in the original script, they were supposed to kiss. david bowie, who was 39 at the time, refused to kiss a 14 year old jennifer connelly. bowie was a true gem who knew right from wrong
Bowie is calling her beautiful, good at acting, mature... this was clearly taken out of context I see no sexual intentions, you guys are the creepy ones...
Yea, they kinda jumped the gun on this one. I’m so sick and tired of the cancel culture of these over sensitive losers. These are kids who got picked on in school and now they have a chip on their shoulders. A totally destructive and vindictive bunch. Note: I’m not necessarily referring to these two guy who make these videos. I’m referring more to the people who go around canceling everyone for the smallest crap.
"one forgets that she's just 14" because she's such good actress and so talented. It's so obvious what he's pointing out, this shouldn't even need to be on here to be discussed.
@@YourFavoriteBandSucksPodcast she's talking about you guys spreading false rumors that David Bowie was some sort of pedophile which is definitely not true.
He has the pass this time, but let’s not forget when he dated a 14 year old, Lori Maddox. That whole generation is full of child predators, and you can soft pedal it however you can; but it’s still vile.
This is taken out of context. He's just complimenting her, he never kissed her in the film in fact he refused to do so. If he was a creep he would have done it.
He’s not being a creep. Gels just saying that she is an awesome actor and that she is mature for her age. I get told that all the time, it is t sexual in any way.
It's like the nevermind album cover. Upon release, Kurt asked their label to put a sticker on that said "if this offends you you're a closeted p3d0phile"
This is quite clearly taken out of context. Even in the dance scene he didn’t want to kiss her and made sure to keep his distance while they were dancing so that she didn’t feel uncomfortable with him against her
Delete your post, labyrinth is was one of the greatest movies of all time and David Bowie is one of the greatest artists of all time. He was also a stand-up quality man.
don’t make this sexual. david felt uncomfortable with the age gap between them. he was only trying to say that she gorgeous and a great actor to work with in general.
If he was actually creepy he would have accepted to kiss her during the movie. In the script was a kiss between the two and he didn’t do it because she was underage
I'd like to explain a bit. Yes, David Bowie did do a lot of things that were not at all reputable, but that was in the seventies (70's), when he was abusing drugs and alcohol hard. This movie came out in 1986, after he began to heal himself from his addictions. He's shown remorse for the things he did back when he abused drugs and alcohol, from what I know. He did a lot of things, but he was a sweet soul.
I agree, people can change. Talking shyt that happened years ago doesn't define who someone is today. I commended him for becoming a better person, and acknowledging his mistakes and apologizing to the victim. Unlike what happened to me, I never got an apology. Only a label at fricken 4 years old
Not just that the groupie lied about her age, and he fired his manager you can look this shit up yet weirdos still love to pull this "Bowie was a nonce" narrative
David Bowie is the only one who can get away with saying such things because David Bowie is a beautiful soul. He protected vulnerable women in times when they could've easily been taken advantaged of when they were high on drugs after heavy partying. There's actually interviews of a woman testifying to this.
The things that people do on YT to get clicks... I would suggest to the person who uploaded this to actually do something creative -or, at least useful -with their own lives, instead of trying to defame someone who is no longer with us. Someone who, according to anyone who knew him, was a decent, kind person and a gentleman.
Would love if you guys did an episode on one of the various black metal bands out there, especially because those guys are very elitist and would seethe at the sight of someone calling their favorite black metal band trash. I recommend either Mayhem or Burzum.
@@YourFavoriteBandSucksPodcast you survived Pantera and Frank Sinatra. I'm sure if you can survive the wrath of the Mafia you can survive some edgy teens lol
First of all, this was almost 40 years ago, people spoke differently back then. You could be straightforward. You didn't have to tiptoe around certain normal words and phrases that others had changed and assigned "triggering" meanings to. Second of all, David Bowie was a gracious professional and spoke kindly about his colleagues, no matter their age, gender, religion, or skin color. He's actually quite famous for it. Go try and stir up your sick drama somewhere else, jerk.
Oh please...it was the story that she hates babysitting her baby brother. She wishes him gone and david bowie character takes him. Labyrinth is an underestimated flick.
People thinking that the title is only referring to this clip should maybe look deeper. I don't know if there's anything conclusive, but there have been stories. Just very... Interesting.
I feel Bowie is being nice, complimenting her, and the clip is taken completely out of context. I have seen many arguements about Bowie being a sexual predator but they all get debunked by him not kissing her. I also feel his loving marriage with Iman wouldn’t have stuck around.
Don’t you love it when content creators try their best to make these clips go viral when thankfully a lot of us know Bowie was a decent guy lol comes off as projection when you try to force someone into being a creep. Yes he had a drug problem, yes he had a wild side, but I haven’t seen anything that convinces me he was a creep.
aww bless him, he's only complimenting her. Calling someone beautiful isn't always sexual. He was only calling her a good actress for her age. It's not creepy at all. He was a great man.
many people mistake this movie as a love story between a 14 year old and a 40 year old that doesn’t work. but they’ve got it all wrong it’s a movie about realizing that love is not controlling and dangerous, and shouldn’t be determined of wether of one’s own life. tahts what it’s about. that’s the story, not bowie being a creep, bowie being an example, including his own artistic style and blessing this movie with his music and taking a chance with this movie to save others i can’t imagine a person seeing a simple compliment as a sexual move
APART from being quite beautiful, she's a really good actress and a pleasure to work with - one forgets she's 14 years old. It's to do with acting ability 🙄
Nowadays, we sadly live in a world where each and every word we speak is scrutinised, pulled to sreads and labelled with isms, a world where you cannot rip out a good ol fashioned fart without being labelled as a raging serial rapist. I say, well said to David for simply speaking in old school truth. 👏
I agree with everyone here saying he’s not a creep but yes his wording can definitely sound sus. If he ever was a creep it wasn’t too her. There’s also interviews with Sarah years later about what she remembers and she said she enjoyed working with David Bowie. Or something along the lines of that.
I think you really need to look at yourself. He says she is quite beautiful. I tell people there children are beautiful all the time. Btw, he also refused to kiss her in the film.
He even didn’t want to kiss her like what was written in the script . He knew that she was underaged . He talks lovely about her . I think you guys are creepy to put this online . Love Bowie . He was a true gentleman.
