Samples for DSC always need to be encapsulated in a pan, so you can use any old pan right? Wrong! The choice of pan can make (or break!) your experiment. Find out how in this video.
If you want to delve deeper into the design considerations of DSC, there are several excellent reference sources you might look at. I would recommend;
Principles of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (RSC publishing) - Chapter 5
(books.rsc.org/books/edited-vo...)
Differential Scanning Calorimetry - An Introduction for Practitioners
(www.google.co.uk/books/editio...)
Principles and Applications of Thermal Analysis
(onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/b...)

Yes, I think they can. I was following the advice from one of the manufacturers.
