We were invited to ‪@novritsch‬ headquarters in Vienna and we were impressed by the quality and capabilities of their airsoft guns.
When Žiga did airsoft 15 years ago things were a bit different. Technology went on and now we have airsoft guns that are almost perfect replicas of real guns - especially the Gas Blowback guns.
So besides the fact that airsoft games can be super fun we also think that there is a lot of potential in using airsoft replicas for training that translates to real guns.
Žiga is already super excited and planning possible force-on-force scenarios and tactical training.

There was that Japanese airsofter who did spectacular when he was handed real guns T-Rex Arms. He only needed a few minutes of familiarization with the guns' recoil, and that's it. First-time real firearm shooter did better than so many others. Why? Because he trained himself with airsoft.

Back before the apocalypse when I was a kid we would have airsoft shootouts with the neighborhood kids. Mostly police or agent type stuff (we had pistols only) but I really think it helped us not only making habit of basic weapon controls and safety, but also things like cover, peeking, threat assessment (as we would have non combatants lol) reaction times, pistol drawing and reloads, trigger control and moving target engagement. All before we graduated to adults with real training and guns. I'd definitely recommend them for beginners

Just some cheap entertainment with some friends. Nothing too special. Was some of the best times we had as a group. We had to use our imagination back in the day. We also had bb gun sniper battles in the mountains but those ended up being much more scary and painful then airsoft. Those were more competitive than fun. We would have one or two kids as evasive snipers and a few squads of kids hunting them. But plastic low velocity bbs are one thing, and not hard to get others into it. High velocity copper and steel bbs are another, people tended not to want to play anymore when branches are being shot off trees and chunks of rock and cover shattering around their face lol. We never thought about just how fatally deadly it could be until someone we knew brother took a BB that snuck between his ribs and into his heart that killed him. We never got serious injury past some minor skin breaks and bruises though. It was kinda common sense not to be pumping air more than what would just hurt bad. We would also set up melee fights with teams and wooden equipment. That was probably the most dangerous and we'd usually go home with the shit beat out of us. Fun times. I feel bad for the kids growing up with the only communication with their friends, family and community done through a screen.

@ulfhedtyrsson

Lol no. Some of us would volunteer. Nobody like that would want to be in range of us most of the time. Though my mother did get shot in the face one afternoon opening a window. Kid ran all the way across town home crying after afraid my mom was going to tell his mom he shot her in the face lmao. But no, for example, we would have sort of game modes. Some including police shoot outs, bank robberies, and even HVT or escorting Congress or a president or something. We had alot of fun ideas. We would take turns playing not combatants. Plus playing the president is fun. I even bought a stealth setup that were two working suppressed 1911s like agent 47 and we'd do the whole hitman thing back when those first came out on PS2. Some of my friends parents got mad at me asking why I was training their kids how to sneak up on each other and slit their throats lmao

If you’re gonna use airsoft for training… research the differences b/w co2 and green gas. Very important. Also, there’s many exact replicas of different pistols if you want to train with your specific handgun in mind. Glock, PPQ, HK45, USP, Staccato etc. Do some research before wasting money. (Especially if you’re doing this to save money) If one brand is a lot cheaper… there’s a reason. If you don’t want the orange turd on the end of the barrel, order from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan… they’ll still legally add it on but won’t Loctite the crap out of it. Use a heat gun (or hairdryer) and it’ll come off w/o ruining the gun. Just know your local laws but keep the Orange tip if you’re gonna travel with it, just lightly glue back on. Inside your house… no ones gonna care.

What's really cool with airsoft nowadays, is that there are plenty of options you can choose from. You want something very realistic and money is no problem ? Go for shell-ejecting guns. You want something less expensive but also realistic ? Go for GBBR. You want something (usually) cheap, not very realistic, but very convenient ? Go for AEGs. It's always going to be safer than with real guns and also way cheaper.

I had a ak74u replica airsoft electric with full metal gearbox. Thing was awesome. Also a colt 1911 replica green gass blow back. They were both fairly powerful. At point blank range they'd both could give you blood blisters. A few times it drew blood but it never actually penetrated. The ak held it's velocity longer so I can get accurate shots at a longer distance. Both really fun and good training as a young kid.
@mananaVesta
@mananaVesta Год назад
Unfortunately you cannot train mag changes with airsoft AKs very well because airsoft mags are fragile things compared to the real deal. With ARs you just shove them in - that works. But the angled leveraging movement used for AK mag changes tends to break plastic real soon.
@carnage50x
@carnage50x Год назад
@@mananaVesta you still get the functionality and feel. I agree the airsoft magazines are fragile so mag kicks aren't advised. Also, I was able to clip in a real magazine into the airsoft rifle. I did have to remove the main spring and guide as it interfered with the airsoft. But the main body clipped in...

I don't understand why is totally ok to talk about dry firing thousand of times, but everybody acts like you're an idiot if you have a bb coming out the barrel. Like I can't legally shoot in my backyard and at my friends with a real gun... P.s. about the difference with the glock mag, I think is due to the weight balance: real mag are up-front heavy(lead in front and just the spring in the base) while airsoft mags are back-bottom heavy(gas cartridge there and only a valve on the top, plus the bb are plastic)

I think some people view airsoft as toys for kids and then have ego problems because of their own insecurity. Airsoft is just airsoft, realistic looking replicas that are more powerful and accurate then paintball. What is not to like about it? It can be fun and it can also be a very effective training tool, it just depends on how you use it

I grew up in the 80's. There was no airsoft. We (and by we I mean 8-12 yr olds) war gamed with either daisy Red Ryder or if you had an actual pump airgun it was 3 pumps max but the daisy was faster and preferred. We also shot bottle rockets and Roman Candles at each other and no bike helmets. It was a different time. I miss those days.
