3:55 the study by Guttman from 1963 was done at room temperature without high pressure, the yellow complex that was formed is called Niacinamide Ascorbate, it forms quite easily, but can also dissociate quite easily. The nicotinic acid studies were indeed done at high pressure and temperature. Besides these two things which indeed do not seems to be of much concern when layering products, niacinamide can however increase the photodegration of ascorbic acid since it acts as an electron acceptor. Could be a reason to not formulate them together.
Hi Dr.Jenny❤ Is it true that some people go on a life time dose of low dose accutane to treat oily skin/ prevent acne? I have met a person was has taken low dose accutane for 7 years till this day! I'm gonna be incredibly grateful if you could reply to my comment or make a video about low dose accutane, whatever is easier for you😊 and thank you!
I'm under treatment of tretinoin 0.025% and azelaic acid 15% and for acne scars and mild melasma and so far I tolerate both together...but azelaic acid I use it every other day.tretinoin every day since my skin adapted it already
I have been using the Ordinary’s 10% Niacinamide serum. I’ts helped me my hyperpigmentation but it stings little (which I don;t mind) but I think it’s creating some pilling itch my moisturizer which is the awesome Vanicream facial moisturizer. My question is: do you think it is likely if i buy a cosmetically more elegant Niacinamide, the pilling could be better? I don’t mind having little dots (they’re not super noticeable) but was wondering if changing brands would improve this.
From instagram to here. Thanks for the great sharing doc. I really love listening to you on skincare tips. I’ve learned alot from you. So grateful for these socmeds platform.
I don't want to speak for Dr. Liu, but I think she is saying to make sure the sunscreen has completely dried down before you layer anything else on top.
Can you make make a video about sunscreen and make up how to apply and which one works well together( not mixing the products literally I know lol) that’s a topic that would help many women out there. ( I have dark under eye circles that’s the why of using makeup) I have seen regular people videos but not from a dermatologist 👀 Thanks for your videos, I’m new to your Chanel ❤
Thanks for sharing this! I love your videos bc I learn something new very time I watch your videos/posts that you share on here. Definitely enjoyed this video. I typically use a soft relaxing lavender moisturizer and a chamomile serum together at night. I feel like it helps and plumps my skin. And I feel like it helps my rosacea and sensitivity that I have on my skin. 😊
Thank you Dr. Jen.. May I ask please, if I can use cerave acne gel in the morning, and adapalene at night, using both with cerave moisturising lotion with niacenamide for daily use? Please, reply..🥺 Thanks in advance..
What are you thoughts about layering chemical and physical sunscreen I like a base of mineral and chemical for reapplication but I’ve heard can be unstable
i think as long as u let them “dry down” u should be fine. i do this too! u can apply ur first application of mineral sunscreen, wait 15-20 min, then apply a reapplication of any sunscreen u want and vice versa. i think the only issues come with reapplying too quickly after first application or literally mixing them together. i’m not an expert though >_
Love your makeup! Light, natural, very pretty! Can you name a few makeup products that you would highly recommend and essential steps in term of skincare before applying makeups? Thnx!
Hello, so I’m prescribed by my derma epiduo forte at night, azelaic spot treatment in the morning and sulfur soap with ssa / gentle cleanser every other day. Can I add niacinamide serum in my routine?
Love your channel! I really appreciate that you give product recommendations and recommendations for affordable and more costly products. If I need to use benzoyl peroxide for hormonal acne (I’m 37 years old). When and what product should I use? I am currently using a benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin product during the day that was rxed by my dermatologist and had wanted to add vitamin C, but it sounds like I shouldn’t. I am using .045% retinol at night.
I'm using an aha& bha shower gel. I apply Cetaphil cream which also contains naicinamide first after stepping out of the shower, and wait for about 15 minutes before i apply the advanced clinicals. The advanced clinicals retinol cream is 500g with 1.3% of encapsulated retinol. Will be waiting for your response. Many thanks.
Dr Jenny thank you so much for addressing that they don't cancel each other, because i think that there is so much info for people with sensitive skin but not so much for those who dont have sensitive skin and actually want to maximize their anti-aging routine. So it is good that you mention that the problem of mixing is not cancelling each other out but potential irritation. Question - ordinary says not to mix their copper peptides with almost anything, is it true and why? Can I apply copper peptides before my tretinoin or combine it with conenzyme Q10 from Timeless? do they like the acidic environment? could I use 3% glycolic acid to help penetraation of copper peptides? thank you!
What about chemical sunscreen and then physical BB cream over it? Or physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen stick on top for reapplication? Is that fine? Does it affect the efficiency or absorption?
Very informative! I'm trying to find if I can use a benzoyl peroxyde wash and a azealic leave-on product in the same routine or not. I found totally opposite answers on the subject. Thanks!
I was using tretinion 0.05% for almost a month now and it shows good development to my skin? My cystic acne are not too active anymore but there are few still coming out. Is it possible if I switch to adapelene?
