I’ve said these two statements many times and will continue to say them if I have to: When you listen to Pink Floyd for the first time, your perception of music you grew up listening to will never be the same again. They’re truest expression of art in rock music. It’s like painting murals but with music instead of paint.
Kathy lulu and Donna. I was at this concert October 20th 1994 while in the navy. Best concert by far that I've attended. I have requested this song before. The great gig in the sky from pulse concert. Ladies this will blow your mind. It brought the house down. You will be amazed and left speechless. Keep em coming pretty lady's .
@@scottnorvell2955 I was at the 94 pulse concert at earls court London England. 75 thousand in attendance. This is the concert that everyone reacts to. Best day of my life.
encumbered forever by desire and ambition there's a hunger still unsatisfied. our weary eyes still stray to the horizon though down this road we've been so many times. epic.
This live version of High Hopes is one of my favs from Pink Floyd. Davids pedal steel guitar solo at the end is breath taking. That guy can pull every emotion know to mankind. Not many bands are foolish enough to do a cover of a Pink Floyd song, but, then there's Nightwish. If you wanna see Marko sing at his absolute best, watch Nightwish do their tribute to Pink Floyd from the End of an Era concert. It will leave your chin on your chest.
A gorgeous song and a sublime performance. Now you really MUST watch the Nightwish tribute that they did in the End of an Era concert. Marko is on vocals, and Emppu displays his skills on the guitar with his own interpretation of the solos. It's the same song, but definitely Nightwished. David Gilmour himself once called it his favourite Pink Floyd cover.
There are some reactions I totally agree with. Seen them several times in the 70s and 80s. Still remember the shows. Visuals were stunning, music was stunning. Just the complete package!
This 1994 Pulse concert was part of the Division Bell album tour, High Hopes is the 2nd single from that album. The entire concert is great, and worth watching. You may want to check out the live Nightwish tribute version of this song, from the 2005 Helsinki concert(End of an Era DVD), Marko sings lead.
Thanks for the reaction! This song and all of the songs on the Division Bell album has such a great meaning to me. Back in the late 90s I bought the Division Bell album on CD while on vacation in Florida. I will forever associate this album to me lying by the pool and sipping on a coke and doing my math assignments lol. Incredible how songs can hold such memories.
It was a real pleasure watching your reaction dear ladies! Happy that you were infected by the beautiful, magical, unique sensations that this band, like few others, can provide. Thank you with all my heart! Shine on!
This album, "The Division Bell" was a big step showing that they could still put out a great album with only David, Rick, and Nick. I love this album and this is a beautiful song. Enjoyed watching with you 3 ladies. I was amazed when I first heard it and when I saw it on the Pulse DVD I watched it 4 or 5 times in a row.
The “porthole thing”, is called “Mr. Screen” and they’ve used some variants of it for years and years. They always liked having visual experiences with the music and it just fit naturally. On the original “The Wall” tour they would use two projectors to put images on the white bricks that got built on the stage. It was to show the experience that caused the emotional damage to the fictional character “Pink” ( really based off of Roger Waters life experience, he was the original bass player and second singer ). Each experience made him “brick” himself in and build a “wall” around him to protect himself and keep the outside world out. When Roger Waters recently toured “the Wall” again a few years back technology had really improved. It let him do something he wanted to do originally. They project individual events on each brick, so it could really get the point across. It was magical!
you three give the best reactions by far now. pink floyd the best live band of all time. seen them 6 times including the pulse concert you should watch both run like hell with nearly a million dollars of lights and the great gig in the sky both will blow you away love you all
High Hopes is my my joint favourite Pinkfloyd song with Shine on you crazy diamond. The pulse live version is just as good as the studio version but with the visuals and the atmosphere of the live crowd makes it extra special
Another great reaction. A story of looking back on our youth, when the days were longer and brighter, tastes were sweeter and we were running before the endless river of time took our youthful dreams away.
The long bells that Lulu is thinking of are called Tubular Bells. Bells come in many forms and are used for many reasons. some for celebration, some to warn of attack and some for music. FYI, The American Liberty Bell was made by the same foundry that made "Big Ben", the main bell in Elizabeth Tower in London. The Melody played is called Westminster chimes and is used all over the world, though not many people know it's origin.
The hit on the bell is on an upbeat, if you try to tap you finger to it it is not on the 3rd, it is on the upbeat on the 3rd..I think, Very unique. One of the best tunes ever made, Now listen to Nightwish playing this song, even Pink F;oyd gave a nod to them for their cover of it
Roadies: "Are you sure we have to move and install this heavy bell and this huge gong for each of the 110 concerts on this tour?" David: "Yes my friends, because in the 68 cities on this tour, we are going to play "Hight Hopes" at every one of the 110 shows."
Another great reaction of my favorite band. I have a request for Echoes live in Gdansk. It's from David Gilmours solo tour but has all the same musicians except the drummer. The song is 24 minutes long and it was the last time it was ever performed. Richard Wright the keyboardist was fighter lung cancer and knew he was losing. Only David and Richard knew about this and knew this would be the last time as well. The last 5 minutes is mostly David and Richard interacting and it's incredible. I know you will love this performance and likely shed a tear or two. Thanks
The Division Bell is about Election Day, it is called Division Day in GB, they do or did ring bells to remind and signal the folks to go and vote. High Hopes may be your next candidates or ideas. As others have mentioned, Pink Floyd must be listened to from beginning to end because the whole album is a complete song.
Great choice, great song, so thanks Kathy, Lulu and Donna for this one!!! Pink Floyd is one of the bands I learned to know through one of my brothers. Such beautiful music and lyrics!
I've been a fan since Piper at the Gates of Dawn. I love this song, and very nice reactions as well. I like the little "hats off" they do with the fly buzzing at the beginning. This fly buzz was also a track they used on the Umma Gumma (ooma gooma) album of 1969. (When Roger Waters was still with the band, and doing almost all of the writing) It's called "Grantchester Meadows" and y'all will love it (studio version)!! I swear it's not like the normal Pink Floyd tune, and has a surprise ending with that old fly buzzing around having a good day! Peace y'all, keep 'em coming. 🤠
Two other versions of High Hopes worth a listen: From "Live at Pompeii 2016". David adds a much longer acoustic guitar solo to the end of the song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xPkTq-_C-3c.html From "Live at Robert Wyatt's Meltdown". David replaces the electric bass guitar with a stand up bass and adds a cello to compliment his guitar. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lgE-FNhHy54.html
you forgot the tribute version nightwish did of high hopes, argueably even better than the original ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jXTmh8fC_RQ.html
There they are the 3 beautiful queens Kathy Lu lu and Donna thank you for this upload always look forward to Ur uploads can't wait for Ur next upload have a lovely chilled relaxed night Lu lu Kathy Donna
I really enjoy watching you three young ladies become so mesmerized by the music Pink Floyd. However I am just wondering ... what did you think of the bell? :O)
Seen them 2 times live great they travel with something like 17 tractortrailers of equipment to put on that show so you could emagin what it takes to set up that stage
Pay attention to the lyrics on the next listen, it will put it all together regarding the bell, tempo and overall music composition, it all ties in together.
I worked on that tour Division bell in 1994 600 technicians to biuld the stage 55 trucks on the road I was 22 years old You should check the video when we crashed the plane on the stage right with explosives
The planet and humans will grieve in great sorrow when Mr. Gilmour leaves us. Go back and check his whole time with Floyd and then move on. Also check his 2 solo albums out (I believe 79' and 82). Great stuff.
Gilmour has 4 solo albums and his new one, when it comes out soon will make 5, I believe. He's also starting a world wide tour this fall...he's 78, and still sounds great!
One of my fav PF tracks. Thanks for watching it. "Echoes" live from Gdansk would perhaps be the only performance that might even top this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zrProK5R7ms.html
First heared this timeless classic as a cover of Nightwish as a more explosive guy and music. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4oEDnVeYYyM.html But Pink Floyd originals , allways great!
I always felt that this was one of their weaker tracks personally. If you want your mind blown, then have a watch/listen to 'SORROW' from the same concert. Other 'stand-out' songs from this concert that spring to mind are 'COMING BACK TO LIFE', 'KEEP TALKING' and particularly poignant songs like 'ON THE TURNING AWAY' with strong messages that are just as relevant today as they were when they were first written over 40 years ago now! Mind you, the majority of Pink Floyd songs have strong messages attached to them. You do realise don't you that Pink Floyd are aliens that have been sent down from another world to tell the human race how to treat each other?
Ladies last week I posted saying I had subscribed and unsubscribed because of the quality of some of the requests you get. You erased my post or either I thought I had posted. Surely Opinions are allowed. I didn't mean to offend. You do a great job so apologies. Great song from a great Floyd album.
No, we did not delete your post. I remember reading it and giving it a heart. I have no idea what happened to your post. We welcome people to make comments and voice their opinions.
I love PF but i hate this concert. Search for David Gilmour 2016 Pompeji. That is THE concert to watch, just a tip. Then he was 70 y/o and kinda said farewell.
