My adhd gets me tired, I sometimes I sleep 14 hours a day if I work really hard at work the day before
@youradhdgirl
@youradhdgirl 2 года назад
Saaame, and on those days, you know what the most important thing is? Not feeling guilty about it! Beating yourself up will only result in procrastination 👈🏻 let’s be okay with feeling super tired one day or several days in a row - it doesn’t mean anything about ourselves 😉

Those “study with me” videos really help me get stuff done. I recently made a video about Merve’s “study with me” videos and how well they work for me. It’s super weird how something so simple helps me so much.

I love Merve’s videos! I watched them a lot at one point 👌 ASMR study with mes and Lofi Girl videos are also amazing as background music for getting stuff done ✅

Make it distraction free 1. Turn phone off 2. Get noise canceling headphones 3. Clutter-free space Make it enjoyable 1. Make a cup of tea (a cozy ritual) Make it structured 1. Make clear barriers for yourself 2. Pomodoro technique 🍅 3. Get an accountability partner (focusmate)

Phone off is very important! Much to everyone's annoyance I have my phone always on do not disturb mode. I get back to people on my schedule, which mainly turns out to be never. But calls and messages used to screw up my day so much with ADHD and now not half as much. Will also try using my headphones in a similar way, I often do this when travelling but didn't think to use it for a productivity strategy. Thanks :)

An ADHD person one's already runs short of time and then comes the zoning out and the f*ck ups.. ah..... a regular person easily bounces back but to an ADHD person it's frustrating how you can never adapt to the f*ck ups. It's like I've been destined to fight myself from zoning out for life. One of the biggest drawbacks of ADHD is inability to learn from mistakes or experience.

So true. So many times I feel so horrible about myself..that I struggle with things that most 12 year olds can do. Or suppose I know Fact A AND I know Fact B, Fine, but does it occur to me to put them together to come to Conclusion C??? Not often. Those in particular, are the times I feel soooo stupid and embarrassed. What's worse is my kids (adults) who BOTH have ADD mind you, are often on my back saying "why did you say that, if you couldn't do it?' or "Well it doesn't seem to much to ask for you to get here at ...some particular time.!!??" It's worse when you children judge you. I get so upset.

I've been using cups of tea as a working cue for years without ever identifying it as such. When I'm desk working with pomodoro timings, or I'm on a video call or webibar where uninterrupted focus is needed, I'll get a new cup of tea every 20/30 minutes to act as a 'reset' for my attention
@youradhdgirl
@youradhdgirl 2 года назад
The reset thing! That’s exactly what it is! Sometimes I’ll want to start another task at my desk and I’ll feel stuck because my cup of tea is empty haha. And then im also like « does it count as procrastination if I go downstairs and make myself another one? » 😂 classic decision paralysis example
@tomoakley760
@tomoakley760 2 года назад
@@youradhdgirl i think of the tea making 'ritual' as time to let my brain wander a bit while still having something physically happening to give some stimulation (I find the sound of a boiling kettle oddly comforting! 😅). So it's not so much "procrastination", it's more like the rest interval in-between a workout 'set'.

This is really good advice! I did expect things like cleaning the house or doing the dishes to be more covered and a lot of this is really catered to homework or computer/desk type work but it's still helpful and good to keep in mind!

Great video! I like the noise cancelling headphones idea. I’ll try that! (A small suggestion… the background music in the video is somewhat distracting. Maybe it’s just me that finds it distracting?). 👍👍
@youradhdgirl
@youradhdgirl 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment Luana ☺️ what would be your suggestion exactly? I’m curious to know whether you’d like to have it completely removed or quieter. I personally wouldn’t get rid of it completely because I like the vibe it gives to the video but I can see how ADHDers could have trouble focusing on the content if the nature of the music or the loudness is too distracting!
@LuanaOnMaui
@LuanaOnMaui 2 года назад
@@youradhdgirl - I prefer no background music when someone is talking. It makes it hard for my brain to focus on what the person is saying when there’s music. I like music before, during transitions, etc. Again, its probably just ME. I’ve always had a super hard time focusing when there’s excess noise. 🤦🏻‍♀️😵‍💫

@@youradhdgirl maybe you already did this, but how about a video with different samples of music and the volume and do a survey? I'm guessing not everyone will agree, but hopefully a majority. I find background music distracting if it's not just simple melodious almost "muzak". Quietly in the background. If it's a complex orchestra with lots of tempo and key changes, that is waaaaay to distracting. Definitely nothing with lyrics/singers.

Sorry but the the music in the background please eliminate. Yes it's hard for someone with ADD to focus on what you are saying OR the music. I can't do both.
@TheDogAndTheBee
@TheDogAndTheBee Год назад
its interesting to me how every adhd/add is different. For me, the music makes me focus more on the video and what she‘s saying. with other videos i‘m finding myself getting distracted by everything around me and then i need to jump back in the video a view times to catch up with the information. But maybe its the fact that music is my strategy to get as much focus as my brain can manage for something.
