My dear sweet husband passed away last month and this was our favorite song. He was my soul mate for 33 years, my rock and my once in a lifetime love. He was one of the kindest, generous and loving people anyone could ever meet. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly and my heart feels so empty without him. Love you always and forever my darling Herb.
We played this song at my dads gravesite service, he and my mom were married just 3 days short of 50 years when he passed. I remember them dancing in the living room so many times and him singing it to her. At the funeral mom just kept asking if they would play it again. so we did, we played it again, and again, as many times as she wanted. Will never forget their deep love, and how this song expressed it so well. I Love you daddy - But you went away, and I miss you. I will never get over you.
Dear Susan, This song means so much. What a loving tribute to both your and your mom. They sound like saints. Eight years is a long time. I wish the best for your mom if she's still here and for you. My precious Bonnie Sue passed three years ago this November after 50 yrs and 76 days. I still sing this to her several times a week with the guitar she bought for my 70th birthday, her last gift. God bless you and yours, Susan,...and every one reading this. Pick up the phone tonight and tell someone you care about how you feel. David Leckrone Appomattox, VA
This song is real. It contains everything that a loving heart needs. It has become part of my expression of love and I will never abandon the trail. It was from The Don of COUNTRY MUSIC. He is also my ANCHOR IN COUNTRY MUSIC OCEAN. What makes it sweet is that DON WILLIAMS WILL REMAIN MY BEST FRIEND.
I sang and played this on my guitar to my wife many times. We were married a month short of 59 years. I miss her so much since she passed 13 years ago. She was so much like the words to this song.
You're lucky... I've 1:45 never had anyone who loved me except my beautiful kids. Cherish the memories I've missed out on. I'm 58. I feel like I spent my whole life waiting. Only to get nothing.
I sang "You're My Best Friend" to her about a decade ago when we were young (still young though, lol) and just good friends. Today, I am playing this song while working from home, and she is lying in bed next to me. She is not just still my best friend; she's now the mother of our six-year-old daughter and is carrying our soon-to-arrive son. She is the woman of my life. I look forward to playing this song to her many more times in the years to come, and even as often as this post gets liked. 💕💕
To whoever comes across these words, my heartfelt wish is that whatever troubles you, whatever burdens your heart, may soon find solace. May clarity wash away the fog of uncertainty, and may serenity reign in your life.
My (75 yr old) dad had a massive stroke and my mom cared for him 8 years ! My siblings took my parents to Don Williams concert and when Don started to sing this song, my dad, paralyzed on one side and couldn't talk, grabbed my mom's knee and gave her a BIG smile. He loved her and loved this song- what a tear jerk memory-miss him so much!
I'd never heard this song until my hospice patient passed away 2 days ago, the day before his and his wife's 62nd anniversary. She told me to listen to it because it was "their song." God rest your soul, Mr. C, and God bless your wife and give her comfort and peace 🙏🏼 ❤
Simple Music can make you sing. a Simple hug can make you feel better, Simple things can make you happy, Crystal I hope my Simple Hello makes you smile..
This song was played at my grandad's funeral aswell. My grandad was my mantle, a father like figure I looked up to. This song as brought me back here, as today I am remembering his birthday.
Jess Mckeown well mam I lost my father and only brother, my mother too, only surviving person left I can understand your feelings on losing someone close to u
My grandma just passed, we were extremely close. When she was in hospice, my uncle put this album on. I fell so in love with this song and the lyrics spoke to how I feel about her. My uncle made the beautiful observation that the lyrics to this song could be interpreted in several ways; romantic love, love for Jesus, and love for family/friends ❤ this is now one of my favorite songs of all time.
I had this played at my husband funeral service. It was our favourite song. It's been almost sixteen months since he passed and I can't listen to this song without crying.
I heard this live by Don Williams in London in 1978. There has never been a performer who had such a huge audience in the palm of his hand. Don Williams is, without a doubt, the most humble artist I have ever seen onstage. Thanks for posting this.
This is my parents "song"! My dad gave my mom the record once. My dad is in his last days on this earth and we will play this at the funeral. Thank you for this song!
oh that is really nice , My parent also love the song very much , i must say this is my Mom best song, Will Jeannie i would like to have communication with you if you do not mind .
I love Don William, You may think or say this is not gospel music but I tell you it's prue love music. (God is Love.) its very inspirational music, I not get tried listening to this music over and over again.

@@SamuelDaiz-rb4rk I have used the same words "calmed my soul" a few years ago for a different song, so I know exactly what you mean. God bless you and I wish you good health too.
I love Mr. Williams....such a Man he is......he touches my heart and soul...with his words, tone, and musical background... btw, his best friend must be Jesus Christ....hear his words
You placed gold on my finger You brought love like I've never known You gave life to our children And to me a reason to go on [Chorus] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend [Verse 2] When I need hope and inspiration You're always strong when I'm tired and weak I could search this whole world over You'd still be everything that I need [Chorus] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend [Outro] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend
Thank you. My husband and I are coming up on our 30th anniversary. I want to record this for him. But I’m still looking for a line to replace “you gave life to our children.” I think I might just say “and oh your love, for our children” because it fits our situation perfectly.
My family used to play music on the front porch on the weekends and mom and dad worked this song into a beautiful duet. I can still hear them singing together when I close my eyes. Mama and Daddy, rest in peace!
You're right. I love his songs that I kept playing over and over again, Don sang wisely and beautiful songs I'm sorry for your lost I believe he's resting in paradise now. How are you doing Wendy?
You just can’t beat the old ones.... music has changed so much in my lifetime it’s not the same but at least I can pick and choose what I want thanks to social media AWSOME 👌👌
What a voice!!! Love this song. Brings back memories of the 70's. This was a very popular number on the Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation... We were in India
Hello 👋 Sunil. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
This song helps me through the death of my best friend. We were married 55 years and I feel like Ron is singing this to me. Thank You Don Williams for "Our Song."
My first best friend and I where married thirty three years,All my Army career, Now I have a new best friend, Denise. Never thought I would be Lucky again. To have another.
Mine died almost 4 years ago. This was our song. He sang it every morning to me. Life wont ever be the same but you can love again. I belong to several widow's groups on facebook. Every day there are people there who talk about how you can love again, if you so chose. I do not chose but that does not mean I can not be happy again because I can and so can you. In the mean time be sure to grieve in the ways that are right for you and as long as is right for you. We are all different but we can all be happy again. I will love my husband forever. We were married 43 years when he died.
This song was played at my dads funeral, my dad loved my mum so very much, the words of this song fit how he felt about her so well. I miss him, oh how I miss him, we all do. Thanks Don, for making me cry again.
HI sarah .I felt sad when i read your comment . you may not birth children of your own ,there's lots of warm little hearts look to you a mother ,will love and cherish you , you'll be to them a best friend .each of the little ones will say to you 'mom you're my best friend' .LOVE YOU SARAH.
I was a Cray fisherman in Tasmania when this album was released ,it was on a tape and we played it every day while we worked ,for almost two years until it wore out ,luckily I was able to obtain it on CD which I still have to enjoy in my retirement ,along with at least 15 other albums ,what a great performer
My wife and I danced to this song at our wedding. I told her to plan everything the way she wanted and I would take care of our 1st dance song. I chose this song because it paints the perfect picture of what marriage truly is and I'm a big fan of the gentle giant. I Love You Meredith 12/05/2020
Went to see Don live when he came to Mansfield in Nottingham in the 1990s,it such an unforgettable experience that man was a true gentleman a voice so easy it touches your very soul.
I thought of this song when I heard of Don Williams passing. This has been my favorite song that he brought to the world. Hard to believe it came out in 1975. It has truly passed the test of time.

This song, along with Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet, got me through some seriously dark times in my life. The anxiety and pressures I was going through and just listening to them songs dragged me by the scruff of my neck through it all - they just helped keep me reminding that the end of the day was always in sight and I will make it through the next one. To Anyone else struggling with the stresses of the world, tomorrow is untouched - who knows what wonders it'll bring, keep fighting the good fight.
