My heart goes for both ladies as their roads to get to the highest level has been difficult. Donna had surgery in 2021. And Jasmine has been climbing and climbing during 2020. To see both of them get to the semis and battling was beautiful and emotional.
Amazing courage to push herself through the pain . Her racquet speed had slowed in the third set and to almost win it carrying an injury - full of admiration.
Nevjerojatan meč, emitivno i fizički iscrpljujuće, obje su grizle.Dona naša 🌟 ostavila je i srce i dušu na terenu. Budi ponosna jer mi jesmo. Srce ko kuća ponos do neba. Idemo dalje još jače💪💪💪🥰🥰💓💓🇭🇷🇭🇷
@@alexcro4769It's not night here. Why are you so angry? I wonder why Italians are so much more beloved across the world? Maybe it's because they have a humane culture of love. They don't get angry and vindictive when their players lose. Note all the Italians in the comments expressing sympathy for Donna, but you want to GET the Italians. Maybe you shouldn't be so bellicose.
@@andrewb8235 I'm Italian and I am really sorry for Donna Vekic, and I know the feeling of being heartbroken, after all that happened with Sinner vs Medvedev. All this nonsense of national pride and revenge can stay out of sport, and leave it to right wing supporters.
❤Donna I understand how you feel and words cannot explain your loss . Be strong 💪 you are a Winner 🏆 and be very proud of your achievement at this year Wimbledon Championships 2024. Your Team are so correct Donna ❤
i'm a Paolini fan but this is so heartbreaking to watch..i cannot imagine how bad she's feeling right now, sport sometimes is so brutal but try to move on as fast as you can young lady and you'll have your trophy someday! Your journey at wimbledon was amazing anyway and you must be proud of yourself ! much love Donna ❤❤
I feel so bad for her. So sorry for her. Sport is so tough. Even though I also like Paolini. But I wanted Donna to win for some reason. They both were fighting till the end.
wow I will never forget her fighting spirit in this year's Wimby. it almost doesn't matter that she lost. I really feel, she has so much to be proud. but I get it, she is incredibly competitive and it is hard to let go after a loss.
Donna played unbelievable & I was plugging for you! I haven’t seen you play at this level in many years & you will have the opportunity again! Take a break & clear your head & get back on the courts again & start working again! They’re the Olympics don’t forget? Donna you’re a better player than years before hold on to that be proud of your Wimbledon Tournament it was fantastic 👍👏
Bravo to Donna for a tournament well played. When she finally held for 6-6 in the third set, I literally said out loud that she'd already won...not that the tie-break was hers to lose, but because I felt like she played so well under adverse conditions (tired, hurt), and because she did not play against herself, as has been the case in the past, but just against her opponent. She saved a couple of match points, and forced the deciding tie-breaker, at which time she played to a point where the result could have gone for either woman; she did not beat herself. That is the victory for Donna Vekic for today.
I've never really been a Vekic fan but she won the heart of another fan today! I was rooting for her and every point feels like I was in the match myself ! Keep going Girl, Great things ahead of you! Just a tough customer today but next time pls do not tell your box to shut up, feel then in and stay strong till the end , Many chances came and gone in the thirs set! No wonder is the longhest women tennis match in Wimbledon! My heart goes to vekic for the first time that I am even emotional !
The way she saved both of those match points was phenomenal - so brave! Both times she hit to the lines and actually saved them rather that hoping for Paolini to miss. She’s still only just turned 28 and as Paolini also shows, everyone progresses at different rates. Her physicality let her down in the end, hopefully she can use this as motivation to refine her physicality and bring for the rest of the year. I can see her winning this title eventually.
Just imagine how tough this was just to get to her first GS final and to think that Djokovic did this 24 times in a best of 5 is unworldly what these athletes have to put up with (mental strength, physical condition, diet, training, etc). Just amazing.
Donna, great wins only happen because there are great opponents. "The sun will come out tomorrow" and "It's only a day away". See you in the next Grand Slam.
She was so tough today.. and the Wimbledon crowd (and I say this as a Brit) are so fickle.. they obsessively support anyone jumping around and smiling like they’re the best human being on the planet and always go against fiery players like they’re awful people 😂 and it’s so pathetic. They’re just passionate and want it so badly - they’ve been working their entire life for it. She did so well considering the majority of the crowd were against her. She only lost due to physicality in the end, mentally she was there all the way and actually the braver of the two.. the way she saved both match points was almost more impressive in my eyes.. hopefully she can use this as motivation to refine her physicality so that she can win this title one day.
I would say the British fans mainly support the underdog, but I think the support was pretty balanced. Both of them gave their all out there. Jasmine was passionate & smiley because that's her character and Donna was also passionate but intense. We will never really know if she would have won if she was feeling physically okay. It's a shame there is only one winner. It was a joy to watch.
@@crazycatpetera1404 If the majority of the public supported her, there must be a reason, right? or is it now a fault to be smiling and number 7 in the world?
In the final tiebreak on the score of 8 all the last two points were two missed forehands by Donna. I can't say if these were unforced or forced errors, but She striked them with all the power, courage and grit that has distinguished her entire career. So now I really hope She can have another chance to get to the final and win this tournament, in my opinion it would be a real fairytale.
She had so many chances to have full control of this match. Jasmin saved so many break points throughout. Then it started to get close and they started playing equally. But she literally had to take 1 or 2 of these chances to break the game wide open
Compare the above comment from an Italian to the top comment from a Serb and Croat: "Novak will SHOW them [sic] tomorrow 😂" Very different cultures. Tutto il mondo ama gli Italiani. Non cambiare mai. Tough luck Donna. Love the upward trajectory you're on. ❤
Hi, today the mentality made the difference, Jasmine fights, but she also has fun, Vekic is too strict with herself, first the pleasure and emotion of playing... yes happy, you're playing in a semi-final equal, have fun!!!
Nothing to be sad about, you played s great match, soo many people are supporting you and cheering for you, you definitely will be one to watch at the U.S open. Next time the tears will be for winning your next championship.
Donna actually won more games .. what can you say .. sport can be crushingly cruel .. I personally don't think one was better than the other . A titanic tennis match that was
Donna won more games and more points. I think she deserved to win the match but Paolini is such a fighter to the end. A great effort but yes it’s definitely a cruel blow to be so close to your first GS final at 28. Hopefully she’ll have that opportunity again but this was a great chance with the top seeds gone.
Donna gave us one of the greatest womens' matches in Wimbledon history! My heart bleeds for her. She fought so hard. I am so inspired by her, and I hope she knows that she has given us all a great gift. I'm so sorry she had to suffer for it. Love you Donna!
I was so gutted Vekic lost! Paolini is fantastic and her emergence has been incredible but I always remember Vekic losing an epic contest to Johanna Konta (also at Wimbledon) back in 2017, I think. She lost it 10-8 in the final set- this was before the advent of match tie-breaks at 6-6. My abiding memory of that match was a devastated Vekic crying on the shoulder of a consoling Konta right at the end (they are good friends). It feels like history is repeating itself for poor Vekic. This interview was hard to watch. Vekic still has the Olympics and certainly the US Open this year. She can still win a major, for sure.
This was the best match I watched on the women's side (probably the men's side too). It was edge-of-your-seat tennis court drama. It was all guts. True competitive fighting spirit till the end from both Vekic and Paolini.
She should be happy with the success she had at this tournament. Watch the match, see what you could have done better and battle on. Being top 4 in the world does not suck.
Las dos fueron una guerreras y se merecían estar en una final; la diferencia fue tan ínfima que ese 2 de se los pudo llevar cualquiera de las dos, esta vez fue una, en otra serás tú. Esto te hará más fuerte para tu futuro. Adelante!
There can only be one winner to the final. Devastated Vekic as this was her chance of a lifetime. Get strong, regroup n come back for Olympics n US Open !
Why can't they give her a break? Forcing the players who lost to an interview immediately after is not fair. She played great and it was pure luck that Jasmine won this match.
Does Wimbledon *force* players to participate? I doubt it. Maybe she's contractually obligated by her sponsors. Players do sometimes skip press conferences. I don't think anyone forced her. Like you, I sympathize with Donna though. She's a great player and appears to be a lovely person.
I agree with you about the press conferences, but to say that it was pure luck that Jasmine won the match is, to say the least, very unfair. Even Donna, who was great and made great shots, as she was crying through her press conference, admitted that “she played amazing tennis.” Credit where credit is due.
But now you have to explain to us how you can say that today one of the two tennis players was much stronger than the other if the match lasted almost three hours and was almost always in the balance around a point made by one or the other.
Terrific tennis girls. Playing like a practice match. Free hitting. Lovely style, approach, no grunt wasted energy.. Tribute to the tour. Youll both win the big events. JP after French on Grass feeling the same Magick. It could be your time. Ex Pro.
So sad for her because she’s a good player and it’s hard making it this far and not moving forward. Congrats to the lower rank players who are playing lights out tennis. Higher player are not playing according to their ranks!
I mean she didn’t lose to a real player like Sabs, Iga, Penko, Rybakina, Ons, even Shneider, I would literally quit tennis if I was her, gifting that annoying scrub a ticket to the finals
@@user-gg9uu9kx9w Real player? Pasolini is seeded 7th! Vekic isn’t even seeded. How can you fall into a self obsessed trauma after earning £750,000 losing to a much higher ranked player?
She's right ,she had a lot of chances and she should have won the match, not taking anything away from Paolini. I'd like to see her win in the finally.
It was obvious to me that she was suffering alot of pain and not being nervous or something, but somehow , the professional commentators in the channel I watched- could not figure it out...
I do not know whether it was deliberate or accidental but there were several outs stated by line empires as good balls especially during the Jasmine's serves. In such close matchup it is decisive. Donna tried hers best but it was not enough.
