We all know the reason you go ultralight is so you can bring more beer 🤣🤣

Weed is lighter, smaller, easier to carry.

My $1 Walmart poncho is my most used rain gear after three Caminos and (some of) the PCT.

My top 3 ultralight things that I upgraded and never looked back were my tent, my sleeping bag and my sleeping pad. I cut approx 10lb of weight and with the 15 degree down sleeping bag (2.5lb) and insulated sleeping pad (1lb) I never been cold at night since.

I’ve used frogg toggs for years as far as rain gear and I wrap up everything in my bag in either dry sacks or trash bags.

Where I live I actually carry extra clothes in the summer because we have humidity here so high that you're drenched in sweat in an hour and once I'm ready to lay down for the night I want those sweaty clothes off and away from my tent lol

For me it’s all about being smart. Go ultralight where it makes sense and going with durability where it doesn’t and where comfort makes more sense. Backpacks are a huge example of where I will carry more weight for more comfort for example.

I recently went to nemo for the disco sleeping bag and a really warm sleeping pad. Probably my best choice yet. In the summer time, I can still use the gear (just maybe not the sleeping bag on the warm nights)

So we kayak camp, so we can take like 4 times the gear you can backpacking. What all kind of gear would you take if you could take 4 times the equipment? Like creature comforts and wants

I’ve got a thermarest neoair xtherm but personally I found it really uncomfortable

On flat ground it is comfortable enough but if there is any slope then not good. Exped mat eats slopes for breakfast.

Sea to summit etherlight is the most comfortable pad I’ve ever had

I have the Xtherm and I wouldn’t have any other way. Above 8,000’ it’s a must, paired with a 0 degree thermarest mummy bag and I’ve not been cold again. Summer time I pack an alpaca blanket, less weight and still comfortable on a cool night.

I've tried the Uberlite about 3 times and nothing but issues with leaking. I have Exped mats and the Nemo Tensor and love it. Will carry the extra weight for the wide Tensor

I am so over ultralight. I'd rather hike fewer miles and be safe and comfortable.
