Thank you very much John and Jeremy for reviewing this special Boucher model. We are very privileged to have JP Cormier as an ambassador and have you guys as a Boucher dealer. We are extremely proud of this special 000-12 fret guitar designed to meet JP’s preferences. Being a very special Boucher model, we always pay special attention when selecting soundboards for the SM-JP-56 model. It’s also important to point out that it is available without pickguard. In this case we always include a specific JP Cormier and a tear drop style pickguard in the hardshell case to please player who might prefer a more subtle look. We can also confirm that the cutaway design has essentially no negative incidence on the sound when compared to the non cutaway HG-56 or HG-56-M equivalent models. The 25.5” scale allows for better tone and power, but also a better intonation. Thank you very much everyone for watching! Best regards from the whole team,

I sold my Martin D35 in order to raise funds for a personalized Boucher Heritage/000-12 fret Slot Head Master Pack, with an Adirondack torrefied Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a K&K pickup. I love it so much... I'm in the process of selling another Martin to acquire another Boucher.

Owned one of these. Was great. Only cons for me were the string spacing was a little much for me with smaller hands. Didn’t like changing strings with slotted head stock. Other than that it was great. Would also like to hear one in Mahogany!

Great review on this beautiful guitar. Hopefully everyone checks out J.P.’s Channel and live show called String Theory live on Wednesday nights @ 7 pm eastern time. It’s an awesome show with interesting topics and lots of love and laughter. I have one of these Boucher J.P. Signatures and my oh my it sounds better every day. A true heirloom guitar. As expected… I have to disagree with you guys on the pick guard and cutaway. I love them both for their uniqueness. Besides that, I’ve had hundreds of guitars and I feel that this is the most well rounded guitar I’ve personally ever owned that I’ll show up anywhere with.

Great guitar and good review. Minor point: the hinge strap on your case is folding to the outside, a minor annoyance about some of Boucher's cases. I fixed mine by ironing it correctly against a flat board. Now it folds into the case every time.

FYI We always prefer the strap to fold outside the case. John once had a case hinge strap fold in, and some chemical in the nylon ate the finish off the guitar top in a perfect rectangle. From then on, we always fold it out to be safe.

@@jeremychapman7243 Seriously?? The strap on mine also always wants to hang outside the case. That back side latch doesn't always line up when I close the case either...minor annoyances.

Sounds great! The pick guard is a bit much. I would have to trade that out for a small simple "Martin" style teardrop.

I have a jumbo sg 63 .I am not happy with it.I think they are overrated.Mine sounds great in drop D but the sound is jumbled at times .Some chords seem to be slightly out of tune.Phantom notes at times too

Hello sir, We are sorry to hear that you guitar is producing phantom notes. This phenomenon is virtually impossible to predict and happens without any notice. Most of the times, this phenomenon will attenuate with time as the guitar settles. We would suggest visiting you trusted luthier that might be able to correct some of the things that you described. A great set up can really bring the best out of our guitars.

I know there are markers on top of fretboard, but $5700+ and no dot markers on face of the fretboard? Why?

Well it is a signature series so it's built to the designer's preferences. That being said I'm sure you could order the guitar with Fret Markers in the board!

@@AcousticShoppe Designer's preference? Don't players prefer fretboard markers, the folks he's selling to. I'm sure fretboard markers would cost extra. Why not just include them? Just wondering..

@@jimmyv6703 The designer is actually a player, JP Cormier, & I think he just prefers the markers on the side. Same thing with John, in this video on the left, on his main guitar (a Bourgeois guitar), it does not have markers in the fretboard. It totally just comes down to personal preference! On the cost side on things, I'm sure it may be a little extra but there is probably leeway in the price with Boucher when it comes to making a custom guitar. They typically sell in "packs" their various upgrades, they're totally worth checking out: boucherguitars.com/

Hello Jeff, The JP Cormier signature model is available without the pickguard if you would prefer a different look. We include a tear drop style pickguard in the case with these ones. This allows customers to install the JP Cormier or the tear drop style. Some do not install the pickguard at all. Thank you!

Sorry, Fellas - another 'not-a-fan-of-large -pick-guards' comment: especially on this small-body - it just covers up too much top wood and 'steals the show' in the looks department; and not in a good way. Looks like it was stolen from a Gibson Hummingbird or Dove. Other than that - great slotted-head model. Your mileage may vary.
