so what's the deal with the nitrogen cycle....don't do it before getting turtle? do you need to cycle your turtle tank?

The truth is you don't have to "pre-cycle" your tank because turtles are not as sensitive to the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate fluctuations that naturally occur during the process of an aquarium cycle establishing. As such, while fishless cycling is relatively common for aquatic hobbyists, turtle owners do not need to worry about it. Just make sure you have good tank circulation and a powerful filter that will help the beneficial bacteria grow and remove waste particles from the tank! Once you get the turtle, you can test the water with test kits to make sure that your water parameters are on track and to determine a routine for water changes.
