Black mages that actually know how to use their kit to maximise their laylines uptimes, as opposed to those who just refuse to move are easily the best black mages. A good black mage will always have laylines placed in a space that allows them to move just enough to stay within the radius and avoid telegraphed AOEs, and the times they have to shift, you'll barely even notice they're gone
Unless the game decides you don't get your leylines this 2min. I was in Din Scaith fight the queen, and the only other Blk was in my party. The arena is huge for that fight, and she drops that AOE that spirals out in to line AOEs right? So I move aside a bit and pop my leylines and get the fun time started!... Or not cuz right when I pop it, she drops that aoe smack in the middle of my leylines, covering the whole thing completely and I can only just lament. I pop in pc with "RIGHT IN MY LEYLINES!!!" And the only other Blk that was in the raid and also my party (who had popped their leylines like slightly away from mine and thus still have half their lines open for them when the line aoes procced) said back "I saw and I felt it in my soul".
@@Crawver There is no such thing as "those who dont move". I dont think anyone who plays BLM on any harder content dont dodge mechanics because he wants fkin leylines uptime because that person would die anyway. And on easier content it usually doesnt matter either way. From where people got that stupid nonsense about BLMs being glued to ley lines?
As a black mage I can confirm that if I'm pulled out of an aoe by rescue I implode because I totally and completely know what I'm doing. I have aetherial manipulation. I totally don't die 40% of the time cause I'm not quick enough.
@@ronzology thank you for your reply. Since youtube has updated the notification system I needed to change my settings, so I didnt see the previous comment. Hopefully I will remember this when I next log on. Kind regards, this is way too long.
Yes, because as a Warrior main and Black Mage in training I can confirm that death is a CHOICE! When I don't self heal properly or get out of the AOE in time, well. . . Then it's just my fault. No one told me to slip up 😅
It's weird to know i'm one of the few BLM's that step out of laylines, no other class has the thrill of Snapping to someone who knows wtf they are doing teleporting to them, then teleporting back to your circle in one swift move.
Black mages would truly rather get yeeted off the platform to their doom than leave their leylines. That said, some of them really are masters at moving at the very last second.
Look, as often as you can zip to other players and back, you just as often can't. So sometimes you gotta chuck on manaward and pray the healer forgives you. Unless the mech gives dmg down then its no bueno.
Black Mages are the most consistently greedy dps I ever did see. And they're also the most consustently successful at this I've seen. Did a p10s once where a BLM was my partner. Didnt matter where I was standing. They'd always be on me for Bonds when it was Duos. I never had to move, and I barely saw them walk either.
BLMs like myself love that adrenaline rush of, casting just 1 more Fire 4, zooming out of leylines, to just barely I mean barely dodge an aoe, and zooming back to leylines. It's fun, but its at the cost of healers stressing out about me almost dying everytime.
Listen, if a Black Mage dies, it's their fault. If I die. It is MY FAULT. You can rescue me IF I AM MOVING, NOT IF I AM STANDING MY LEYLINES p-please TToTT
I need to practice Aetherial Manipulation. Takes quick reflexes to see an ally not in the AoE, click on them, then click Aetherial Manipulation in time to avoid the AoE.
It takes some getting used to, but try using this macro to skip having to click on a teammate: /merror off /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" /micon "Aetherial Manipulation" If you just hover over the teammate with your mouse (could be on the party list or the actual player model) and then press the button it just works. Might want to click the hotkey a few times though cause macros don't buffer like regular buttons (though the multiple lines tries to alleviate this)
As a healer, over time I stopped touching blm, that is, I’m sure if he’s in AoE, he knows what he’s doing, and if not, well..(sometimes when I see how BLM runs away from leylines I'm sad with them)
I love using my rescue as an astrologian on my husband when he's playing reaper and messing with him. He always is like, what the hell, really, babe? xD
Don't black mages canonically cover their eyes so that they can better learn to sense and control ather? Would explain why they never seem to see the AoEs. *edit LEYLIFE FOR MY LEYWIFE LEYLIFE FOR MY LEYWIFE LEYLIFE FOR MY LE- *Killed by an AoE*
This is why you gotta learn to slide cast. Especially if you're a BLM. There's no reason not to start practicing as soon as you unlock Thaumaturge. You'll certainly be getting plenty of it as you level up.
I never use rescue when i'm the healer. The AoE is right there. If you stay in the cheetos dust area you deserve it. BUT SO HELP ME GOD IF YOU DO RESCUE ME WHEN I AM USING FLAMETHROWER INSIDE THE CHEETOS PISS PUDDLE!! THAT'S A WHOLE 800 DAMAGE TICK!
I love pulling blms off their circles for absolutely no reason and standing next to the other healer while I do it so they dont know which one of us is responsible
I have not yet encountered a BLM in a high level dungeon (just started Stormblood and in Kugane, for reference) and I fear for the day I do, because I'm gonna have to fight the urge to intentionally use Rescue on one. On the other hand? If this doesn't get me to learn how to use Sage properly, *nothing will*.
