I lost faith in Bethesda after Todd's hype of fallout 76. Will have to wait several years after TES 6 for the modders to make that game decent, Bethesda won't be able to.
I have to say this: "Wayward Realms" by the old Bethesda boys is now on Kickstarter. Now is the time to change horses. We need new (old?) blood in this game.
@@biggie_boss It certainly has! Just watching the video of the player character crawling on houses is straight up Daggerfall. Personally, I hope they can recreate the "okay, this is something else" feeling from Daggerfall of being in a world so large it is a real landscape in a massive, real world.
Why are so many major gaming studios so adamant on doing literally anything but giving the playerbase what they really want? This type of behaviour is just so freaking abusive, and they have the gall to call actual good games like Baldur's Gate 3 an anomaly.
Because most of the time, "what the players want" is actually "what 10% of the players want." Obviously that's not true for every single game, especially games with tight communities or multi-player/live services, but for most games, the general public does not care and just buys the games and doesn't engage with anything beyond that. A good example is minecraft. Minecraft has had "huge" controversy with the mob votes, except when you look at the numbers, and if we're being generous, it's about 10 million people who engage with the mob vote and are aware of the drama. Minecraft has 166 million active players. That's literally less than 10% of the entire player base, so why would Mojang even give a crap about what they have to say. Starfield had 10 million players at launch, and I think it's safe to assume that 80-90% of those players don't and won't engage with external mods. I've noticed this a lot recently with a lot of fanbases, who think that their opinions matter to these companies when, in reality, they are the small minority of the entire consumer base. It's quite pessimistic, but it's just reality.
@@ilikestamps2978 What they said. Most of the time a company will choose to prioritize the casual playerbase, since they're likely to drop money on whatever is in the store. But some other companies will choose to create a deep experience worth remembering, we just gotta be on the lookout for em.
I remember back when Morrowind had Free Creation Kit addons straight from the Bethesda site. Then we got Horse Armor. Eventually creations and their crapshoot of an implementation in Skyrim. Now they won’t even release the mod tools until they have their cash shop out. This may really just no longer be the company people knew and loved.
What was Bethesda to people exactly? The company that has tried over and over again to find means to shaft its fans? They've been doing this since Oblivion. Almost 20 years. They haven't deserved any kind of love since Morrowind; before they started experimenting with ways to part their fans from their money with every opportunity they saw.
People ask why game studios keep doing this. It because people keep paying for it. They make more profit on these micro transactions than the base game. If people stopped buying the junk micro transactions they'd go away.
It's like they are competing with mobile games to see who can cram their game with the most 💩💩to get idiots to buy. Indiana Jones will be bad but the creations page in the game will function better then the actual game.
Nexus needs some competition but Bethesda's way definitely isnt it. Nexus is way too use to abusing their position by banning mods that dont match their politics and getting into conflicts with mod authors over control of their mods while at the same time having literal fetish prn on their site.
Okay here's my rant I'm a Bethesda fan I played fallout 3, fallout 4, fallout New Vegas and Skyrim but I also like other games for example there's one that I just play on my downtime because it's a very chill game called farming simulator it has what's called a modhub which is similar to The Creation system on Skyrim and starfield we get weekly free mods released made by the community but the company itself also releases free mods made by them for anyone to download and use that is the same thing that bethesda's doing with starfield they are not trying to make this a money grab this is a way for Bethesda to release new content without having paid DLCs/explanations which they're probably still will be that but they can release these smaller creations to satisfy people who don't want to go out and spend $20 on an expansion they can go into the creation page and just get something smaller and cheaper that they can add to their game and I'm sorry but I think this is a bethesda's endgame to have fallout 4, Skyrim and starfield all on the creation system so they can I have free and paid mods this is just modern Bethesda and die hard fans are just going to have to get used to it...
Starfield killed my Elder Scrolls VI hype on release. Boring, outdated, cut scene (loading screen in disguise) fest. Modded Skyrim will always be peak Bethesda.
I don't really understand this type of criticism. Bethesda tried something completely out of their wheelhouse with Starfield, why would ES VI suffer just because they tried something new? I never thought they could even get ships working correctly, and turns out that's one of the best parts of Starfield.
I've built plenty of mods, converted armors, made leveled list overhauls, and well built a bunch of stuff...Published plenty and provided support on many mods...So all that I just said to make a point, these creations that you just showed off a lot of them would not even take me an hour to build. Heck those jump packs probably 5 to 15 minutes, I will spend more time just trying to make the webpage look its best than on the mod itself.
Yes they will, this is just a video of a knee jerk reaction. Creation Club will-not replace websites like Nexus. People like to make money and some people want to make their hobby a career and get paid for their work. So some modders want to monetize their work and get free advertising so they can make a little profit passively and current day gaming landscape looks to support games on a 10 year plan so Creation Club is a win/win for studios, which is why stuff like this exist. If Bethesda really didn't care for the fanbase they would keep modding tools behind lock-and-key and only officially support Creation Club and give cease and desist notices against free mods, but thankfully we don't live in that universe.
Yeah I never had hope for TEVI. The expectations are high for VI, and tbh they will fall flat with all the mods people have made. TESVI will never be compared to a modlist.
Thats pretty standard tho. EA also makes Fifa. Activision kept Bobby forever. Microsoft still tries with Xbox. If theyre still doing it, it probably means theyre willing to take the backlash bcs its profitable anyways. Or at least they hope itll be at some point
I totally get it... its paid mods. We dont want that BUT you have to understand if modders put their content on the CC then they want it on there regardless of how much of a cut they get. Just dont buy it bro. Get the free stuff. Just dont get it bro i dont understand the drama.
I'd prefer it if they never make ES6 to be honest. It will just be another of our favorite franchises butchered. It will probably be a half baked, unfinished and woke slop.
@@unclegoose3864If it is ever going to happen. These projects have been going on for so long now haha. But yeah definitely interested in playing. Enderal was a true gem. I expect sth similar of them 🥴
Skyblivion gives me hope for the future. I have been waiting so long for ES6 at this point I have no hype at all. What makes this worse though is like the AE version of skyrim, some modders are going to REQUIRE you to have all the dlc content, and I don't think that's cool either.
I mean it’s all about perceived value. If Bethesda was releasing banger mods on there that were at a cheap price, more people would buy into the idea and the mods. But in full AAA fashion, they underdeliver and overcharge when they should be overdelivering and undercharging. So no I ain’t buying.
Tes VI isn't doomed it's a skyrim mod. Is it gonna be Beyond Skyrim? Apotheosis? Odyssey of the Dragonborn? It's gonna happen it's just a question of when it's gonna happen, unless Bethesda shuts down modding. 🤔
I don't understand, doesn't this just support mod authors with revenue and a platform to advertise their work? If its not Bethesda's own mods then I fail to see the issue.
Only 30% goes to mod authors and it promotes the full monetization of mods. If this became the standard, modlists wouldn't be possible. You would never have the ability to create these massive packs of 3,000+ mods. Modding is a collective hobby, not something we should lock behind payments.
i wouldn't mind creation club if they put actual long form content with voice acting etc. we would probably have to wait awhile for new content. but i prefer quality over quantity
I've been against Creation club content from the beginning. Knee it would be abused eventually. It's so annoying listening to fanboys defend Bethesda and their crumby monetization practices
I honestly don’t mind this, as long as free nexus mods reign. It’s nice seeing modders get recognition by Bethesda and actually have the opportunity to make money doing what they love
The problem is not only the paywall. The main problem with for example creations is that they just suck. Small flat stories which dont even have voice acting. Bethesda… didnt manage to get voice acting done in their own game. If great projects like Enderal, Clockwork, forgotten city etc. got a small price Im sure way fewer people would complain. Yeah there would be less people playing those. But at least youd get quality for your buck. Creations however were relatively expensive for relatively low quality mods
Can't wait to see Bethesda try and resell Starfield 5 times like they did with Skyrim. First we'll get the Legendary Edition, then the Anniversary Edition in order to get people to buy their Creation Club content that's 'included' with the game. At least they didn't decide to add a FoMO scoreboard like with Fallout 76.
I wont discredit the developers who poured their heart into what they worked on with starfield, but the final product was not good in my opinion. I actually think the game sucks pretty hard. But Bethesda keeps making it worse. I dont think there's any chance of elder scrolls 6 breaking this trend with them. Most of the game will be ala carte with compatibility issues.
Brain damage due to oxygen deprivation? An awful accident that left you mentally impaired? Being dropped on the head as a baby too often? Who knows? It could be all those things and many many more. ;)
Then players would need to wait for good mods to come out way after the dlc, they want good mods to be made before the dlc comes out so that when the dlc comes out players will be ready to play with established mods straight away
Starfield is completely atrocious. No amount of mods will ever make it a good game. Bethesda/Microsoft's greed was expected. I have no hype or hope for anything Bethesda makes in the future. I want Microsoft to pass their IPs off to someone else, to be 100% honest.
Problem is. Ppl DO HAVE the money. They keep spending it on useless shit on the internet instead of feeding their families properly. Everyone is coping these days.... Why do ppl have time to watch hours and hours of video content and streams and shit and donate money to streamers and patreon and everything while I dont see any of those people going to the gym or having a nice time out with friends or family... This generation is flippin lost already... / rant over - Oh and most important point is... Bethesda and all these other companies wouldnt offer this shit if they didnt know that a lot of non thinking folks will certainly buy this shit because its more convenient then supporting modders or doing the modding work yourself.
It seems Skyrim will remain the apex of Bethesda modding for the foreseeable future. Shame they choose to hurt their current, and future products so much, though the motivation is obvious.
@@biggie_boss I am happy to be stupid! Paid mods are not mandatory. Your reasoning is simply faulty, bitter and misleading. There is a ton of free content. If people prefer that. No one works for free. I am fine paying the $7 dollars for something I can enjoy many times over.
@@biggie_boss well, I am 52 years old and have been part of the “problem” for years. Really? I work for my money and I don’t want any hand outs. Not only I am fine to choose and pay or not for content offered, I am also happy to donate to those creator that offer free content. The real problem is kids, people or else that all they want in life is free staff. Life is not free and people don’t work for free. That’s the real problem. NO ONE points the gun to your head and tells you to buy anything. You got a choice. If you don’t like it don’t buy, play something else, or download the thousands of free mods. Finally, the silent and vast majority (not the few vocal Bethesda haters), has downloaded the Vulture quest in huge numbers with over 400k downloads so far. I rest my case. Good luck. 👍🏻
Crazy how after 52 years you're still that entitled and snobby. Modding is a hobby. Open modding is the only reason Bethesda is where it is today. I make mods. I make modlists. For free. I also use other people's free mods. MOST modders believe in this concept. It's the greedy ones that are threatening to ruin literal decades of progress. Go read Wrye's Cathedral vs Parlor essay and try to educate yourself before ever touching another mod again.
Look. I honestly fuck with creation club. It’s there if u want to buy it, if u don’t wanna buy it then fuck off and don’t buy it. It’s not a hard logic to comprehend. I can almost guarantee u. In a few years they will release all the creation club stuff bundled in an upgrade. But yet again. If u don’t like the shit they make, simple don’t buy it. They help put modders buy giving them the chance to sell what they make, they use the money we give them for new Bethesda games. We get "new content“ to play with in game. It’s not that big of a deal. Atleast it’s not like ESO or 76. to get any of the cool shit in 76. For the most part u gotta buy it. And then u gotta drop upwards towards 100 smackarooners for ESO just to play the new area, to get new spells, new weapons, mounts and armor
It isn't that simple for a multitude of reasons. I've covered this time and time again in my streams. They poach Nexus authors, they pay them pennies (Bethesda takes the lion's share), they don't need more money (BGS is owned by Microsoft), the CC is lower quality than free mods, the CC is used to fill in the holes that Bethesda keeps making in their shallow and empty games, etc etc. The list goes on and on. But saying "we can just ignore it" is quite literally ignorant.
Imagine putting together a mod list of 500 plus mods, you would need to pay 1000 euros minimum. Also, Creation Engine is old!!! Just look at how empty and dull the cities of Starfield look!!! I swear, Red Dead Redemption 2 from 2019 is better than Starfield in every regard...
You are aware that CC is completaly voluntarily to opt-in to? That means that you don't HAVE to pay anything for those mods. This is also nothing new - BGS games have had Creations available for purchases the last 8 years at a minimum. The dead of free mods have been screamed at least as long but still the nexus mod community are thriving better than ever. Stop spewing utterly nonsens and instead start to make some positive content. This is only click bate and makes no sense at all!
Lgbtq picture frames mods that say "gay Af" on them is the funniest and saddest thing ive ever seen. Its pretty clear from major banks to game developers theres just more emphasis on diversity hires than creative and skilled employees.
A big part of the Ubisoft income is coming from microtransactions, so apparantly people are buying this crap. Bethesda wants a piece too. I knew that starfield would suck when I watched an interview with Todd before the release and he was talking about different types of food in the game. Like, you're releasing the first game after so many years and all you have to talk about is food? And my favorite video where the guy asks Todd about why are there no vehicles in Starfield and Phil Spencer starts laughing, you can't make this shit up. Starfiled is so bad that I don't want to try even the "free edition", skyrim with mods is still way better and I think it will stay that way because even modders are not enthusiastic about starfield. The only way we could stop this is not buying this BS.
whats the promble you dont have to pay to get Bethesda content its up to you if you want it or not and a lot of the community is free. from Bethesda side they want moeny to pay staff and other things related to starfield as it takes a lot to make.
@@biggie_boss okay then why dont you make a game for the long run lets see how have you get with out makeing money. all games need to make a profit to keep going. aswell the staff need to be payed. look at GTA5 its been over a decade and it keeps going. they give free dlc. and people pay money for in game money. its an options for people to do what they want.
@@nicorichardson15 Microsoft, one of the largest corporations in the world, owns Bethesda. This is greed. They aren't an indie game studio, they are a AAA developer.
@@biggie_boss i see where you coming from. but it takes a lot of people and highend equipment to make games AAA that adds up. lets say each staff make $71,151 a year for exmpale 71,151 time 450= $32,017,950 thats just payroll for a year
@@nicorichardson15xbox made a $4 billion profit in the gaming sector closing 2023, of which starfield helped greatly with over 11 million players (the highest of any newly released bethesda game ever. how on earth do you come to the conclusion that milking the fan base is somehow the solution to AAA development studios being caught in their own stupid gaming financial bubble that they have created themselves. The only people that are going to buy CC content are the naive and uninformed people that dont know any better, its pure exploitation.
Biggie is against paid mods to a hilarious degree. Let Bethesda do what it wants who gives a fuck. You can still mod the game for free just fine. I'm tired of getting an everyone ping on Discord every few days just for bitching and moaning. I'm just as tired of the 'BETHESDA BAD LOL' track as I am of the Bethesda fanboys. Just fucking get over it holy SHIT it does not affect anyone that doesn't want to buy mods in the slightest.
Well said Biggie. I have zero interest in paywalled mods and sneaky micro transactions. I'll not buy - full stop. I am worried though about the long term future of all gaming studios owned by MS. It looks to me like they are trying to link the modding tools to the OS in order to work properly, and we can all see the awful decisions being made in term of forcing the user into submitting to MS wants, from data mining to train their AI so they can sell products back to you, to the utter horror show that is Recall. Something that has already been hacked and the hacker went public and called it a basic trojan.
It's a great business model. I don't know if you have kids, but I can tell you first hand that the amount of Robux and Vbucks that the little ones in this family have been gifted by the grandparents that they just blow away on worthless shit within one minute of receiving it with no consideration whatsoever, it's why this is happening, not because of the crowd you're talking to. They don't know the value of anything, and they don't care either.
I could not have said it better myself. Bethesda really has gone to crap. I will laugh if TES6 drops it's player base to below modded Skyrim just like Starfield did. I predict it now, two months after launch.
I share the exact same sentiments, Biggie. Bethesda can go suck it. We'll in a month how the modding landscape looks for Starfield, but I fear greedy modders will overtake the "forever free" mindset which exists for Fallout and Elder Scrolls...
I mean... we all know this thing will coming eventually. It also makes me lose anything left in me that want to get this game even on discount Soooo in the end it's really help me to stay away from this sh#t show lol
The only reason y'all cry is because y'all actually want what they're pushing without having to pay for it. You don't hate Creation Club. You hate spending money, lmfao. You'll all be there downloading your _1024K Textures_ Wabbajacks when TESVI drops, so sit down, lol. As if y'all ain't hiding your Steam profiles so no one knows you already have 200+ hours in Starfield and God-only-knows how many in Skyrim. 🤪 Quit trippin'.
Actually braindead. I have a Skyrim modlist with over 3,300 mods. That wouldn't be possible if all the mods were paid. Creation club is beyond dumb and greedy.
Don't really have an issue with it , MSFS has loads of payware , what I do have an issue with is the FO76 1st subscription unlimited scrap box , which literally affects how you play ,
"small"-er youtubers like you are the only ones who stand up to say the truth. All the biggest ones are too scared to say anything bad about this crap cause playing bethesda games is literally their job. And man, fuck bethesda. they saw mods and thought: "free downloadable content? that can't be right"
Adding to everything you said biggie, i don't understand how this structure can be a good bussiness strategy. Modding got as popular as now, because of accesibility and cooperation (this pseudo open source framework that modders tend to use) this cannot be replicated in this "Creation Club" idea. I don't think they will even got the income necesary for paying the servers and people mantaining in this. I guess is a moronic board decision that wanted to replicate minecraft, or they wanted to kill competition by making mods "outside of creation" illegal in some way. But even if they do that, nobody is going to use this service, is not worth it (even not considering the reputation loss or doing that kind of decision). This is a CEO saying... "creation is going to make millions of dollars, this will increase the shares value so i can get my bonus"... and then they need to cut developer time because the companies are bleeding money...
And if Skyrim is anything to go by these mods are complete scams it toke the entire skyrim extended cut team too make saints and seducers what it should have been in the first place bethesda couldn't even be bother with basic voice acting
That's what's especially insulting. It takes a special kind of lazy to make Skyrim's vanilla quests look well written, and yet most creation club mods do exactly that.
