I love Tessa tape. I discovered it by accident when I was in my late teens. Went to the hardware store for vinyl electrical tape and bought friction tape by mistake. I am 32 now and I use it for all my wiring projects whether it be my motorcycle or my Miata.

What you do and have been doing for years with this blazer and now the suburban is nothing short of insane. Your abilities and attention to detail is amazing. I've been following you for years now and you have inspired me to take chances on my own truck. At least what my budget allows. Your attitude, your mindset all of it wrapped up into one. Keep doing what your doing. Your channel is one of the best on RU-vid hands down! Your k30 blazer is a masterpiece!!!

Ford called it Elliot tape but I have no idea why. Exact same reason. They didn't want as much sticky residue after the tape had been sitting on the wires for a period of heat cycles. And the Electrical tape would come off in pieces when It dried up. Leaving the wires nice and sticky

Looks fab. Yes, McMaster-Carr is awesome. Got pointed to it by Adam Savage and it the site has superb details for all it's parts and products. I need to know the typical countersink angle on some fasteners and so I could understand the necessary plate thinkness for the head to be flush and the MM-C was the best place for this sort of info. Sensible to keep everything away from the inner wings as you say and Tessa tape is great. Split trunking is also very handy where wiring has to be put through sharp edges and the like. Thanks for the vid!

I have been calling it friction tape. I love it. You can wrap it on and then hit it with a heat gun and sort of knead it in if you have to. Also, you could cover it with electrical tape but I don't. Electrical tape is a gooey mess. don't get solvents or fuel on it! If I still need some wore management, I may put some of that spiral plastic stuff over it. Electrical tape has its place but the friction tape is awesome!

Have you thought about using some weather-pack connectors instead of the male and female spade connectors for your electrical connections? If you haven't seen them you should definitely check them out. They have rubber seals so that are probably about as water tight as you can get. Keep the videos coming! I've got an 87 Suburban I've been considering doing an LS swap in.

@@MerricksGarage I love them. I used to use them when I worked on MODOT dump trucks. Can you recommend a good replacement torque converter for my Suburban? It's an 87 with a 5.7L and a 700r4 and it's on 35s. I want something that'll last but not too expensive cause I just wanna get it back on the road till I can gather everything for an engine and transmission swap.
