Ive been playing Revenant a ton and already broke 50 matches as him, ive been trying to spread tips on him in the doom discord and this video perfectly says all the things i have been trying to spread and felt people needed to know to understand not just the Revenant better, but the entire game mode. I'll be doing a Battle Mode video in general next but I really wanted to get the revenant out there first as its my favourite. I didn't believe in the Revenant at first until I started using the stuff i mentioned in the video. I made an in-depth tutorial series about Doom 2016's Multiplayer many years ago. It feels good to bring this series back for new Demons and Slayers alike. I know there's more stream footage in this video aside from raw gameplay, but the gameplay and footage was incredibly appropriate to what I had to say, so I deemed it worthy of adding in from a live environment against real people. I feel as though instead of the two preset loadout. They should be customizable. I wish I could have healing, AND the gas. Edit: I wish the Archvile could set the slayer on fire directly. And summon back the player demon. (Directly as in. The classic doom version.)
@@littlebadassgaming You can. After round 3, you can pick the "instant ressurect" power upgrade that does exactly that, bring your dead teammate back on use.
Thanks for making this vid, I hope you do more. To many people jump straight into battlemode without even knowing the controls or mechanics and then whine about things being OP after they get destroyed for playing like it's CoD. We need a little more expert perspectives :)
Honestly haven’t even used the Revenant yet. Mostly been playing the slayer and the marauder, but you’ve done a good job making me wanna try him out next time I get the chance.
As a slayer, my primary damage output is quick swapping between the precision bolt and ballista. If both land, that's 1000 damage in about a second. You need to be super cautious with when and where you fly otherwise you've got about two seconds to live.
I was a slayer on my first match, and i was against a maruader and a revenant who literally just installed the game. They were running around aimlessly and clearly didnt know how the game works. I think we need a ranked mode so we can be matched with people of our skill level.
I don't get it. None of these slayers held w+m1 on you with super shotty grapple and railgun. Nobody used machine gun scope. Everyone is holding w but going slow and not even shooting you. These slayers don't even look like they're fighting back. I really can't get into batrlemode because it feels impossible to lose as Slayer... The damage output is ridiculous and you don't even need to stop for ammo pickups because you have more than enough to start off with. Rail>MG zoom does 1k damage and it's completely unfair IMO
YOO its frothy, yea the slayer is pretty much limitless. But if the slayer messes up and theres a round 4 it seems the demons can semi roll with thos broke mid round endgame perks but if the slayer doesnt lose the super simple rounds, he'll win everytime. The only team comp i can see have a CHANCE is double archvile. The rubberbanding is awful too but gotta say it can be pretty fun for a bit the dev just werent going for balance.
1. Most of these slayers were there to display revenant, these were mostly private matches 2. Guess what? Some people are new to the game and aren't that good yet. It's like any multiplayer game when you first get it :/
The matchmaking is super unbalanced right now. I don’t think there’s much of skill based match making in place, there really needs to be a tracked competitive playlist
Honestly I just ended up deciding against using hitscans and hotswap combos It just ain't fun to end a round in less than a minute,I prefer when the matches last long enough to be actually enjoyable
Played my first ever Battlemode match with him and from my very limited experience, I can say the Revenant is quite nimble and agile. Kinda reminds me of Pharah from Overwatch.
I plaued against 2 revenants with healing zones. I would always end up chasing one and getting a rocket barrage in the back. Mere moments later they'd both be fully healed again. Hardest match I've ever played.
Even over a year after getting the game and playing battlemode, I’m still maining him. I love how fast and aggressive he can be while still being rather weak for balance. Any revenant player can say getting a slayer in a toxic cube while using barage that instantly kills him even with almost full stack is an absolute rush. I would say if you want to play the revenant or any demon, try both loud-outs for about 30-50 match’s each. He is a ton of fun to play if you like power of the Manchus and speed of the marauder.

I've been playing Revenant for 4 years. Ha! There's already some extra stuff I wish I put in this video, like how good the Def Loadout is because damage reduction makes you not die for free during Rocket Barrage and heal is insanely useful against a really good slayer.
PNDK&M Yeah you're not wrong about the def loadout, that healing is underrated. Man I love the revenant for its damage and mobility, but it gets melted so quickly 😣 For real though the way you made this guide was 10/10. If you make more guides like this with the different monsters or different strategies you'll dominate RU-vid even more 👍
As someone who's gone against plenty of Revenants, even a good revenant is super easy to kill with lock-on rockets if they have a lousy teammate. I can see Revenant being rare between randoms but more of a staple among friends playing as demons. I swear the times I was destroyed by revenants, it really felt like I was outplayed by a group strategy and barraged by missiles. Interesting stuff, might pick him up once my friend gets Eternal.
How has lag been for you? I've heard its quite laggy but I wonder if thats just the matchmaking matching people on opposite sides of the world or if the game is just laggy by design
I've had matches where the connection seemed perfect (a few were private matches), but most of the time whenever I'm playing quick play, the slayer seems to be lagging around and teleporting. It's super hard to play against, and not fun. It ruined my friend's first impressions, and I doubt he's gonna try it anymore. What hurts the most is that, unless I'm blind, I haven't been able to find any network settings or even in game pings for players. I'm hoping that this is something that can be fixed soon, as the game is super fun, but the lag ruins it.
I really hope they add more gamemodes in the future. For example, I would love a death match game mode with only demons. Perhaps they could even bring the prowler back as a playable demon, and add some other new ones. Playable whiplashes seem appealing...
I doubt prowler will be added (as hes a summon) but chances are doom hunter will be a dlc demon! I’d also like to see a juggernaut game mode, where it’s like a tyrant against smaller demons or something
I can’t process the people that say the doom slayer is underpowered. Do you see the damage numbers the demons hit on the slayer? Depressingly low numbers
Martin Hall hotswap between super shotgun and ballista allows the slayer to kill 2000 hp in 5 seconds. Is damage output is insane when you can hotswap. Low hp doesn’t matter when a good slayer ends the game in 15 seconds
What i find bad in this battle mode with revenant (my experience): 1- Control is stupid for PC. You have to choose and cast the skills instead of pressing one button it's complicated. 2- Barrage doesnt work. I don't know why i couldn't cast barrage whole game. It works rarely. 3- Self damage stupid. Hurting your own demons stupid. I personally spawn a lot of demons and make slayer stuck but i can't shoot slayer in that area. My own demons blocks me whole fckn game. The mode is promising but i feel like it's in a beta state currently. I can't blame them but it needs to be improved. Too much bugs, netcode issues... Also i find that strategy part of this mode is lacking. It's faster than i thought.
Anyone else feel like Battlemode has connection issues in game? Or is it just me. There’s always also the possibility that my personal network is being buckled due to increased traffic on all fronts due to quarantine, BUT, whatever it is, it’s making it really difficult to win as demons. Is anyone else having lag issues against the slayer?
PNDK&M Just for clairvoyance sake, are you spending most of your time playing online or in private matches. (You play MK, so I’d assume you’re also playing wired :P)
PNDK&M Ah that’s a shame. Hopefully the increased traffic on networks due to the pandemic is to blame. Then again, if that’s the case I don’t know of any way for them to fix the latency issues.
I’m not going to lie, I really wish the Revenant was still the mechanized corpse of a demon. Having it be a human has always been really weird considering how powerful they are.
BirdsEyeView that’s funny my guy because In other videos people have complained that the mode is biased towards the demons. That it is hard to win as the slayer.
The biggest issue is that it's dependant on all 3 players and their level Of experience. Mustard and I streamed battle. Mode for about 5 hours yesterday and we only lost to one slayer who was exceptionally good and we were still learning. Other than that, demon felt insanely strong. I dunno what the balance is like yet because opinions are all over the place.
Yeah I've been winning 95% of games as Slayer as well, the gamemode seems quite dependent on the slayer's general DPS competency as hitting 1 alpha rotation (rocket>doublebarrell>ballista) is enough to more than half health most demons, and you can poke using the AR's scope on gamestart etc etc The games where I see demons roflstomp (when I play as demon anyway) are when the slayers are just using plasma/cannon/chaingun or trying to do slow things like shooting the ballista only etc. You can see in this video that when the slayer has clear Line of Sight against Ketchup (when the revenant is above him) he should ideally be able to kill him very quickly with quick remote det -> double barrel-> ballista -> remote det. Another thing is that as the slayer you can just ignore pretty much all of the mobs for the most part and not waste bullets on them; they don't do Nightmare difficulty levels of damage and only really grief you if you get body blocked by them. leaving groups of them alive actually help you (which makes me wonder if Demons that summon maykr drones/double shields actually help the slayer) because you can throw grenade + belch + remote det and get all ur armour back provided you dont get blocked (Remember you dont need to kill to get armour drops, just damage them). When a full blast doublebarrel+ballista does like 1000dmg to demons I actually wonder if the demons are completely helpless since they can't regen health from longrange ballista/cannon pokes as easily
This is fun and all but nothing compared to Doom 2016’s multiplayer :( makes zero sense to me as to why they didn’t include it, imagine how much fun traditional arena pvp would be with the movement and fluidity of this game
2016's was pretty mediocre. I played it for a while and just gave up. Nothing exciting. Eternal's is interesting but from what I've been hearing, they've got to work on it some more. It's a pretty unique format of multiplayer. I hope they can sustain it somehow.

Man, this game has a lot of lags. When i cover over slayer for two seconds and he cant shoot me i die because he shoot me i dont know why. Its hard game but funny but LAGS is terrible.
