I just did this on my F36 from 2019, I bought it used with lifetime carplay already enabled, but not fullscreen let me tell you IT'S A WORLDS DIFFERENCE having it in fullscreen DAMN
Thx for the video, I really appreciate it! But I do have „one or two“ problems to do it like you… First: I do not have a Windows Laptop or any Windows PC since 2012, and I never will be. Like you we‘re an Apple household and I will not buy even an used older Windows Laptop to code. Second: I was dumb enough in 2018 to buy the Apple CarPlay option via ConnectedDrive Store for my 2017 F31 330dA xDrive LCI… And it was really expensive but I did want to have Apple CarPlay. And there comes my third and biggest issue: Now I have CarPlay since 2018 when I bought my 2017 F31, but NOT in Fullscreen and that sucks to the moon and back! 🤬🤮 Is there any way to „update“ my existing CarPlay to FullScreen Mode? Do you know a way? Cause tbh: I will not pay 54 Dollar or Euro for only getting my existing CarPlay to Fullscreen Mode! It would be awesome if someone could help me with that. Any tips/tricks/hints are highly appreciated! And if it matters: I do own BimmerCode and an Adapter for it. Thanks in advance and kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
Hey Philipp.. Germany! Nice! My dad is from Hann. Münden 🇩🇪 👍 Fortunately since you already have BimmerCode, you should be able to code in fullscreen CarPlay; it's under the head unit section. I wasn't able to test it since the version I got was already fullscreen, but I've read that people were able to use BimmerCode to successfully upgrade. Hope that helps!
At first i tried bimmer code on my 2018 f22. Did not make it full screen. The 1/3 side of the screen where items would usually be just turned white. would you happen to know if i need to code it back to stock inorder for this to work?
Not entirely sure but one thing to check is that you have the latest version of iDrive for your car and also that split screen is disabled. I would check iDrive version; if there's a possible update, revert your BimmerCode change, update, and then check that split screen is disabled (might be in HU_ENTRYNAV or something similar and labeled as split screen display or widget area), and try again. Hope that helps.
I've read that iDrive 5.0 and up should be compatible but if you have the ENavEvo system it may not work (though some people say it can but you need the wifi adapter). Best bet is to contact any one of these places that sells activation codes and see what your options are. I got mine from bimmer-remote.com/ and they were quick to respond to questions.
Mine came without CarPlay but if you had it with an earlier version of iDrive, it only displayed on 3/4 (I think) of the screen.. so this makes it fullscreen for all versions.
Anytime bro 🍻 couldn’t tell you for sure about the touch screen cause mine didn’t have it to start. Our Nardo F80 does though and I’ll be updating that soon so will be curious to see. I would think it does.
Thanks bro. I didn’t see anything about android from where I got my CarPlay license but check bimmer plug or turner motorsports; they sell head units with android.
