I've been listening to various genre of music- pop, rock, country, contemporary, doo-wop, light jazz. I must say this group has the tightest harmony I have ever heard. If you agree give me a thumbs up. If not, listen to this song again or some of the other sounds by Foxes and Fossils.
Too Much Heaven by the Bee Gees. Some excellent harmony. Several Crosby, Still Nash some crazy good harmony. But this group is right up there for sure. I can listen to music that I totally dislike when Foxes and Fossils cover it.
@@thomasfisher5742 The harmony is great. It is hard to isolate and individual to love more than any other. Chase has some amazing Christmas songs out....just sayin.....CHASE
Darwin has become one of my favorite singers of F&F’s. Hid out behind that guitar for several vids and lately the cream has risen to the top in MBJ. There’s just so much talent in this group it’s crazy.
@Allan Charles I saw that video. Yep, Lorrie Morgan switched the lyrics around to fit a female singer. Not that it makes any difference to me. I personally like Maggie Adams version better. Not casting shade on a great singer like Lorrie. I just prefer Maggie's voice. I must have played F&F cover of Maggie singing Tom Petty's "American Girl" close to a hundred times so far. There are plenty of examples of female singers doing songs written for a male. Alyona Yarushina can knock out some great Led Zep, ACDC, Foreigner, etc. So can Samantha Fish. She can play the heck out of a guitar, sing and lead a three piece blues/rock band.
1964, Shut Down Volume 2 on the stereo listening to this amazing song over and over. Now, at 70 years old, I'm listening to this version with tears running down my cheeks. We can never get those days back but we can always hope that "everything will work out all right". A huge thanks to Brian Wilson and to the Foxes and Fossils for such a wonderful rendition of a great song.
76 yo here. Lived through it all. Love BW and the BB's. The greatest rythym and rock group EVER. Excellent rendition. R.I.P. Brian's wife Melinda today! Cheers Zac
OK, I am an old guy born in 1950 but that put me in the sixties at just the right age and man the music of that time still lives deep inside me. This song was one of my absolute favorites back then and even now. I had a 57 Chevy Bel Air in 67, loved that car and a certain young lady even more so this song sort of fit. Well the car is gone, she is gone but this song and me are still here. Thank You F&F.
My brother talked my Dad into buying a 428 Ford station wagon that got a whopping 8 mi/gal and a paper route so he could drag race in DC on Sunday mornings - a world we will never see again!
michaellauer3397-You should listen to the 70’s version of that song 🎵- it’s even better. But this girl forgot to change the’she’ to ‘He’ in the song.Good voice though.
Maggies voice is just superb, the harmonies are great, and the bass vocal counterpoint is very good. The instrumental portion can't be beat. Don't forget how good the production is. I feel the Beach Boys, and Al Jardine Family and Friends, should be proud (and jealous) of such a good cover.
For three minutes and 29 seconds I was 17 again. No war, no virus, no unrest, no draft. You made an old woman smile and get teary eyed for what once was...and can never be again.
Blown away.... vocal tones, harmonies, guitar, piano, drums and timing, all flawless, so beautiful... Timeless music that bridges the generation gap. Kudos !! From, " The Two Young Relics "
I am completely blown away by their rendition of this song. I refuse to say 'cover'. For the 1st time in my 67 years I am speechless. F & F are outstanding to say the least. Continued success to you. Your talent is amazing. I am in awe. Other musicians should be also. WOW!
Brian Wilson has to be saying, “Thanks F & F for keeping the music alive.” Stellar back-up harmony ladies and gentlemen. Beautiful lead Maggie, as always.👍❤️🎼
Still trying to figure you guys out. Perfect harmonies, perfect musicianship, incredible audio engineering and final mix, it would seem that what you're doing is impossible yet there it is. I often love your covers better than the originals.
Maggie's voice is a melodious treasure ... I have not heard a more perfect female voice since Mama Cass Elliot or Karen Carpenter ... just love her voice on any of the F&F covers.
Enunciated phrases is exactly why I think these folks are so great. The great crooners were such because they focused on clean, clear, words n phrases. Crosby, Sinatra, Martin,.....
Been in and out of rock radio since 1966. Now at 73 years old I am retired and listening to great oldies...(Not covers). But damn, I keep finding my way back to F & F's. You guys are outstanding.
@Just J "Back in the day" the Beach Boys didn't want the Dutch group the Buffoons as their support act during their European tour because they were afraid the Buffoons would outperform them. So much for irreplaceable.
Another masterpiece from Foxes & Fossils - the best cover band EVER. I've heard it about 20 times now in the last 24 hours. Each time through I hear more details I missed earlier. This band always manages to pull off the impossible feat - true to the original, but not so slavishly following that it's a mere copy. There are always individual aspects to the song that are not apparent on the first playing. Not only do they get the overall feel of the song right, and true to the original, but with their own stamp on the song, but when you dig down into their arrangements, you hear every tiny detail is carefully set out to do the same - be true to the original yet still with some of their own personality in there.
Only heard this son from F and F...excellent coer. I will listen to their other covers they have out there. Maybe you know the Fendertones?...They are so spot on cover of the Beach Boys that the remaining guys sans Brian have visited them in Pa. and sang along with them on a few songs.. I have a feelingif you know F and F you know the Federtones however.
Foxes and Fossils have done an outstanding job of capturing the very essence of Brian Wilson's brilliant chords and beautiful harmonies...keep on chugging fossils...right there with ya. Cheers.
I agree with the commenters saying this was better than the original Beach Boys; and that's saying something. Maggie.. your voice reveals something truly beautiful. So good.
Back again - as I keep revisiting this recording - I am SO pleased that RU-vid led me to the Foxes and Fossils videos - I have probably listened to this one over 200 times now, and I always find something to amaze me.
I love most of The Beach Boys music and DWB is my favorite. You guys covered it as well as anyone could and the band was also great. Very nice job. Tom Kaye, DE.
One thing about a F&F song: the sound quality is impeccable. Outside at a gig or in the studio, the sound is flawless. Then add the outstanding work of everyone together-wow!
So true. His engineering is as good as it gets. I would venture to say it's on a part level with historic engineers like Tom Dowd or Roy Halee. When the sound quality gets this good, the engineer becomes part of the band but, in this case, he IS a member of the band. LOL
The term "cover band" is sometimes sneered at by folks, which until recently included me, until I stumbled onto F & F. I've heard the studio version of all these songs and love them, grew up with many of them. But to see and hear these superb performers doing it live, in the moment, sometimes on a deck outside a bar with traffic passing by is to me the purest awesomeness of performing talent. They might not have written these songs but they OWN them. Bravo Foxes and Fossils.
They sure do Chris and the men have great voices as well as great guitar playing. Beauty, and the beasts for sure with great music and all great looking. They play so well and the singing is outstanding. That beautiful one with the pony tail reminds me of the greatest girl I ever met living up north when younger. Wish I could go back in time and meet her. She has an incredible voice also. Ry C. Florida
@@Air_Devil_Leader_One Are you aware that when they first got onstage for their first gig, Tim introduced the band as the Beauties and the Beasties? Scott (on bass) called out from his side of the stage that he liked his name suggestion better. Tim repeated to the audience, "oh right, Foxes and Fossils". The girls looked at each other and giggled and agreed that that name worked, as a ripple of laughter rolled through the audience. A couple seconds later, Tim said "We have some ambitious songs for you, none more than this one. We're going to start right now. Ready?" And they launched into "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". The whole conversation lasted maybe 30 seconds, and three and a half million people have seen the last five seconds of it.
What's really amazing is Chase could have had the lead and the backing harmonies would still be perfect with Maggie backing. Same with Sammie. They all just mix that way. That's why Maggie is my favorite, and Sammie is my favorite, and Chase is my favorite. But they all wouldn't do as well without the fabulous men of the Fossils.
There's something about Maggie's voice that really grabs your heart. She is the ultimate girl next door vocalist. People don't like to use the world purity much, anymore, but her voice is pure.
January ‘22. Just did another listen. This one will have legs for years. To me, when great song selection meets great musicians, it’s pure magic. You nailed it on this one. Great job F&F! Keep those oldies coming… for me. :-)
I have listen to this at least 10 times. Discovering new nuances each time. The vocals and accompaniment are sublime. Maggie, your voice just gets sweeter and more magical with every new song. Thanks for my morning smiles
I am a die-hard BB fan...this has brought tears to my eyes....as long as there are people keep making tribute versions of great songs and of this perfection, the likes of Brian Wilson's songs as well as the Beach Boys will live on forever. Well done. You have made an old man VERY happy and so thankful that you have done this.
Wow. This is one hell of a cover of this absolute classic. So pleased to have stumbled across Foxes and Fossils! These guys just let the music weave it’s magic with their beautiful singing and musical skills. Great harmonies too. Brian Wilson would approve I think!
A guitarist singer friend of mine, who spent a year or two touring with the Beach Boys & Brian said this: Wow! That’s a big surprise - so good! They did an amazing job on those harmonies, all great players too. Probably the best, most faithful cover I’ve heard of this song, not an easy tune. Awesome! Daniel Aranda.
@@lavmi79 I sent the song to Matthew Jordan who tours with Mike Love and Bruce Johnston's Beach Boys. He loved it. He sings it on tour.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uw5zZMqrELM.html
Wow, I am sitting here stunned. I am very happy you you covered this song and didn't copy it. My dad was my best friend, he passed away 5 years ago after a long battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was a veteran, a father to the fatherless, a believer, my best friend, and a Beach Boys fanatic! Your song just dragged out so many happy memories of him that were tucked away, I cannot thank you enough.
Bob so sorry for your loss and your love for dad shows. Thanks for telling us about your father and your love for him!!!! I also want think you for your dad's service and God Bless!!!!
I like to note that Don't Worry Baby was the B side of I Get Around. It wasn't played on the radio. It emerged as a classic out of it's pure beauty and emotional power. God bless Brian Wilson. Good job Foxes and Fossils.
Good point. Likewise, I suspect, were the treasures Surfer Girl, Be True to Your School, In My Room, and even the stalwart 409. Splendid work, F&F, as ever.
I’m a life-long Beach Boys fan and I now like your F&F version of this song better than theirs. So well done! Maggie is truly marvelous! ALL of the Foxes singing contributions are incredible! The Fossils just make everything so musically excellent on their end! Looking forward to many more F&F versions of our favorite songs! Thank you all very much!
The group harmonies were spot-on. It’s been decades since this song blew listeners away. Now, having risen from the past, these musicians have re-created it note for note. It was just as though i was hearing it for the first time. It was THAT GOOD!
Just one word: WOW! Maggie hits it right on the nose, and the instruments are good (drums are fantastic), but my delight is the background vocals!! Thanks so much for all your work.
When I was in grade school, my older brothers always had The Beach Boys or Jan and Dean on the record player. When I graduated high school in 1976,I bought the American Graffiti soundtrack and The Beach Boys "Endless Summer" on cassttte. As others have said, their sound is timeless, and you guys gave this 61 year old 'kid' goosebumps! A girl singing this tune gives this an updated vibe.Still cool!
Why the hell have I not commented on this - I have viewed it about 50 times, since it came into my inbox, and I really love Maggie's lead vocal - it adds a new dimension to a song which I've known since I was a teenager - which I guess makes me an honorary fossil as I'm now 68 - but as with most F&F covers, it wouldn't matter how it's arranged - Maggie/Chase/Tim on lead, it would work every but as well - utterly amazing
Whenever Maggie sings I automatically think of the lyrics " Come in she said I'll give you shelter from the storm " . She has such a beautiful warm , welcoming , voice 💕
Agreed...every word you spoke! Also captured me with their cover of Everly Bros... "Let It Be Me" Beautiful...as one other said above I could listen to their music all day
