I'm actually surprised that with that pink mold that you were able to get it to come out as well as it did since with most UV resin you have to use a clear mold so that's pretty impressive.

I've been trying to get help because apparently I'm doing it wrong. My jdiction device has 3 settings- 60, 90, 150 seconds. Even at the lowest setting, the dye I add shrinks up and deforms the resin slightly. And when I demold, there is a sticky mess. Using high viscosity.

Why do you use the lighter.. and will it cure without a uv lamp?

The lighter is to burst the bubbles, and it will cure with regular sunlight, but it takes longer

Hi, I want to use UV Resin to put a hard coat over some small paintings (around 10cm square, some a bit smaller, some a little bigger). I'm having a hard time getting to to level and not leave streaks. The repairs for this are visible. What would you recommend for types of UV Resin and tools to make this work? thank you!

I recently tested out J Dictions UV resin when I was looking for a thin viscosity resin, as the Thin viscosity formula I was using with my other brand was causing my UV color pigments to fade upon curing... I personally was not happy with JDiction's products... mostly with the low viscosity formula... It had a slight yellow tinge after a 2-minute cure when testing, and has yellowed significantly during my yellowing test in only 30 days in a sunny window... I have tester pieces a year-old with another popular brand that are still crystal after a year in a window. also wasn't personally happy with the so-called "low viscosity" as I know of other brands who make significantly lower viscosity formulas, for me and my experience... it is more of a medium viscosity resin. I feel like JDiction has changed their formula somewhere as their UV resin does not seem to be as good as it used to be... especially with the yellowing. These are just my experiences using UV resin for my jewelry for over a year that I sell in a local shop.

You came across my resin channels today! I have the same little UV light. They're cheap, get a new one before you hurt yourself lol jk. Question, I've been doing resin for 2 years on and off to start a small business and compile enough for a start up. No matter what mold I use, the resin is foggy on the underside (mold side) and I haven't gotten the right buffing tool yet for polishing. I really don't want to blame it on the resin as I'm using a super spendy one (not promoting but you can find it by initials TB) and follow another channel who never seems to have any problems with it. I stir it enough, cure it the right amount, not too hot or cold, no bubbles. 😭 New subscriber here. 😊

Was looking for some advice, and if my art project gives you idea's for content or things to sale, fantastic. I was using one of those square something like 8 inches, where i do art projects, its not safe to use normal resin (its a work shop, others are there for different lengths of time), so i am using uv, i just did a light tint of blue acrylic transparent paint, i don't want a thick piece (yet), so i put under the lamp, besides warping (thats simple fix, heat weight it down, wait fix), but it stuck to the mold on one side, and pitted and did some other things on the top, was thinking to sand it down, but was hoping you might have a video on how to not have this happen. and or fix this so both sides are shiny. i plan taping the edges just a mm ( the edge is so i can attach to a frame after.), or so, with tape, spay mirror effect spray paint on one side, and using your tip on putting uv resin in a needle bottle, and doing a darker shade of the tint, I am then filling in with different shade of complementary colors. Another project is similar just doing a layered picture, layers of uv resin, and still the mirror effect spray paint on back, either way, both sides need to be nice and shiny. Thank you, and i understand if me asking for help like this is a bit much.

Won't use any other UV Resin than JDiction, the smell is so much lower than others, and the jewelry pieces come out so clear and wonderful. Thank you for explaining these, because I am about in need of new bottles and with my new studio, I have plans for things to spruce it up as well

Their original formula does not have much of a smell, but I recently tested out the low viscosity formula and it indeed does have a smell to it that is different than their original, and also it was not as low viscosity as I would have thought... it was more of a medium viscosity... I also experienced a bit of yellowing after a two-minute cure on a test piece which went into my window and was significantly more yellow after only 30 days... I have test pieces from my resin that I typically use that is a year old now and still crystal clear, so I wasn't significantly happy with J dictions low viscosity formula it seems the formulation is different somehow.

I used the low viscosity to shine up a 3d print and bring out the shine as you did with the block. But after curing for 2 minutes it was tacky still so I tried curing for an additional 2 min. Still tacky. Any idea what could have happened. I also only did a light brush on. I did not lay it thick.

My friend you have your high/low viscosity qualities mixed up... something with high viscosity will not have much flow resistance and will run like water. For something with intricate details you should use a high viscosity because it will more easily flow into smaller areas thanks to its low density and lack of surface tension. Something with a low viscosity will be highly resistant to flowing and will run with a syrup-like consistency. Try making a dome with the low-V resin and you will surely see 😅

I just googled it and you're mixed up. High viscosity means very little flow, such as peanut butter or toothpaste. Low viscosity means easily runs. Water is the lowest viscosity.

@@stephaniecollins6052 That's correct, but it looks like JDiction has them mixed up, assuming Steve was calling them the names on the labels. He said the high viscosity resin is thicker and better for doming and the low viscosity is thinner and better for intricate molds. It bugged me the whole time I was watching the video.

Was thinking about the high viscosity because I stink at doming - always spilling over the edge - grrrrrrr but I don't use enough to buy 3 bottles, don't they sell it just one bottle? Some people will take Eco as economy/cheap, so we changed the name. It's the same, don't worry. The eco/new formula uses more environmentally friendly materials than before, and the formula has also been adjusted on the basis of the classics. The most intuitive feeling is that the odor of the new formula is lighter.

The viscosity is different, and the high viscosity is more suitable for doming projects. The classic is medium viscosity, general purpose.

BUDGET FRIENDLY IDEA!!⭐️⭐️⭐️ If anyone else has a small budget like me, when I want a holographic background in my work, I bought a cheap holo party table cover (table cloth?) and have used it for the background of my pop socket phone grips and cutting up little pieces for holo chunky glitter! It works AMAZING, and you get a huge piece for under $5.00 that will last forever! I haven’t tried it with epoxy resin yet, but it works great with my UV resin! And if you want other colors of chunky glitter, just get another color of table cloth from the party decoration section! HAVE FUN STAYING CRAFTY ON A BUDGET! 🌸✌🏼😊

Hi Steve. I've been playing with a few different resins as of late, and I noticed that after curing, you can still leave a finger print on the surface. I left a different one alone for an hour or 2 after curing, and it was 100% hardened. Is this a problem with my resin, or is it standard practice to leave them alone to "Fully" cure? Cheers, mate!

Steve, thank you for this video. I'm new to resining & I didn't know there is different kinds of resin. Also you proved other info wrong. The articles I read about UV resin said it can only be used in a clear, the white kind, silicone molds. Then you make a flower in the solid color mold using the UV resin. Thank you!

So this is why whenever I try to dome, it runs all over! So glad I watched this. I guess I've been using the new formula for everything...only been doing this for about a month. Thanks so much!

Thanks Steve, as usual a really informative video. This has helped me a lot as I am new to UV resin (I usually use Jesmonite and Resincrete and I am starting projects using both resin and eco pours) Keep up the awesome work x
