Ugh I feel so bad for her. Just imagine someone saying something like that to you in general, nevermind on national TV to millions, and then it being online forever for people to see. And the worst part is that she genuinely was a huge fan and was probably nervous before interviewing him. Poor Rosie ☹
I love it when donny corrects the lady and then second time round she’s like “hit it John”! Me: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I actually can’t stop laughing 😂
I love both of them but I have to say Donny was kinda a jerk to Rosie. She let it roll off her back, but that had to have crushed her feelings! I think he learned a lesson from this show. I have seen him treat everyone with respect and kindness since then!!! ❤️
@@user-wb9yn1bs8z She insulted him seconds before that. He felt the audience was laughing at him. It's subtle but obvious he lashed out because she hit a nerve with her "joke." Admit that Rosie has a big mouth and is extremely insensitive as a matter of course.
Rosie: It was the first week of the show, and I don't think he had seen it before. He's on the road doing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I believe that when he came out and saw my albums and my Donny Osmond doll, he thought I was going to ridicule him. I don't think if he were booked on the show now, after it's been on for forty-five days, that he would ever do what he did. Instead of seeing what I was doing as a reverential tribute - which it was, because I honestly do like Donny Osmond and his music, and I did have the doll - I think he thought I was going to be aggressively poking fun at him. So what happened was, I was saying, "Oh, Donny, you have to go and do this dangerous stunt out in Utah, and God, I'm worried about you. You know what, don't you go on that helicopter. I'll go and be your stuntperson. I'll be your double, and I'll do it for you." And he said, "I don't think the helicopter can handle that much weight." So I took a moment and I went "Whoooa!" For a moment I thought, Does he mean me and him together on the helicopter? Or does he mean me separately? That comment became the bane of his existence, because everywhere he went, people were saying, "How could you?" And I didn't let up on it. The next day, I did the show and I said, "Can you believe that Donny Osmond called me fat?" I went out to LA that weekend for a funeral, and there were a lot of people there who had seen the show. One of them was Roseanne, who said, "I can't believe he said that. I saw your face." I think anyone who has ever had weight be an issue in their life felt the pain of having lived through that. He did apologize profusely during the commercial, and afterwards. I don't believe it was necessarily malicious: it was just stupid of him. I think he thought that this would be his shot and that because I'm a comic, I could take it. He came back on the show because we were getting so many letters, literally thousands of them, saying, "I'm burning my albums." He was getting booed on stage, apparently, and I didn't want it for him either. I mean, one stupid comment shouldn't end your career. So we had him come back, and I thought he was a real sport to play along. In the end,it was okay. I don't think he was mean-spirited in the sense of somebody like a Howard Stern, whose agenda it is to be mean and hurtful. I don't think that's Donny Osmond's agenda. I think he was just a little nervous and defensive, and he didn't think.
Ooh the shade Donny threw Rosie. Omg u could tell Donny had a problem with her or maybe he was in a bad mood. He was throwing shade and coming for Rosie.....
@John Johnson Some people are sensitive to their weight issues. I think you would have responded differently if weight were ever a problem for you. Although, I think Donny tried to "smooth it over" with their duet at the end.
John Johnson what is wrong with you? It is never ok to try to hurt anyone. A real gentlemen would have never agreed to those lines e en if they were written for him. That was as mean and sad as your own hateful words.
@John Johnson You're wrong; even though you wrote this a year ago. Rosie mentioned this moment on her show over and over for the first few weeks (it was one of the first shows she'd ever done). She was known for being a blunt comedienne so when he saw she had his action figures and album covers or whatever, he thought she was going to make fun of him and called her fat, etc. He didn't know the whole show was about her being sweet and loving. She mentioned in every opening from the show that "Donny Osmond called me fat" and it became a huge deal with people wanting to cancel him. He finally came back on the show with his sister, dressed in a puppy dog outfit, to apologize. None of this was set up.
I’ve been a lifelong fan of The osmonds but his behavior was totally uncalled for considering the fact he’s he was getting paid to be on her show and she was such a fan for him to treat her as he did was pathetic
He was an ass from the beginning. He's prob an ass in general anyways, but he just didn't like rosie for some reason, even though she was a longtime fan...how do u dislike someone that idolizes u; not to mention, his star had faded long before this interview 🤔
I watched some other videos though and he does seem pretty cool. He said in a later video that he didn't realize she was such a fan, and thought she was kind of teasing him.
I love Donnie but the fat joke was uncalled for. I really think he just meant it as a joke, to get a laugh, but it backfired. It was not funny. I am not a fan of Rosie at all but that remark was awful. Sorry Donny, but I still love you.
It looks like he didn't even want to be on the show. I feel so bad for Rosie since she's a real fan of his since he first started. After watching this when it was on, it only made me dislike him even more
Now, I wonder what happened behind the scenes, he keeps calling her mean, betting she was saying something rude offstage just before, he seems ticked off right off the bat, but she still did not deserve to be told she was severely overweight.
He was feeling embarrassed about all the retro bubble gum pop stuff she had and projected his own insecurity… by fat shaming a mega fan on her own show…
