If there was no such thing as CAFE standards and if 0w30 didn’t cost 1$ more per quart, then BMW’s would be factory filled with 0w30. They probably are in the rest of the world.

Replaced the battery that was my 2013 X5 35i 3.0 that had been there for 8 years. About $350 with parts and labor.

​@@Scotford_Maconochiebattery change is extremely easy to do, just make sure to take the negative terminal off first than the positive. And when you're reinstalling it, make sure to put the vent hose for the battery back on, and positive terminal first than the negative. Remember red is first to come to the party, but last to leave. And black is last to come to the party and first to leave. LoL

​@@lyrisit12that's good. But did you get the battery programed into the computer tho? If not than the computer will still think the new battery is the old one which will translate to your new battery being changed earlier than it should be.

What is the filter support? Got a part number or location on where or what that is? Was driving my E92 yesterday and heard something metal jangling and heard something metal fall off. Anyways my +1 Quart light came on the next day. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

JonSantiagoRAW well thank for taking the initiative and developing the content. It has given me a better understanding to my car, and all the snazzy tricks. Mostly because this my first BMW and it’s all new to me , and the car has 122k on it so learning I need to keep that oil fresh!

I live in Alberta and I started using Pennzoil Euro 5w40 this year on my 2017 X5 xDrive35i (I traded in my 13 X5 35i) and I seen NO oil consumption in over 8000km. For your 50i using Pennzoil Euro 5w40 is probably the best oil you can go for. It's a true synthetic with high load and temperature stabilty for the N63 that runs very hot and is also spec'd for LL01. Beside that I'm thinking to give up on Castrol Edge but I would continue to use their 0w40 for my winter oil, but again there's Mobil 1 0w40 which also very good and Pennzoil Euro 0w30 (the N55 recommends 0w30 but a 5w30, 0w40 and 5w40 will also work)

So what happen after you added 1q? Did the msg pop up again ? I’m having the exact prob

I remove the oil, Had the car service again, refill new oil . Everything was ok after. If not check oil sensors. I’ve got drive train issues after fixing the oil .

You have to check the oil level sensor if it works

Morning! Apologies for the super late reply. Going around answering as many comments as possible 😁. Just been off youtube for a minute. How low was it prior to you adding more? Was it just at yellow? Or red? If at yellow and you added 2-3 liters then thats more then required. Just to be safe, i would drain the oil out and add from scratch. Since they are digital oil read outs, its hard to really know how much is really in there. Hope that helps somehow!

Not necessarily. I put more work into keeping my N54 running in peak condition than the average person is even aware is an option and because I also drive the car at 11/10ths about 80% of the time (mostly an endurance track car) I do notice that it burns a bit of oil by the end of each track day. It's no big deal because I change the oil at the end of the day but I definitely notice I'll be down by 0.5-1 quart after a few thousand miles.

@@funfun5656 yea but burning is normal for a vehicle that gets tracked often due to the higher oil temps. Most people are not tracking their cars (even N54’s) so this shouldnt be the case for most.

No leakage. Almost every BMW is designed to burn oil. It could be minimum like: you top up 1 quart every 6k miles, or it could be that you top up 1 quart every 1000 miles. Depends on what oil and viscosity you use, and the way you drive as well.

So mine i add 1qrt every other month or so depending on how much im driving it and how hard. Some motors tend to burn a little more oil then others. Common. Another thing could be maybe an oil leak from somewhere thts causing you to have to add more oil.

I usually use liqui moly, but today I used Mobil 1 5W-30 fully synthetic oil, it doesn’t matter what oil brand you use i guess but as long as it’s 5W-30 Fully Synthetic and I recommend them two brands, liqui moly can be ordered online it’s made in Germany.

Morning! 5w-30 full synthetic is what it takes 😁👍🏾. I prefer liqui molly or bmws twin power turbo oil from the dealership

JonSantiagoRAW i went to canadian tire to buy it. But i dont know which one oil previously used in my vehicle during oil service. If i put 5w 30. Is it any problem there ?

@@varinderkumar3858 Use oil that's BMW LL01 approved. Penzoil Platinum euro 5w40. That's what I use for my 2013 X5 35i xDrive. Also available at Canadian Tire and often its on sale.

M series cars burn oil quicker, higher rpm also

I just had the 55k service in June, and 3 months later I've got a low engine oil and low coolant light. Wondering if that is normal?

@gigiflaner3568 I'd say you've got a leak on both, unless where you live is mega hot and the coolant is working super hard every day.

Check your oil level sensor. Pretty common thing to go out on N55s. Don't put extra oil in the engine!

You have to give it some time , drive for 3 days if it still on then you have to change the oil senser .
