Behold... The fight scene between two monsters... I hated it. Goodbye. --- Music by Jorge Rivera-Herrans @JayHerrans --- For more of my works check here: TUMBLR: www.tumblr.com/anniflamma TIKTOK: / anniflamma
It's a small detail but I really like the little owl broach that Odysseus wears. He might have rejected Athena - but a part of him still respects her and bears her symbol
@@lukew6657to be fair I'm pretty sure they're one sided? As in the myth he never reciprocate the feeling, crying by the seashore hoping one day to able return home to meet his wife and son again.
I find it really funny how she’s trying to be all coy and mysterious and Odysseus is just like “even if Hermes hadn’t doxxed you I would still be suspicious, can we please just skip this cutscene and fight” Because honestly I think a random friendly lady would be SUPER suspicious after like 3 rounds of death monsters.
Everyone joking about Odysseus not getting Circe stripping-- but yall forget that he is literally Greek and is just leaving a war that ended only because of how gay Achilles was.
I just noticed the detail of Circe having Oceanid Nymph ears because her mom was an oceanid nymph too! The end with Circe taking off her dress took me off guard ngl. The movements and the desings are amazing as usual! Can't wait to see you do more of the Circe Saga!
I love it because she's the daughter of Helios so she has the sun on her belt. Also Circe fucking dropping her dress and Odysseus not getting it made me laugh so hard
I mean for one thing his wife who he is so in love with he would travel to the underworld for. But for second. "Bitch we were fighting two seconds ago what the f are you doing!"
On the humorous side, Circe's expression as Odysseus has his sword at her throat is very "well, this isn't how I saw that going". On the serious end, I rather like the one to two frame look of pure venom she shoots him at the end before transitioning to "Other Means". I'm not sure if she's reading "I'm not sure I follow" as basically making her *say* it out loud that she's giving her body to him and annoyed that he's rubbing it in, or if it's just a moment of getting her seduction face on to be appealing. Also, I know you said you hated it, but I actually really like the option of the Cyclops holding the Chimera down for Odysseus to slit its throat. That was a really creative way of keeping him involved in the fight rather than being a Pokemon trainer. On the flashback sequence, I notice that there's four nymphs present, but three in the present, but Circe has the same fins under her hair and black eyes in the mirror. Was the implication intended to be that Circe was the 4th nymph and basically let them take her then (like she offers to Odysseus now, and showing the same bracelet at her wrist) to protect the others, or that one was actually taken away by the previous case?
Aaaah!! Thank you 😭 So, about the nymphs, there was a 4th one that Circe couldn't protect. And that's why Circe have the same bracelet, it was the missing nymph's.
@erikvale3194 The musical is coming out in 3- to 5-song chunks called "Sagas". On Valentine's Day the Circe Saga came out, which included this song. Before then, we only had a clip of this song while it was in progress, which other people have made animations of. This is the first animation I saw of the final version of Done For but I'm sure other people might have gotten to it faster. Right now 4 of 9 sagas are out.
@@dragongeta0368I'm wondering that too. The only stories I know of Circe are Odysseus and Scylla. Also she never had the Chimera(?) Odysseus never fought the chimera (?????)
Oh my gosh that one part with the past-nymphs... the dark silhouettes... the wrist grabbing... *the fact that there used to be four of them*... How were those few seconds more impactful than the entire rest of the song
@TheHonestSage No, the artist said the intention was that Circe started wearing that nymph's bracelet after failing to protect her. Both interpretations are super cool though
I love how Circe looks at her nymphs like “go my lovely’s mother is gonna handle this” Also the personality shift is so awesome done at the end! Like how she goes from hostile to ‘flirtatious’ or rather ‘seductive’. She rlly pulled out all the stops This whole animatic is perfect istg
Odysseus: "I'm not sure I follow." Circe in her head (2.25 ): "Truly, this man might be the end of me, not because his sword is threatening my neck but because his lack of wit is threatening my sanity."
Her reaction when he says "You turned them into pigs!?" is priceless... like yeah.. go figure.. she just told you she revealed their true forms. So that little "huh.." is just perfect. Also fun fact: Circe was the one whos responsible for Scyla being turned into an man eating abomination
This is so amazing! I am absolutely delighted with the design of Circe and her nymphs. Everything is so dynamic that it took my breath away. I really liked that Circe made sure her daughters escaped the room. This is such a cute and lovely detail! And this transition to there are other ways is so cool.
I love every part of it, but as a HEMA nerd a part I liked is the fight: Circe's been practicing magic for years and she manages to conjure up a chimera, a non-existing animal she engineered herself. While Ody is not a practitioner of magic, but he's seen the cyclops with his own eyes so he's able to replicate it perfectly. I see this as a fight of theory vs practice. Also his experience as a warrior is clear, since he doesn't rely on the cyclops alone to win, but he makes it pin the chimera down so he can strike. Of course Circe didn't expect that and it shows. Also as others have said: Circe being part nymph and taller than Ody, him having Athena's bracelet, other nymphs doing stuff in the background... Astonishingly well done. Anni, you're very good at drawing but above all you are an excellent scene writer. I hope one day I can hire you for my projects (videogames with animated scenes)
wow, great observation. I like it. also, it shows the flaws of most magic users. relying only on spells and summons but not being strong enough to handle actual combat.
I'm sorry but the faces Circe makes on the last scene is amazing, you just see her coming to the conclusion she's going to have to do something she DESPISES doing. But then it's wiped away a moment later turning flirty. Just * *chefs kiss* * perfect character expressions you drew. It's my favorite like two seconds of the entire video. (Which is all good btw just that small scene stuck with me)
Omg, YES! She almost looked disgusted at herself for what she was about to do. Many people depict Circe as flirty from the get-to-go, and while she is a very sexual being, another trait of her that is hardly explored is her loneliness and bitterness.
I love the interpretations and liberties that you take in not only the art, but the storytelling. Having Circe get to the point so quickly at the end, makes Odysseus’ line so much funnier
You draw faces with so much expression. The pigs cracked me up. They looked -distressed-. Another home run, Anni! I so glad I came across your wonderful work.
Oh I absolutely love this, love the little nymph that runs to Circe, Circe in the little robe, I also love Circe's little transformation she does, it looks really cool, the fact there's not really a mouth at all and it's all like a dark void, of course Odysseus being a little shit with the flower, I also love that before the fight starts Circe glances back to the nymphs, oh and of course, the cyclops and chimera fight, bet that was a pain the ass to do, but I actually quite like it, then the "you lost", also love the short flashback of the nymphs, you can really feel the pain of that event and why Circe is so distrusting of anyone new coming to her island, now one thing I didn't except is to her to strip, also Odysseus just being "I'm not sure I follow" is so funny to me for some reason, great animatic, excited for whatever you have in store for the future!
Your powered up Circe design made me fucking gasp out loud:D this is so good. THIS IS SO GOOD!! I love the way you portrayed Circe as immediately sympathetic by showing the people she’s protecting and Odysseus as a threatening intruder. It fits incredibly well and I haven’t seen it in any animatics before. Typically Circe is lofty and detached, a dangerous sorceress at the nexus of her power, a threat to be overcome by the lone traveller coming in from below. This is fantastic. Time to rewatch it a hundred times, and in slow motion to notice all the epic (hah) details! (I have watched your Ruthlessness animatic a truly embarrassing amount of times btw. It’s what got me into this fandom in the first place, and I am eternally grateful.)
I love every way you handle Circe here, going from monstrous visage to that of the witch then finally to seductress definitely the way how i imagined this encounter based on the singers voice shifts and the SFX at moments. The added touch of the derobing and Odysseus not even looking down was nice too.
Ahhhhh I could rant about your designs so much !!! the ocean gills for Circe due to her oceanid mother heritage, her golden eyes due to the helios heritage, EPIC KAIJU BATTLE??? cyclops and chimera to represent the oddyseus and heck yes the chimera to represent the circe album cover??? Her CHANGE in the eyes is just amazing! that diifernce from threatening to pure seducting. GENIOUS GENIOUS. AH not even shying away from the nymphs past treatment I just am absolutely gasping I hope the best for you and your drawing hand it must have hurt to create such masterpieces.
I love how we first see Odysseus from the POV of the younger nymph in the beginning, emphasizing how intimidating he is to them. Even as he tries to be disarming, his expression is darkened by the shadows. And then in the end how Circe's expression and demeanor shifts from defensive to seductive as she changes tactics. Great work like always!
As always your work is so pretty! On a side not I love how much Circe is portrayed like a real mother figure to the nymphs, being dressed in more 'traditional' greek that matches more of what mothers of the era would have worn And with the way the 4th nymph's hand was gripped gave me a more disturbing vibe than simply her being killed, along with the fact that Circe now wears her bracelet❤ I honestly felt like at the end when she saw she had truly lost she offered her own body so that he wouldn't go after the nymphs, and so they wouldn't have to suffer! Keep up the Amazing work!
I know you told us you cringed with the Chimera VS Cyclops, but I gotta said it was really good, I love how they both appeared, how they where like silhouettes and how Circe and Odysseus control them with their moves. And I loved how cocky you make Ody look. Also that ending really got me off guard. Anyways just so cool, love this, please do more.
I know you said you didn’t like how the monster battle looked but it was awesome, especially how Odysseus didn’t just stand Idle which is what tipped the scales in his favor. And Circe’s shadow form resembling her nymph’s and making sure they escaped *chef’s kiss*
I LOOOOOVE your details on Circe. Her eyes are glowing because of her dad, Helios, Sun God, & her ears are webbed because of her mom, Perse, ocean nymph. That was such a cool detail. The fluidity of her transformation into her bigger persona was stunning. Great animatic.
especially when you consider that you can hear the roars in the song. most assume its symbolic, but it makes sense for two magic users to clash in such a way
Absolutely Amazing!!! I love Circe’s black eyes in the mirror, then her eyes when she turns to face Odysseus (and us) being gold and that little bit of color in this animatic (as well as the Chimera’s eyes also being yellow/gold), her transformation and the form she takes, the chimera and the battle, and all the other little details here and there. Just absolutely amazing!!
I love her expression change at the end where she's *pissed* at Odysseus but ready to flirt with him if that's what it takes to get the upper hand again
I like how when Circe is trying to seduce Odyssey, he just doesn't follow. And the way her expression changes from "lets get this over with" to "this is interesting" when Odysseus doesn't just JUMP right into lust like shes taking a chance with him this time. I love the small attention to details like that!❤
I love your design for Circe. The wand with the little sun charm is a nice touch, a neat nod to her father Helios. I also love how you made her expressions so fluid, the absolutely venomous look she gives before shifting into a sweeter and more seductive one was my absolute favorite part.
everything here is so fluid and dynamic! i rlly wiish more poeple would see this masterpiece man qmqmq like the movement is SO SO SO smooth and i love the way you drew everyone!!!!!
You said you hated the fight scene but I think it was rather quite nice tbh, it's really animated and the designs are cool. The cyclops-chimera fight was cool. I like how you gave circe glowing eyes and the sun-emblem, due to her parentage with the Sun God(well, titan but wahtever, he was still worshipped during the Iliad.).I don't think I've seen anyone give her a magic wand but I thought it was cool. Also her undressing a tthe end? ENEXPECTED, that's for sure. You sure don't pull punches. Never change AnniFlama, never change.
The way her eyes change from anger to all seduction like making herself vulnerable sends absolute chills down the spine. This was amazing! It took me about 50 or so listens to actually hear there was a battle cry from a Cyclops. I thought they just fought normal sword vs magic. But damn moly is stronger than I had imagined.
@@user-yh6kx6rr8z last time she let people into her island. in some stories, the men then assaulted and raped her, trying to kill her and steal her treasures, but she was powerful enough that they didn't kill her. other stories had the men rape and kill one or more of her nymphs, who she sees as her daughters,
@@user-yh6kx6rr8z I think so. I know in some tellings, she gave molly to a mortal she loved in order to turn him into a god (so she could be with him forever). The moly suceeded in making him a god, but also gave him certain charcteristcs many gods are notorious for having, and he lost his love for her.
The amount of detail in this is honestly insane. Also, I know this isn't the point, and they are full human adults, but the way you drew the pigs, they are so adorable
I really like the way Circe transitions her form into a siren like appearance! Kind of goes well with the Puppeteer before this one well, it shows how she was able to lure the men into her domain to go on and feast on them, (turning them into pigs basically) like how sirens lure sailors with their appearance or voices into the waters to feast. My name is also a variant of Circe, so my name is mispronounced as Circe :) I really like that.
Strong sense for animation and excellent execution! There are many beautiful EPIC animatics, but you absolutely excel at how characters interact in yours. The consistent tension, character's visceral reactions to new information or physical touch, how the god's mere presence/mood has a physical effect on the environment or the surrounding people. Those are things even +10 year professionals struggle with. I am absolutely loving your EPIC animatics!
Love seeing a portrayal of the nymphs in an animatic! It shows the reason for Circe's investment in their protection like a mother or a sister with their family members.
Okay, I have never listened to any Epic: The Musical song even though I am a big fan of mythology, but randomly hearing this after reading Circe?! I think it’s already one of my favorite musicals! (The visuals and music were amazing!)
The scene where Circe spins to transform into her god form is so well executed! It's definitely my favorite part of this video. I love that you're so good at having the gods transform in these animatics since the Hellenistic pantheon are known for their shape-shifting antics.
i love how Odysseus's creation is the cyclops, sorta showing how that's been up to this point the most terrifying foe he's been able to defeat, and the most terrifying short of a literal god
God, I absolutely love your design for Circe. She's beautiful and I love her expressions when she's in her full nymph form. I love how her eyes move and her hair does as well. You slayed this!
I'm not sure if this is actually what happened, but when she questions him where he got the flower, she calls it "Moly", and she probably also knows that Hermes is the only one that calls it "Holy Moly", so when he said he just got it from the ground, it confirmed her thought I dunno, this is just a random thing I noticed, though I can't say I know exactly all the context of these songs
I love all the little micro expressions you give Odysseus and Circe! All the moments where they’re angry or frustrated for a moment before they’re all smiles and confidence.
From seeing both this and the God Games with Aphrodite and Ares. Your ability to have fluidity is insane. EDIT: And Ruthlessness. That one really shows off the smooth fluidity you can somehow achieve.
Literally in love with your Circe- I find her so adorable yet tragic. Especially with her smug looks until they shift into fear and desperation- how its so obvious that she loathes this threat that seems to play with her with Ody's "Im not sure I follow" bit. Literally in love with every frame of her- if you do end up doing "There are other ways" then I cannot wait to see it!
I loved this, one of the nymphs where evening holding a pig in there arms- the poor pigs face as well lol Edit: I also love how his monster is literally the Cyclopes as well lol
I love when he said "im not sure i follow" she looked apon him seeing he isnt like normal people who would just jump at her he shows respect courage and is someone who wouldnt do that showing that he can be trusted is persuaded the right way
Goddammit do I "hate" the last three frames of this animation... A hateful look that becomes a warm smile in the literal blink of an eye. The length she's willing to go to protect her kind is incredibly rendered. Well done, animator. It's a masterpiece and I hate it. Well done.
*takes a very, VERY deep breath* OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! This is pheonominal!! Your design of the nymphs, circe, her form!?!?!? Because jesus freaking christ god forbid I LOVE this!!!! You are genuinely one of my favorite artists like.... EVER. I'm a huge fan of your work, keep shining!
All of your animatics are SO GOOD like the details on this... But I laughed for ten straight minutes at Odysseus saying "I'm not sure I follow" when Circe has already taken her dress off like bro 😂
SINCE I'VE FIRST LISTENED THE FULL SONG FOR THE FIRST TIME I'VE BEEN SCREAMING THAT CIRCE SHOULD UNDRESS AT THE "ACTS OF LUST" PART AND YOU DID IT!!!! Wonderful animatic, i am in love
Absolutely delighted to see this!! I love how you incorporate the sun pendent on Circe from her father being Helios! The shade of the cyclops from Odysseus is so cool!
THIS IS AMAZING!! The animation is stunning, I love your design of Circe, and I’ve never seen animatics focus on what Circe meant by “the last time we let strangers in” as well as the nymphs she’s protecting, which is so cool!!
Wonderful.😮 So many details, her super cool power transformation, her obvious care for the nymphs as she made sure they were safe and their expressions. My favorite part was when she recalls the heavy loss they suffered and the reason why she is so vigilant. It literally gave me goosebumps at the implications of what transpired.😰 It is so sad and tragic...🥺😭 But the end managed to suprise me when she took of her dress and Ody cracked me up with his 'I am not sure I follow'.🤣 Dude she is stripping in front of you while saying lust, what do you not understand!?🤣🤣🤣 I quite liked the fight between the chimera and cyclop. It was quick and frantic while they are shadow like giving emphatis to the ones who are really fighting Ody and Circe. I LOVED It! 🥳🥰🎆💕🎇💗
