Rolex have always kept their purchase price value in the 35 years since I first bought one. I think all this talk of people boasting about profit is a convenient myth for Rolex haters. That said, they were: A/ Not ‘illusions’ B/ Are not ‘broken’ C/ Demand is not ‘going away’ I think you are conveniently confusing ‘Rolex owners’ with Rolex flippers (who would flip anything for a profit). Most people who sell anything for more than they paid for it would be keen to mention it down the pub. Its not necessarily kudos’ or ‘bragging’, it’s just conversation a lot of the time. I can thoroughly understand why that’s what some people hear though! The lust (to purchase at list price) is, and always has been, because they are fantastic watches!

Eveb at list price, Rolex are over priced!

@@Bassingtons We should agree to disagree maybe, but not quite sure which high street watch brand is not over priced based on that statement. Omega certainly are as you should expect a discount, and even then their value plummets if you did need to sell. Breitling are joke prices, so I guess it’s just Tudor that potentially offer value at list, but they have serious QC issues (not the GMT date either).

@@Bassingtons Well that’s how I have always seen it. As you said yourself, they make the most watches so have a high street presence like Omega etc. VC etc. not so much.
