Before Francis Ngannou in MMA, and the superhuman uppercut he landed against Overeem, there was Razor Ruddock. I really wish we could have seen Ruddock against Holyfield. Ruddock vs Foreman would have been fun too.
He was decent but very limited. He lost his biggest fights with Tyson, Lewis and Morrison. Didn't have any significant wins. Holyfield, Foreman, Bowe would've been too much for him.
Donovan hit like a truck! He did very well during his carer, but I always wondered how much further he could have gone if he used his jab more. He had a good one, when he used it...
If Ruddock wasn't surging up the rankings at the time with big potential fights on the horizon he likely would have been disqualified for that illegal cheap shot after the second round. Still a very good boxer.
I remember sitting on my grandparents patio in the summertime watching CBS - the one channel that came in clear - on maybe a 13 inch TV. When Ruddock hit Odum after the bell, and it went to commercial, my grandfather, who rarely said anything - blurts out “What the h3ll was that?” Then after Ruddock murdered Mike Dokes at MSG, I assumed he was gonna cakewalk his way past Tyson. Didn’t happen but…good effort.
I don't know why Rudduck stop the footwork and jab he used against Weaver . He seemed to be content to take a punch to give punch but why not use that 82" reach.
Razor Ruddock was like the Black Gerry Cooney. He only had one punch that his opponents had to worry about. A man as big and strong as Ruddock should have been able to dispose of Mike Tyson, but his one-dimensional fighting style prevented that from happening. A steady jab and a follow-up right cross were required to defeat Tyson, but Ruddock apparently never heard of those punches. 🤦♂
Ruddock was left handed but fought orthodox (southpaw was looked upon very badly back then). He didn't have a hard right hook to land in a right hand cross
Clancy: "Ruddock has thrown a lot of ... hard punches and he still hasn't really wobbled Odum." Razor KOs Odum the next second with a granite fist. Clancy: "No question about it, (Ruddock) can punch."
shiii ruddock had some devastating power .. had ol boy wobbling around like an infant lol 15:45 edit: fast forwarded, didn't see the cheapshot .. yeah he definitely should have been dq'd but let's be real if the fight goes on without any of that it ends the way it did
OH PLEASE! Razor was SHOT after the Tyson fights, and Tyson was a "WALKING DEAD" Corpse in 2002. Lennox was a Great Fighter maybe the best of the 90's and early 2000's but those 2 wins plus the Mental Break Down of McCall in the rematch Not to mention his inability to STOP or SERIOUS DAMAGE a near 40 YEAR OLD Evander Holyfield in BACK TO BACK FIGHTS Given his enormous size advantage (6'5 240 - 245 pounds) and power advantage (A NUKE for a Right Hand) is why Lennox Lewis is the Larry Holmes of the his era. Great but lack luster.......like Holmes.

Yeah I agree I also want to point out my problem with lewis is lewis only has 44 fights,41 wins he simply wasn't tested enough, his admirers put him next to Muhammed ali, when ali had 61 fights....lewis went 44 fights where he beat every opponent he faced, but ali went 59 fights(ali didnt avenge his 2 losses to holmes and berbick, when he was washed up),so thiers no comparison....let's judge tyson on his 44 fights,he would of retired after he beat Bruno the second time, that means tyson would of never fought holyfield or even bruce seldon,he would of retired with only one loss....lewis wasn't tested enough with only 44 fights
Razzor ruddock u are powerful heavyweight fighters.. remember that !!... And talking about "tuna fights" most of fighters are from today's era......,.not past era's.!!. bcoz past era was having most of great skillful fighters in that division and most power punchers too !!.. Just imagine today's era heavyweight fighters were in past era's ..??? I think most of the fighters from today's era iam mean the best fighters would probably be a tuna fights for the past era's fighters ... easily...!!
I would have liked to have seen the scheduled Ruddock vs. Vitali Klitschko fight; too bad that Ruddock had to pull out of that one on late notice. Being the younger guy Vitali probably would have prevailed with Ruddock past his prime but a matchup between two hard-nosed, gritty boxers like that would have been a good viewing.
One fighter had a name, the other didn't. Boxing has always been this way. That is a dq ALL DAY LONG. And what happened to Odum? After this fight, he went 5-28-1. He was stopped 19 more times. maybe he wasn't that good to begin with. But, had they made the right call, he would have gotten a big money fight. As it was, he ended up a punching bag. Just a shame.
