I live in San Francisco, so I have to hide my socially conservative views. Everyone around me are coastal elite Democrats, including my husband and my best friend. My best friend immediately launched into “Too bad it wasn’t 2 inches to the left.” Disgusting. I cried as I watched the events unfold. I am exhausted from living in turbulent times. And the Silicon Valley elites surrounding me refuse to acknowledge that they are the reason that regular working class people are desperate and looking for a savior to fix things.
It must be so hard for you being in such a position, I don’t know how you manage. you have my full respect for your courage to be true to your own convictions. I live in LA and am also surrounded by people who express the same sentiments as your friend, but being single, I don’t have to watch myself in the house.

Sad to say this is the first video from UnHerd that has really disappointed me. To make superficial observations & interpretations about a man who was just shot is just low.
There's some overanalyzing here. The people had waited for many, many hours to see and hear Trump....then this. Trump shook his fist to send a clear message that he had NOT been seriously hurt, that he was basically all right--so that those who were there would not worry that his life was in danger. His instinct was to send that signal to those who support him enough to have spent all that time waiting. Of course at this very early point he did not know that, tragically, one of those people had been killed.

I like Emily but I need to point out that Sarah Palin never spent eight years calling Gabby Giffords Hitler before the before the bullseye incident. That is the difference between the two situations.

The left can thank themselves for this situation. Trum was showing the crowd that he was ok. He calmed them down and was lucky the most iconic picture in ages was taken of him.
It also shows Trump's ability to react in the moment and think on his feet versus Biden's ability to react period and stand on his feet. Trump had the instincts to make sure that photo happened before he left the stage while we have to wonder if Biden would have even known how to get off the stage if he had been in that situation.
He wasn't a republican! What a stupid thing to say. He registered as a republican to get info on upcoming rallies and events. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to realize that.

He didn’t know if all threats were gone, didn’t know if there were more threats-he wouldn’t have known for sure his own status. Under attack, he chose to rise, to go standing (in his shoes) if it came to that. No one knew if it was really over.

I'm finding it very hard going these days listening to liberal talking heads who view everything through a prism of political spin, never possibly conceding that maybe, just maybe, Trump is a strong and courageous leader.
I do not agree with her analysis. Her judgment seemed to be clouded by her dislike of Trump. He did not know that someone had just died when he said fight^3.
We have only begun to see what is going on in the bowels of the social media but it seems clear already that for every 'bad-ass meme' of Uber-Trump there is a corresponding Tik Tok melt-down where 'how could he miss!' being the meme. Some of them are pretty disturbing - oh, there is somebody else the Secret Service needs to interview. So, that's where we are at as a nation divided, one that desperately needs to conduct review of conscience, but most people don't even know what that is.
Trump is 78, not a spring chicken, and he was able to get on the ground and get up nimbly enough in a very traumatic moment , well, more than a moment. Very remarkable. Incredible IMO.

As a Christian there are so many Christians praying for him. Because we see the spiritual element of this fight. GOD ALONE saved that man. Rest in peace to the people that passed away condolences to their families. Speedy recovery to those who are injured. You need to replace Emily. If you are going to play the "everything is the same on both sides game," you need to cite instances of what you mean on each side and compare the truth of what they say. The claim that they are equal IS the view on the Left, and the claim that if you consider what they actually say, the Left turns out to be lying. Emily may not know it, but truth is what counts. I think you’re missing a very fundamentally grassroots American value of “overcoming”. That was the attitude of the founders and it is what has made America standout as a competitor on the world stage in whatever competitive matters. It was quintessentially Americana for him to pump his fist and call the crowd to keep fighting. It’s the intellectual snobs, who have honestly forgotten the “every man” who categorize it negatively. Just as in Europe. The elites have separated themselves so greatly, they’ve forgotten where they came from. I love Emily’s coverage, it’s very objective. The short-term significance of that image is that, in that moment, the man and the myth met, at long last. He finally became what he and his followers want to believe he is. We'll see what the long-term effect is. Will it last? That's what we'll find out.
The left and the right have a key difference when it comes to speech. The left has been espousing that speech = violence for decades and the right hasn’t. So if speech you find extremely offensive is violence, it’s a small leap to this as the response for most extreme partisans.
The key difference between the left and the right is that the left considers disagreement speech to be hate speech and the right believes hate speech does not exist (well, hate speech does not exist when you are not criticizing Israel anyway)

I think Trumps actions speaks volumes. At that point he stood on his own at the podium and his reaction was instinctive to get lowdown. Don't forget his age either. So sad that their was loss of life, such a brave man, my condolences to his family.
I wonder if the guy in this video, being suddenly punched in the face, wouldn't instinctively not at the very least not sware and shout at the other person, rather than think, maybe I should just calmly reduce the tension by asking the person who punched him if he was having a good day and if he would care to come for dinner to talk things over. Trump may seem invincible to some, but my feeling is that Democrats are not going to let him win. I don’t know how they’ll accomplish it, but nothing is beneath them. I suspect they’ll find a way to have illegal immigrants vote.
