Thank you for such an excellent review. It is so good to find a review of a tool from a user who has actually USED the tool. Too many "review videos" are simply unboxing videos. It is frustrating to start to watch a video only to find the user has zero experience with the tool. It is refreshing to see a review after an entire year of use. Bravo young man! Excellent video and review.

yup I bought the 3.25HP Triton TRA001 for the same reasons as you did. it is simply the best router on the market. powerful, precise, and it has its own table lift, super easy bit changing over the table top, bit height adjustment over the table top. I use it for heavy cuts on the router table, mostly in the very hard woods, and it works like a charm. I couldn;t recommend this router more.

After around 3 years of use in a table the rack and pinion riser eventually wore out and the height adjustment wouldn't hold. However, (caveat) I did not have the "above the table" adjustment feature, and had to manually adjust the height using the handle from underside. There was however, no disputing the router's power.

I've had my eyeball on that router for a good amount of time. I just learned a few more things about it from this video. Good router. After 3 years of professional use under a table, the only issue I have had is the side handle height adjustment failed. I always found it a little clunky, eventually it stopped working. It runs off a plastic cog with plastic teeth which ended up failing. Not sure if it was user error or not. Other than that, it has been amazing, on second brushes now. I wish it didn’t break, but when it gives up the ghost, I will probably buy it again.

Hey mate, when it is in your table how do you go about changing the bit? Do you have to reach under the table cover the switch?
@tada-us1rf
@tada-us1rf 2 года назад
When it's in the table, simply use the height adjusting tool to bring the bit all the way up above the table top to the mechanical stop. At that point, the spindle lock mechanism will engage automatically to prevent the spindle from turning. At the same time, the plastic switch guard will cover the switch, preventing the accidental (or purposeful) turning on of the machine. Use the wrench to loosen the collet, change out the bit, tighten the collet, use the height adjusting tool to lower the bit back down into the table to desired height. As the bit is lowered, the spindle lock is released. That frees the spindle and allows the power switch to be accessed once again.
@agbeare
@agbeare 2 года назад
@@tada-us1rf I was trying that and it didn't come high enough to engage the spindle lock. Sorted it now thought

@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL 3 года назад

@stadleroux
@stadleroux 3 года назад
You can leave it in the ON position and plug it into a switched plug and turn it on and off there, but it is of course best to turn its own switch off when you're done with it for a while, just for safety's sake.
@andyfruit1009
@andyfruit1009 2 года назад
@@stadleroux do you still need to go to the under table switch to change bits? I’m assuming there is no way to add a remote speed control either. I’m wanting to box it in under my table with an extractor outlet and largely avoid under table activity. Cheers
@stadleroux
@stadleroux 2 года назад
@@andyfruit1009, yes, the router's own switch has to be off for the bit to be elevated all the way out of the table into the locking position, something I tend to forget when I haven't been using it for some time! I'm quite OK with that, however, since I have read and heard comments from owners of other brand routers on how they don't even have the locking position on theirs. Have no personal experience with other larger routers, so I wouldn't know if that's the case with most of the others... Besides, I'm technically challenged anyway, so I wouldn't even consider trying to make that kind of modifications to mine! Take care.

Build yourself a fence with dust extraction and get all this dust from the top. The reason for locking mechanism to stuck is the dust being sucked down.

10:12 Has anyone ever had the spring cap shatter? Or are we the only ones. The cap and spring hit the user in the eye and caused a momentary black out besides a huge black eye. Lucky no long term damage to vision, but for the shattered shards imbedded in the face and neck area from the shattered safety lenses. I hate that power tools are made of plastic - it eventually fails I suppose.. By the way same brand and model Triton.
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL 2 года назад
Yikes, sounds nasty. I only use mine in a table so this will never happen to me thankfully. But that is a serious issue as there is a lot of force behind that spring and not a lot holding it in place. How old was the tool? Had it ever been dropped or knocked against the cap? Thanks for the comment, it will be interesting to see if anyone else has had the problem.
