What if the car has been sitting almost a year but they were new rotors lol Update: i sprayed the rotors with brake cleaner and most of the rust came off and it just looks like very light surface rust now. Hopefully when the car is running again it won’t be a problem getting them back to normal
you might check into doing a 'brake bed-in procedure' if there is a way to disable regen braking, and rely solely on the disks, you can repeat 10-12 medium-hard (maybe about 75% of the way to abs engagement) braking manoeuvres from about 60mph down to 20mph. this will heat the pad material and cause it to 'bed-in', essentially leaving a very small deposition of pad material on the rotor surface. this causes, in subsequent application of the brakes, the brake rotors and pads to come up to optimal temperature more quickly, they will stop better (ie more quickly), last longer, and relative to this video, the bedded brake rotor can resist rusting through several days of rain.
@@DivineSoul999mine does this every time I wash it as soon as you use the breaks it grinds off. But if your car is old then yeah it’s not gonna come all the way off
This is exactly what happened to my Miata the other night, it rained very heavy and I woke up to see my rotors look and just like that but I haven't drove in in 2 days, will this rust still come off?
How do you clean I noticed this on my Camaro which was never like it before the sitting and rain has done it just like this has spots of rust just like yours
Drive and brake. It will clean off normally. Dont panic. I was too back then but i drove it and gone. Now i have to clean the rust on my wheel hubs. Wtf
