I lost my father due to advanced PCa only last May 2023. I saw him deteriorate and suffer in agony. I missed him.

My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer. Listening to Donovan's story gives me hope that my husband will recover. Early detection is key. God bless you.

Isn't it ironic that his PSA levels jumped up at the moment he seen his doctor

He went from an elevated PSA to surgery very fast. This video is useless for lack of detailed information.

Since there’s no details in terms of staging, Gleason, etc., clearly, this video is promotional. prostate cancer is a continuum from harmless to high risk.

Seems like a 12 core biopsy is always the final diagnostic not a PSA so I'm wondering if he omitted on accident? It was for mine. My 3T MP MRI showed nothing yet the biopsy came back 2 out of 12 cores positive G6 with HGPIN and ASAP other areas. Doc recommended Active Surveillance but I'm considering a Radical Proctectomy to get it removed because the issue is, there still could be higher grades lurking in the prostate that the random biopsy missed. This is my opinion only but AS feels a bit to risky long term for younger patients. Do I like the side effects of a RP. NO! But today it's the only real chance of curing for the long term.

I think you are correct in asking if biopsy can miss higher grade piece. The side effects suck from RP but they do improve with time. Once it's out of prostate, that's when a person life really changes. I had RP last year.

@@vichui9773 Thanks Vic. I'm scheduled for the end of this month. I get the feeling my first Urologist who did the initial biopsy is very much against it and thinks AS is the best option which I can somewhat understand however some of us are not comfortable with watch and wait.

My psa 3.9 Gleason 9 , I had surgery, now my cancer has come back 3 times, I’m living on hormone therapy, worse thing a man can have to do, if I had a Gleason 6 and know what I know now I would do Active surveillance , hormone therapy is awful

@@RH-xd3nx One year post and I feel very fortunate. My errections began returning at month six and countenance at month two. Today I'm am back to normal pre surgery in both. Third psa in September still undetectable. Perspective wise the only thing I lost is the ability to ejaculate which I do struggle a bit with but orgasims feel the same as before. Again I feel very fortunate to be where I am at today and say to other men who are still not achieving erections to give themselves extra time to heal as we all do at different rates.
