For me this is one of worst maps on whole game.

I love this map. Don't know why. It's not like I even have it memorized. I just really enjoy playing it. We are a rare breed.

I hate it. For me, it encapsulates most of my least favourite parts about Doom level design.

It's really excellent, great design and layout, great music, and the very first Berserk Pack.

I've been finding UV -fast to be a good intermediate challenge for if you're no longer excited by UV but not quite up for NM. Idk if modern source ports make -fast more accessible bc I play Chocolate Doom lmao, but in Vanilla/Chocolate/etc, it does require a little extra work to set up (I have a batch file for each episode of Ultimate Doom and one for Doom 2 to start me on the first map on UV -fast) but once that's set up, it's even quicker and easier to start up a game than usual bc I just open the batch file and it skips the menus and pops me right into the game. There's a pretty big downside in that it doesn't seem to save properly; when I try to save a game on -fast, loading that saved game crashes the program, so that forces me to play the entire episode/WAD in one sitting (which works for me bc that's how I like to play anyways, but I know I'm unusual in that regard). But I've gotten so used to playing on -fast that when I was watching Decino's most recent Arrival video, I didn't even notice -fast was on until he mentioned it lmao, I think it's a lot of fun and I recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for more excitement than regular old UV.

It's for sure a nice change of pace. With the respawning enemies making kills a temporary convenience rather than an end goal, your priorities change RADICALLY.

I've tried a few remixes and modernisations, and ultimately I agree. It stands perfectly on its own.

Oh my, yes. Part of me thinks E2M5 might be worse bc it's so spread out, but E2M6 has so many tight hallways with turbopinkies and barons so it's hard to say which one will be worse, but I totally agree that they'll both be pretty challenging.

Map 11 storage facility from tnt evolution has a box maze too but larger than containment area.

I will do Doom II too.

Uh, well, I've recorded every map of Ultimate Doom already haha. E4M6 was definitely the toughest one to pull off. Practice included.

It's an oversight in the vanilla Doom engine.

None in Doom 1; Episode 1's maximums are 9 in Phobos Lab and 7+2 in Toxin Refinery + Military Base. E2's next highest is the 10 in Deimos Lab or 10+1 in Command Center + Fortress of Mystery; Episode 3's maximum is the ten in Unholy Cathedral, but you're better off just skipping to the exit and avoiding that place; no level in Thy Flesh Consumed has more than four secrets. Haven't checked Doom 2.

E4M3 has 22 secrets, but only because the map maker fricked up.

Refueling base has 18 secrets

right, every sector of a staircase (I think it's the staircase) in a secret in E4M3 is tagged as a separate secret. I checked by map hopping in GZDoom and it corrects the secret count in that level.

Maybe in the more "casual" WADs, otherwise I won't.

Doom II for sure. Don't know about the rest yet.
