I saw him back in 98. I was only 19 but I was raised on his music. I learned that he was performing at the theater a few blocks away from the homeless shelter that I was staying at. I had to to see him. 3 years later he left us. I am very grateful that I got to see him. I own 300+ phonograph records, mostly from my childhood.

I happy I had the opportunity to hug this man after a small venue concert before he died too young. His music brought so much joy to my life.

This song gets stuck in my head from time to time, and it's really hard to evict.

John, played for me twice in Guerneville CA (81-82). Despite his fear of flying, he flew in from a gig back east the morning of the show and we helicoptered him in 100 miles from SFO.. No finer gentleman than John H and the greatest opening act for a music festival imaginable. John and my daughter, Sharon, shared the same disease. It got 'em both.

I wore out most of my John Hartford vinyl, especially Mark Twang. I thought of him recently when we crossed the Cumberland river near Nashville. Somewhere he's slumberin on the Cumberland I'm sure

Art Stamper, my father sang this song to me after I left my record in the backseat during one of his concerts. This song just popped into my head because yesterday I just found my father‘s first album that he cut at age 16 with the Stanley Brothers. I guess I better go get that out of my backseat before it gets hot.

I saw him in Spokane, Washington sometime in the 80's. He was a wonderful entertainer. So sad that he died so young.

First heard this on Dr Demento in 1986. It REALLY applies in Phoenix - for CDs, Cassettes, mp3 players, etc.

This was the year John brought Tommy Smothers along to perform yo-yo tricks. They sang Hey Babe, ya wanna yo-yo?
