’t help on that one mate.

@@lionandbear great idea, hope it works out well for you! Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for help with that Katsu. I think I'm gonna use it for edges that I can't work on the router table and that's it. Or throw it away..we'll see 😅

😂 it’s definitely worth keeping for trim work but I imagine most of the stuff you do will be on the router table when you’ve done it. I had a router table previously and used it loads more than my standalone routers so I’m sure you’ll love it

@@lionandbear I already build myself a table router with the Katsu and I love it so much! It was like getting a bandsaw. Suddenly you can do so much more stuff 😁👌 so yeah, the next version of my router table will rock the shop. I think I'm gonna give my Katsu version of the table to my father. He just bought the makita trim router that Katsu copied, so it should fit 👍

The plunge for me was a problem hence I never used it and sold mine. I do own the biggest one they do and have it in a table. That is super smooth so I’m not sure why this version is like it.
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
Interesting. Did you not manage to smooth it out then? Hopefully it won’t be a problem once it’s mounted in a table. Out of interest, what insert plat did you use for yours or have you just made one?

@@lionandbear no it was very course. I’m using the triton router insert for the work centre mounted in a custom top. I have the 2400w router in it and that’s a peach. But no good free hand. I found the complete work centre used cheap and used the bits needed and sold the rest. I found the work centre stand a pain and it took so much room.
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
Yeah the work centre insert looks great but pricey. I’ve been looking but not found any cheap enough yet so am probably going to use a cheaper insert and make my own.

Hi Ben, great video. I’m currently looking at getting one of these routers for table use. Have you found any compatible tables or are you making your own? Thank you
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
Hi Wayne, Triton do make their own table called the TWX7RT001 and it looks awesome but at around £200 it’s a bit steep. I’m planning to make mine using an insert plate and have found that there are a few that are compatible. I’ve been doing some research and there are a few that will fit it by the looks of things. My thoughts are currently the Kreg PRS4034 but I’ll be doing a bit more research before buying and will do a video when I make one. Hope that helps.

I read that the spring jof the JOF001 can not be removed, hence using it in a table is difficult. Can you confirm ?
@lionandbear
@lionandbear 4 месяца назад
I’ve not tired taking any springs out but I’ve got it mounted in a table now and use the handle accessory to raise and lower it without any problems. I can’t see why you’d need to remove anything to make it work.
@AMARFPV
@AMARFPV 4 месяца назад
@@lionandbear Thanks for your answer. It would've been nice if you could remove them just like you can with the MOF001, but i think the MOF will be too clunky for me, i rather purchase the JOF001 since i mostly do small jobs.

Hi, maybe a weird question 😅 but can you tell me if the distance between the screws on the black base is 10,2 centimeters? I am thinking about buying this router and I have a circle jig with 3 holes for the router. So I would like to know if it matches
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
Hi Robin, I’ve just had a quick look and the screws on the black base match those measurements so looks like it should work with your circle jig 👍

Hi it is possible to fit collets for 8 or 6 mm bits?

Yes I think so mate. I got a 1/4inch collet for it. If you Google it then you should find some come up.

What's the difference between this and the MOF001?
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
The MF001 is the more advanced version mate but I’ve not used the MF001 so I can’t comment on the differences as I’m not 100% sure. I do know that the MF001 has micro adjustments on the handles but that’s about all I know. Hopefully someone else can comment further.

Hello sir, have you worked with this router, it's ok, you like it? Thank you 🙏
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
I have indeed. It’s a good router but the plunge is definitely an issue. I have successfully used it a number of times now but I tend to plunge to my required depth and lock it off before touching it to the wood as I can’t trust the wood. You may therefore want to consider your options as I’m not the only one who’s said that the plunge is a problem. I’ve not mounted it in a table yet (procrastination!) but have full confidence that it’ll be great for that.

Yes I believe the kreg plate will fit based on my research. However it was out of stock so I’ve got the Rockler plate that’s drilled for Triton routers and although I’ve not installed it yet I did test to check the fit and it all lines up.

Have the TR001. Lift shaft has two metal gears on a plastic shaft. Why would they design it this way? Cost cutting. Several videos on RU-vid how to replace this!Poor build quality.

I've tried this brand of router and there table saw after seeing them demonstrated at a woodwork show was never happy of the quility of the build or how accurate they cut after owning them only a short time. Maybe OK for DIY work but as a cabinet maker for over 46 years myself they don't now have a place in my workshop. Makita tools just can't be beaten for daily use and are odly cheaper in price than Triton over priced tools.
@lionandbear
@lionandbear Год назад
Interesting viewpoint. You’ve definitely got a lot more experience than me so I’d have to bow to your experience overall for sure. However, I found this was one of the cheapest 1/2” routers out there. They do a much more expensive version and I think if it was as clunky on the plunge as this one then I’d definitely not be happy. I’ve still not mounted this in a table yet though. I’ll get round to it one day 🙈
@onetalentedman2822
@onetalentedman2822 Год назад
@@lionandbear Put your router in a table and leave it there using it as a small spindle moulder would be certainly more useful. Triton tools flooded the DIY market many years ago in UK and America but I think due to pricing of there tools lost a huge market place after that. They do make an amazing large vice that I tested and that was heavy duty but it's a product that's always out of stock when I've wanted to purchase.
