Anybody have 'NO POWER' on HOOVER POWERDASH-PET carpet cleaner? It worked fine the last time i used it (6-7mos ago) now..... no power when red step switch depressed.. 😕 ???
I had the same issue, and i fixed it.. open it up and lift up the on/off switch body and press on on with your finger and if it works your problem is that the on/off switch body was not secured and was pushed up enough till the pedal could not reach it, what i did to fix it i put two pieces of plastic wire/string from a weed eater as a spacer on the right side of the switch body and made sure the clip on the left was holding the switch body
While I appreciate the time you took to make the video, your fast forward method didn't show me where to find all the screws. The last one which took the long handled screwdriver was hard to find as you said. Wound up breaking the thing while looking for it. Now, it is a goner.
I followed what you did and it worked!!!!! I swear I was about to put it on the curb and get something else but I decided to give this a try and now I am back in business. If you are ever in the Boston area I owe you a beer or two or three!! Thanks so much.
I had an interesting problem with a Power Scrub / Spin Brush model... the handle would not pull hard enough to open the spray valve so no water came out. It is under the curved panel on the back side on the Power Scrub (where your knees would hit when your pushing it with the handle up) and found the valve. There was too much flex in the actuating rod from the water spray trigger/handle to push open the valve. I glued a small (1/2" square) piece of plastic I cut from an old storage container handle (about1/8" thick) to the actuating rod where it contacted the valve to make it just a tad longer and push harder so now works great !! Cost nothing!... Hope that helps someone.
My brushes won’t spin. I also cannot get water to come spray out. Do these go hand in hand ? I can’t find any issues with water flow like air in the line etc.
Nice job on the video! Have the same unit and noticed the brushes were not spinning. Disassembled and observed the bearings were completely frozen from rust. Soaked them in PB blaster and they freed up. Appreciate your help in the repair!
My bruahes don't spin and the engine sounds louder than usual. Also noticed a burning smell; would this be due tot his same issue? Haven't opened it yet? Any advise would be great. Thannks in advance!
I am so thankful for you!!!! The only problem I had with my spinscrub was my chinchilla chewing through the cord. I found a new one on ezvacuum and was able to do a tear down thanks to your video. I could not find a SINGLE tutorial or any information at all on where the heck the cord wiring lives on the inside or how to get to it, but your video gave me the confidence to keep going and look for it myself. I figured, oh well, it's either keep looking and mess with this thing and throw it away, or throw it away, and buy a new one anyway. So after MUCH removal and even more teardown (I stupidly took zero pictures before continuing to rip everything apart) I finally found the compartment with the wiring!! Replaced it all on my own and after much guessing of how to get everything back, I was in tears when I turned it on and it was screaming at me after three sad years of it being dead 🥺😭 I am a 32 year old female and I'm just so proud that I was able to figure it out. Thank you for giving me the confidence and for showing the initial teardown!! I am so happy.
I'm so proud of you! You did a great job and sounds like you expanded your knowledge at the same time. It's amazing the strength and skills we have hidden until we take that leap and discover them! Great job!
got mine in 2019 and could tell it was total junk then ...broke in 2022 ..this problem and the spray hose pump not spraying .... land fill its coming!!!
One possible cause is an air leak. If the unit freely spins check to see if you have airflow flowing through it. Also make sure the unit does spin. A frozen bearing will sieze the unit up. Check your gasket in your collection tank and the sealing gaskets under the tank
What in particular are you looking for? The bearings? If it doesn't suck anymore but still runs, check the gaskets on the tank. It operates using negative pressure so a leak in the system wouldn't allow for it to suck up any water.
I have to wonder....when you're done using the unit... if you put a fan to blow through the screen for a few hours so air blows through there and dries it out....this is what I've always done and my brushes haven't stopped spinning... Knock on wood. I really LOVE these cleaners they suck almost all the water back up....and are so easy to use and clean...I wish they made them better.
Oof! I always end up with more parts than when I start with! Could it be a spring for the power button or on the arm that connects between the back the damper on that vortex chamber?
The brushes won't stay in the housing. Nothing LOOKS broken, driving me insane. Please help , what am I doing wrong?.......Took them out too clean, now they look brand new falling in every direction as soon as I let go. Help
Mine recently just stopped workin and I barely had it for a year. I had turned it on and turned it off really quick, I don’t know if that played a factor for it not to turn on again. I was wondering if you know how I could fix it? I did plug it in properly and checked fuse or breaker in my own home. However, I haven’t checked checked it there’s a fuse in cleaner that was blown, I don’t exactly know where the fuse is lol. I’d like to save it as I spent almost $200 on it
New bearings packed with marine grease. Just put that grease on all metal parts. Just clean-out old lubrication first. Any way to get the top bearing out?
My brushes still don't spin. I checked and greased the bearings, the motor puts out great air. The filters are clean, the gasket near the body of the machine (near the top of the waste water tank seals. Still does not spin. what else can I check? ?gasket to hand held spinner? Is there another gasket somewhere for the air to escape before it gets to the spinner?
If you're referring to the bearing in the black housing, I didn't replace it this go around. If I recall you unsnap the clips which exposes the impeller, you have to pull the impeller out and get access to the bearing that way.
So it shouldn't, I may have a bit of an air leak but as the unit only spins the bristles, it wouldn't be a critical leak and should still spin the bristles
Great video! Could you post where you sourced the bearings? The housing on my gearbox is cracked too bad, would ya happen to know where I can get it from? Couldn't find on eBay, thanks!
I tried and sadly the bearings in the turbine still lock up. I'm so tired of this issue every springtime that I've resorted to popping off the brush cartridge and using a 3/8 hex on the brush drive output socket. Mind you, the marine grease on the bearings saved me from having to use vise grips on the hex key to crack 'er free. But I just checked today and I did have to use the hex by hand still to crack it free. Shoddy design.
@@burlwilliams7661, more than likely you're okay if that's the case because frozen bearings will not allow movement. Remember these aren't belt driven brushes, so you'll have to run it on the floor to check for brush activation if in doubt they may not be operating properly.
Oh no! Does the switch click when you press it? If it doesn't, it may not be lined up with the plastic on/off peddle. If it does click, the switch may be bad or the connections may be loose or broken. That's where I'd start. I hope this helps!
I used mine, cut it off went to cut it back on snd nothing. Then i tried a few weeks later cut it on, but i cut it off and now no piwer again. I can see the spring is still there. Please make videos of no power
@@Tturn1977if it randomly cuts on and off more than likely it's a bad switch. I'd recommend pulling the switch and actuating it by hand and see if you get a good positive click. A replacement switche should be reletivly inexpensive online
@@handcraftedoverlanding I guess the motor was burned out. It’s under warranty so they don’t make parts for this anymore. I’m gonna replace for free the entire unit.
You may have a bad switch, I'd recommend opening it up and actuating the button by hand (not with the plastic on/off button.) while unplugged! If it clicks, the problem could be the plastic butting isn't pushing the button down far enough, if it doesn't click, the switch is probably bad. A replacement should be cheap, look on the side of the switch and Google the part number.
Without opening it up, maybe run it for a few extra minutes on a dry patch of carpet to pull the moisture away from the bearings. Remember you'll have to tilt the arm down to get the brushes to spin and open up that mechanism. If you were to open it, you could hit the bearings with something that provides a moisture barrier. Something like wd40
