He's so strong that most of these elbows thrown at him would be ejections but since he barely flinches from them it doesn't look nearly as bad as it would on other players
I think he kinda expects those kinds of things to happen as it's the nature of being a center you're probably gonna take a lot of bumps, he manages himself very well
God I miss Steven Adams in OKC. Dude may honestly have been the strongest dude pound for pound in the NBA. You know the joke 'When Chuck Norris does a push up he's not pushing himself up, he's pushing the Earth down', that joke was inspired by Steven Adams...when other NBA players push Adams, they're not pushing him away, they're pushing themselves away from him as he stands in place
I mean the first play in the video he was just boxed out and theatrically threw himself to the ground. The other guy had nothing to do with it didn’t even know what happened. Not to mention Adams was moving towards that little guy and some how that little guy change his trajectory in an instant like it was nothing
Announcer said Adams went for the head first and sounded all sure and pivoted to hitting the back during the replay. Replay shows from a different angle and Adams didn’t even touch him with an elbow. Announcer is a clown for sure
I haven't had anyone like that on my class, here in Spain us that sit behind are not the quiet ones that's for sure, if anything we didn't shut our mouth, nobody told us anything either, happened once or twice and let's say we were the big kids and very immature and very conflictive, it got ugly for whoever told us, once was the teacher and what we done to her was shameful even if I wasn't the one that did it.
@@2kmichaeljordan438 Hahaha yea I guess, we just had fun nothing else, not a disturbing as you might think, sometimes yea we were annoying, but cmon we all have those stupid days that we can't shut our mouth or that we laugh at every stupid shit under the sun, plus man it's easy to say that on here but telling the sixteen or seventeen year old me to shut up like that as much as I regret it now wouldn't end up well, since I've been since eleven training martial arts and as a teen let's say I was nice towards everybody but I kinda took every small disrespect (When it wasn't a joke or somebody that I really was good friends with) to beat whoever it was up, I obviously don't do that anymore but give an inmature teen that's about 6'4 at 14 that actually knows how to fight a chance or an excuse to beat you up and he probably will take it, and so did I. It was few times that it happened, but it did happen six or so times, still, I wasn't annoying at class we used whisper while talking irrelevant stuff, so we wasn't trying that hard to be annoying (Btw if you about to respond and mention the fact that I wrote a newspaper save it, I'm locked up cuz of the fucking virus it's 2:25 AM here, Im being kinda nostalic... Excuse the letter 😅)
@@2kmichaeljordan438 Umm same I don't know what to say, I might turn Jimmy Kimmel into a whiteface again that fake dweeb. Also 2K is on steroids just in case you were wondering.
I love the way everyone seems to get in the way of the other player first before Steve. 2 or 3 in-between them to save the thunder and rage they fear but he remains calm. He's like that brick wall they have for the crash test dummies.
Look at the man children playing bouncy ball! I want to be a man child too and put one of their names on my back! Because there's nothing that says "im a big boy, guys!" by wearing ANOTHER man's name on my back!
That was my thought. One time someone is going to think they big and bad and Adams will hit them once and everyone else will back the hell up and go ok we need to not mess with him.
@@sincerelymike he is there to do a job and to do it well he has to push the boundary’s so that’s what he does.. not nasty dirty just get in peoples way with attitude and create space where needed and deny space when needed
@@hapeta24 i agree. the other guy is just another one of these soft ass people from the new generation (mine) and cry all day. i play ball at the gym and get smacked around and we just take it.
Yep, there's a huge difference between physical and dirty. Adams is physical and someone like Zaza is dirty. A lot of these NBA players aren't used to being roughed around. The sports from AU/NZ and EU tend to allow more contact.
@@Szubak I think you’re spot on about sports outside the US, there is so much more contact allowed in some sports outside of the US. It’s wild man I think it’s rugby if I’m correct but they FUCK each other up lol really tough dudes for sure I couldn’t imagine transitioning from something like rugby to basketball 😂
Yeah as an Australian, I grew up watching my brothers play rugby which is a lot of physical contact. However what I’ve noticed is that it gets more personal more quickly watching more American professional sports now. In addition, arguing with refs and I’ve even seen fights where they are thrown in the middle of it. Even though I didn’t play a lot of sports, girls and guys (but especially with more physically aggressive sports like rugby), it gets drilled into us from a young age to be respectful especially of refs and coaches.
@@vnmeister9418 yeah I played rugby from 6-15 years old and players were always respectful to refs unlike football players, and also no matter what happened on the pitch we’d always go to the rugby club for sausage and chips and get along with the other team after the game
@@pondturt not sure but form the looks of it, he didn't do a thing cause he wanted to be certain what exactly happened there from a replay camera. Penalties also aren't a joke to go crazy and regret later.
awesome entertaining video! one of the first ever to highlight just how violent and physical basketball really is. adams, a huge guy, is a smart player who took many blows pushes punches shoves and still maintained his composure. great video. more videos like this one please
Hahahahahahhahaha. I wanna like this comment 100 times it's so funking true. Not gi Joe though a trainee give Joe. Then he went full on Indian warrior soldier with mustache and long hair. Then evolved to khal drogo
When he was with OKC I used to wish he'd just mess one person up just to see what he could do, esp the series where Green kicked him in the biscuits twice. Man, he deserved all the rage Adams has stored up.
Not everyone flops man the ones who flop are the guys trying to go for 40 a night like Russ harden curry LeBron etc. Also it's not "leave alone" it's "let alone"
My favorite thing about Adam's is he could really score 20 points per game. He has great footwork, he has a soft touch. They could throw it up ti the basket. But its not in the game plan for him to score and he doesn't care. All of his coaches have said the same
I love Adams(Grizz fan) but he doesn't have 20 ppg in him. He doesn't have that good of touch or really any go to moves on the block and he's lost a lot of hops due to injury/age where he's not a vertical spacer anymore. That being said he really doesn't care about his stats and you're right. I think the most underrated aspect of his game is passing. Grizzlies have put him in a Marc Gasol esque role where he is the distributor in the high post. He has some nice bounce passes that lead to free baskets for our guards when they cut. He had 2 or 3 against the Bulls on MLK day
@@ohishwaddup I like your input, just disagree on the scoring. Shaq said the same thing about Adams. He could easily put up 20 per game. One thing is he is still only 28 a d does t put up alot of minutes. He shoots it 5 times per game, that's it. Only time he's taken 9 shots per game He averaged 14. If he averaged 17 shots per game like Karl Anthony towns that would put him around 22 per game not even counting the fact he would get fouled more. Even if he only made 4 out of 8 free-throw attempts that would put him around 25ppg.that would put him right around guys like Jokic,towns... its just not what they want him or need him to do. If guys like kareem, shaq, Duncan watch and say he could average 20 EASY, then I'm kind of inclined to believe them.
@@Dgen99 I think in those guys eras I definitely think he could I'm just talking about these days. Shaq is extremely biased to dudes like him compared to Towns who he considers soft. I haven't seen Kareem or Timmy say anything like that but if they did I would definitely trust them. I think his early development in New Zealand really held him back as far as developing a more overall game. He could always be the biggest and strongest guy on the court over there which has obviously been applicable to the NBA but he wasn't taught a lot of the skills that are taught in more basketball oriented countries to big guys like go to post moves, foul line jumpers, etc. I wonder what kind of player he could've been if he moved over here younger but then we wouldn't have his great accent and personality :). I wanna say thanks for being so respectful even if we disagree lol. Makes basketball a lot more enjoyable to discuss compared to a lot of the idiots on Facebook or Bleacher report lol
@@ohishwaddup it's so much better to have actual conversations and I agree to disagree. Only because its a numbers game. He does have a weird combo of skills for his size. The strength is a difference maker also. Like Zion(if he weren't injury prone/lazy) he is just strong. Like a whole other level strength. The issue with most big guys is usually they were always the biggest/strongest in there schools or there area. They get in the league and realize, oh this guy is stronger than me. There are a few guys though that they ARE the standard. There just isn't a player naturally stronger than he is.If you are just really that much stronger than. Even a guy like ayton or embiid that is a miss match. That's what shaq was speaking on. He is just stronger, he can sit in the paint like he does for his offensive rebounds and if he had a chris Paul type guy give him 18-20 shots per game he is going to make half of them. Players have an issue moving him and he keeps the ball high like old school centers. So guys like Joel/giannis even try to bully people. It's hard to bully someone your size who can literally pick you up like a toddler a d move you out of the way. That's why it does t seem too far fetched to me. He isn't athletic, but neither was Duncan. What he did though was keep the ball high and shoot a short shot off the glass.
I saw him in person when OKC played Chicago 8 ish years ago so everybody is shocked by how he looked prior to the tattoos and facial hair and I’m the opposite lol
Nah not necessarily, being big or an NBA player don't mean you can hit somebody and it's over, I don't think I need to prove to you that for now NBA players have shown that if anything they got shit on fighting, K.O'd stiff by a fucking RU-vidr... What a shame man 😂
@@Samford404 This is the dumbest comment I’ve read. You’re use a 5 foot guy to compare to a 7 footer XD please stay in fortnite till your balls drop kid
Cousins must have realised Adams takes elbows to head from folks every game with zero reaction... also don't think he wanted to be the first NBA player in history to get buried by a member of the Justice League.
Nope , not at all , Malone , Barkley , Oakley , rodman , morning , Robinson , mutombo, Davis brothers from Indiana , Ewing , believe me , they were not weak at all
