Should you buy the iPad Air 5 or the iPad Air 4? Why are some buyers better off still buying the iPad Air 4? I recently bought my iPad Air 4 and got very disappointed that they released the iPad Air 5 just a month later, but after watching this video, I’m now convinced that the iPad Air 4 is still a very powerful and an elegant tablet worth buying.

I bought the iPad Air 4 (256 GB) back in Nov I see a lot of tech influencers saying that if you get the 256GB you might as well get the 128GB Pro but I don't think I'm willing to give up extra storage for a few features that I probably wouldn't even notice! I definitely prefer the touch ID over face ID because it's a pretty big iPad to try and hold and align with your face. I also prefer the touch ID because it ALWAYS works, face ID you have to be in the right lighting, and face centered!

Well the iPad Pro is bought more with the 1TB model, since that gets 16GBs of ram instead. But either way you still get more good features on the Pro if you want that model anyway.

I really appreciate the detail and genuine opinion in this review, I want one of the newer and more sleek designed iPads as well as try to save some money. I know I want the air and I couldn’t decide between the 4 and the 5 but personally considering I’m upgrading from an older design I don’t think it’ll mean too much difference to go for the 4 instead of the 5. I plan to save a bit of money and get the air 4 and this review helped me a lot in deciding.

I prefer the touch sensor over the facial recognition. :) much faster and intuitive for me. I can’t stand facial recognition especially when I was wearing a mask and had to manually type in the password. If I had a finger print reader option that would have been awesome

I am running a photography club at an elementary school and have started looking at Apple iPads to do some basic photo editing with Lightroom. The kids are using DSLRs with resolutions from 18 MP to 24 MP. I like using the USB-C port for tranferring picture files. My question is: have you used the iPad Air 4 and Air5 for photo editing and if so, did you notice a big difference in performance?

Here in the UK the Air 5 is £669/849 for the two different storage options however an Apple refurbished Air 4 with 256Gb is £570 Apple has made some strange pricing decisions outside of North America

I’m so excited to get mine an iPad Air 4.. my plan to buy is the ipad 10th gen because of their gorgeous color option but one of it downside is the screen was not laminated.. so I will go for air model ipad!

Even if you’ve got the Air 4, you’ll probably still be fine with that model. Sure, the upgraded ram and processor, along with other features are good, but I’m general every iPad iteration is good for the long run. Especially if you have a newer model with split cores. Cuz I’m sure there are still some people with the old Air 3 or pro 2nd line, and etc still enjoying their system. But if you have the option to upgrade, go with this iPad Air, and the 256GB version.

Just got the Air 4 for $399! I don’t need the newest gen for what I do which is mostly watch content. Sure the mini is cute, but I’m a Stay at home mom and don’t leave much. My kids would undoubtedly take over it.

I’m with u Sagi the only iPad at this point that should start with 64 gb is the base model IPad the rest should all start with 128 gb they finally started doing this with the latest iPhone hopefully they make the next air start at 128 gb also.

Once you see ProMotion, you can’t go back. The Air 5 is a perfect iPad for anyone that hasn’t seen and appreciated ProMotion. I have an 11” and 12.9” Pro. I also have a Mini 6, so it does kind of ruin the experience when you go back to 60 Hz. However, the nice compact size of the Mini 6 does make it nicer to carry around.

@@janelle9652 I went with the Air and have no regrets. Of course it's hard to tell whether I would have been equally satisfied with the 9. But I can say that I have the Air on me every day and I wonder if any additional inconvenience caused by the 1st-gen pencil would have had an impact on that. I'll also say that the double-tap function of the 2nd gen pencil is more useful than I had given it credit for, even if I use it accidentally a lot.

I have the regular iPad (cheapest) plus the Apple Pencil with 32gb and it’s perfect for me as a college student! I offload all my semester PowerPoints and lectures to an external drive at the end of the semester, but storage has never been an issue for me. If you want to go all out, definitely get the air as you will appreciate the gaming experience or editing videos and such. I like my iPad for notes, reading/annotating, and occasional Netflix/RU-vid watching. If you have the funds and want to use your iPad as a laptop as well, get the air models or above. If you just need a second screen, then the regular ipad can be fine. :)❤️hope this helps !

Having an iPhone 12 and iPad 7 I gotta go with Touch ID I sometimes wonder why I even set up Face ID at all. The entire time I’ve had my phone we’ve been masking so anytime I’m outside the house, most of the time for me, I can unlock my iPad fine but have to type in my full passcode for my phone then of course all the times I need to use my passcode to reactivate Face ID or when it just straight up doesn’t work, I’ve had far less frustration with Touch ID.

Was eagerly waiting for this video 🙂 Waiting for a video on Air 5 vs Pro 11 inch. FaceId over Touch ID. I went for Pro 11 inch , i thought i will be good for next 5 yrs atleast. One of the reason being the 120Hz display. Although I haven't experienced it yet but I have 90Hz Mobile OnePlus 8 and i am able to tell difference between 60Hz and 90Hz while reading content on phone. Imagine that on a bigger display. Plus i am sure every phone in next 2 yrs would be 120Hz display and i won't regret spending some extra bucks then.😎 P.S. Apple has trapped me 😅 . Started with 9th generation and ended buying Pro.

it will hold up for the next 7-8 years at least, just dont update its software too much after 4-5 years, keep it on the same firmware and i can guarantee the battery life wont stagnate

@@atsilafarass as long as you usually dont play 30GB games, 64GB will be enough. however, if you are planning to use your tablet for a long time (5 years, normally) the 256gb might be worth it.

I don’t have an iPad and I’m looking into digital notetaking , carrying around so many notebooks was becoming horrendous for me, I’m leaning towards the iPad Air 5, just because I’m going to PA school and I’m a Public Health major so I need it to last a least 5 years. What’s drawing me more towards the iPad Air is the Touch ID , I feel like the Face ID is more beneficial on iPhones instead of iPad, because the phone is always in your hand and more mobile. Can you do a video on good notetaking apps or goodnotes vs notability ? :)

if you're going to be using an ipad for school and note taking i would recommend the ipad mini unless you got the extra money and you really want a bigger display then i would recommend the air 5

it would actually probably be the iPad 9th generation, but if you need more power, the iPad Pro 11" comes second. it is VERY expensive though.

I’ve seen a lot of concerns about air 5 build quality. People are saying that it creaks and flexes easier than other iPads and you can see where your fingers are putting pressure in the back though the display. Do you have any experiences with that in your use?

If I pick up my air 5 with one hand, the back flexes and taps against an internal component. I couldn't imagine it's tapping against anything sensitive. But still, it's a disappointment

@@colorghost Same here. The build is supposed to be identical to the air 4, so this has been a major disappointment for me as an air 4 user. The A4 will go down as the equivalent Air series as the 2018 pro… I wouldn’t recommend the air 5 unless you REALLY want the M1. For me, there’s definitely a difference and improvement, but I have a really niche use case - I have to move large pdf files back and forth between student devices and my own. Speed is important for my workflow there. But the air 4 is easily a real player here. I went with the air 5 because I could trade in a few old devices and that cut a lot off the price. I was able to get mine swapped out for a unit that doesn’t flex. I’ve never had that issue in all my years of iPad use, and when I showed the apple store manager, she got a funny look on her face and muttered “woooh.” So it was definitely not only in my head. I’d start a return and get yourself a new unit, since this is totally a build quality issue. The replacement is just fine, so keep going until you get a suitable build.

i notice that on other youtubers that explain all of that issues that ipad use the thiner aluminum chasis on the ipad that is downgrade in built quality some user have complain about that but i hope its not what they are thinking

In my opinion, the storage options should be 128gb, 256gb, and 512gb. NOT 128GB AND 512GB, because then, judging by apples current storage pricing, it would be an 300 dollar price jump just for going over 128gb. Some consumers will want to store large games, many photos and files, messages, photos, many apps, and the like, and all of it may take up over 128gb but not 200gb, so why pay 300 dollars. 128gb is a perfect amount of storage for an average user, 256gb is a perfect amount of storage for a general power user, and 512gb if perfect for an over the top power user.

It is so ridiculous that in my country the 256gb Air 5 is 2x more expensive than the 256gb Air 4! I really wanted the 5, but I cannot justify such price difference, so I ordered the 4. I've checked every store here and that's the absolute minimum price difference.

You can get an air 4 with 256gb for the same price as the new 10th gen with 256gb !! I've own an ipad with 64gb storage and istg it's never enough even I'm a light user. So for me pls go for air 4 as it has laminated display,second gen apple pencil(which is super intuitive) rather than getting the 10th gen. This is only my opinion though. Cheers

I have read in reviews that the back of Air 5 is very thin and prone to overheating and you can feel the battery from outside. I am currently in process of buying an iPad, so I would love to hear about this. I know you always say- "Buy it nice or buy it twice". So, I would want to know whether to go for budget option of Air 5 or 11 Pro. Also, thank you for your videos. Especially the tis and tricks. Continue the good work. Also, personally I prefer the Fingerprint recognition as Face ID doesn't recognize me without spectacles. 😅

I just bought an Air 2 refurbished online for $145. Very happy with my decision! I also bought a refurbished Pro 9.7 for $169 and again, very happy! Yes, they are quite older than these new iPads, but for under $400, including taxes, I have 2 great Apple tablets! They look new, work great and both get iPad OS 15.4 😎👍❤️🍏 I’ll stick with the Classic Models thank you 😂

I have the iPad Air 4 and have no complaints .. other than I wish they would put the front facing camera in the landscape position like the iPad Pro .. personally I use a case with my iPad Air so color doesn’t make a difference to me .. Touch ID is more than easy to use and actually do not care for Face ID .. thank you for the comparison 👍🏽

i am considering a next-gen ipad air to replace my aging 16gb air 2 from 2014, are the only real differences are the usbc download/upload speed and a14/m1 chip? is it worth an extra £70 to get an air 5 over an air 4?

Yep, only: -A14/M1 -7M/12M Ultrawide camera -4G/5G -5gb usb c/ 10gb usb c Personally, even though the A14 is quite fast for majority of users, M1 is miles away from A14, which is a better choice for someone like me who likes to keep his devices a long as they are supported. I can see the Air 5 definitely getting 3-5 more years of updates than the Air 4 with more potential to accommodate for any power dependent apps update. It is up to you to save 70€ or ignore these things if you don’t ever care.

Being able to use stage manager and connect it to an external monitor on full screen is a game changer. M1 is the key to future proof your ipad. This video is a great buyer remorse so you don't really feel that but but the truth is, there is a huge difference between these 2 tablets..
