I believe that Heaven created all the dimensions for a reason. And when the dimensions failed to meet the goals heaven set out for them Heaven created a new realm, Hell. And Hell's goal is to conquer all these failed world's like Argent Dnure and Earth. That is why the ghost dude tells Doom Guy it is Earth's turn to pay penance. We have failed in the eyes of Heaven just like The Sentinels and our dimension will suffer a similar fate and be completely absorbed into Hell.
It more than likely it’s more of the fact that the doom slayer failed to live up to expectations as a night sentinel and humanity failed in their expectation to live without a constant lust for the next best thing it can also be said that the doom slayer in his own right failed humanity as well by continuing to battle despite the wishes of the night sentinels
@@Crackers0106 not the Rapture because humans aren't being saved and taken to Heaven. Heaven doesn't care about us they just want Hell to wipe out our realm
I was thinking the same thing about the Marauder being the Betrayers son too, I think that it just makes to much sense for him not be the Betrayers son
But the betrayer mentions a heart and in the trailer it kinda shows the icon of sin, it's hands and a heart The maurader could be a fallen elite night sentinel as it's design is almost exactly the same as a elite night sentinels concept art
Night Sentinel: So why are you on your own crusade against hell? Doom slayer/guy : they killed my rabbit Night Sentinel: Oh shit I gotta get outta here.... Not sure if it was a rabbit or bunny ._.
@@jaketimusprime4634 I personally dont really like Doom 3. I never played it but it seems pretty slow. Like, in doom 3 you are stuck with demons, while in doom 2016 demons are stuck with you. Dont get me wrong, doom 3 is a nice game, but from what i saw it doesnt really fit my style :)
By the way, you`re pretty perceptive man. Finding little easter eggs everywhere like Romero`s name and the tyrant screaming rip and tear in the trailer.
I think the betrayer could have been one of the slayers best friends, that is why when he was corrupted it was such a big deal and when you interact with him its not just like any other demon. Great video wraith, keep it up👍
I'm leaning more towards the idea that the betrayer's son turned into the Icon of Sin and the artifact(sword hilt?) that the betrayer gave to the Doom Slayer could be the son's own crucible.
Thanks for the info dude, I’m playing Doom 2016 and I’m reading all the back story this game has to give me and I’m sure Doom 2020 will add even more to it. Keep making badass content.
I find it incredibly interesting that the Slayer bows to King Novik. This is someone who rip and tears his way through Hell, yet he respects this King or whatever is left of him.
@Jarl William The Night Sentinels adopt warrior culture and deems only the strongest warrior can rule Sentinel Prime. The King of the Sentinel Prime must be a warrior that can lead troops to battle not sitting behind the throne. Any kings who are unfit to lead troops will dispose off and replace with one that is more capable.
Its a bit of a stretch to try and say the Marauder is the Betrayers son when we know his son IS The Icon of Sin. But other than that I like and agree with your video. Good work.
No way his son is the icon lol. All the demons praise the icon. There’s no way some night sentinel that was transformed not even that long ago (in terms of hells existence) is the KING of Demons. It makes way more sense for his son to be the Marauder
@@pdayungog4755 the icon of sin IS the betrayers son. The icon isn't the king of demons. It's more like a symbol they follow. A demonstration of hell's power. All this has already been confirmed, but you had interesting idea, just a little late to the party.
My thoughts are, that the Slayer when he was leading the Sentinal's army, went after the hell priests. Something that we have just now learned, is that they're of sentinal blood, maybe that made some of the followers of the crusade come to terms that the Slayer was a *Usurper...* So, some of them already bitter with the fact that someone of no sentinal blood was leading them, betrayed the Slayer, and became enforcers of hell living only to serve and protect the hell priests. The true betrayal. In their eyes, was following a *False Idol* , killing someone they held as a equal ( hell priests) of flesh and blood, even after their transgressions. At least that's what i came with after seeing the last trailer, and Gameplays.
8:38 - Ok as much as I like the Doom Hunter from the gameplay, this design tho, kinda looks more badass to rip and tear it to shreds and it also reminds me of that Skynet Hunter Killer Tank. If this was a DLC boss that is as big as a Titan, I would definitely buy it.
Been watching your videos for about a week. So far my favorite channel for Doom related stuff and can’t wait to watch more once it comes out. Good job.
I think The Marauder is Icon of Sin in "human size" form. YES, I am thinking about The Baphomet titan size "Icon of Sin" could be a mix of demon titan & sentinel mech. DOOM Eternal literally showcasing Sentinel mech multiple times, so kinda make sense when you think about it, especially since The Betrayer is a human size person too. Like kinda weird to have his son (icon of sin) grow into a freaking titan just because of demon transformation. Let's not also forget that Hugo Martin just keep saying that The Marauder is like the "nemesis" for our DOOM slayer. I could be very wrong though.
@@TwisterCobra exactly what I was referring to, the seemingly icon of sin in the new trailer seems to have mechanical things attached to his body, you know, like a mech titan. from story standpoint, kinda make sense too, if The Marauder is also icon of sin, as players could actually interact with him & see his characterization. So to summarized this, The Betrayer's fallen son (Icon of Sin) was a fallen Greatest Night Sentinel prince, he was demonized into The Marauder, while his mech titan is his true "titanic" Icon of Sin form. That's also why the Icon of Sin also dormant, because it needs its "pilot" which basically The Marauder.
I can't believe in 2020 we're talking about Doom lore. 6 year old me would have fucking loved this. 28 year old me fucking loves it. I can't wait for more lore vids
What if the Slayer is the Doomguy and after completely straying from his own universe/version of Earth and humanity he was seeking out the dark lords of hell for revenge and to end hell itself but in the process, found himself in the umbral plains (possibly still thinking it was hell) killing demons who were actually trying to take over Argent D'nur. This lead to him finding the knight sentinals and he was helping them in their battle against hell the whole time without even realizing which in turn formed whatever relationship we see between the Slayer and the sentinals in DOOM Eternal. Damn i love theorizing.
I think you missed an important fact. According to the Slayer Testaments, the Slayer wore the crown. So the Slayer was around for King Novik's death and because he was their greatest warrior, he was crowned King. This goes into why the Marauder called him a Usurper, because he doesn't like the idea of an outsider to their culture taking up the crown. This means that despite them getting trapped, they might have found a way back, only to realize that the King had been killed. The ones that had wronged the Doom Slayer, were likely the Priests and that this was the event. Anyway, another thing you missed is that the Lazuraus Wave was not something that came from Hell originally, it's properties are the same thing from this Wraithcall. The fusing of flesh and metal and twisting lesser beings, is exactly what happens when exposed to large amounts of argent energy in the form of this wave. As Hell was around for a long time, it's doubtful that it only came about because of the Wraithcall effecting various lesser beings, as those become mostly unthinking creatures, while the demons are actually pretty smart. Instead, it seems more that gaining the Elemental Wraiths and this call, sped up the creation of lesser demons and let the more intelligent benefit from the ability to fuse flesh and metal. This is why demons like Whiplash, Mancubus and Carcass have metal bits, even before further cyberization. Also why it was so easy for the Cyber Demon to accept his new parts and come back to life, even when he had suffered extensive damage when he was a pure organic being before the UAC found his corpse. This also further explains the Sentinel armor, as well as why taking in argent energy makes the Slayer more healthy, tanky and have more ammo. Argent Energy, this Wraithcall, increases their compatibility between their armor and their flesh.
English is not the original language from midnight We’re Mexican, and we enjoy all doom content creators Doom community is one of the best community’s out there, let it stay that way, don’t be salty man
I just wanted you to know that you're by far the best RU-vidr who covers Doom. Like. It's not even close. Thank you for being you and supporting the franchise I love.
I think Novik is the Marauder. Makes sense to me that once Argent D'Nur was conquered by Hell, he was one of the casualties and has been corrupted. Him calling the Slayer "a false idol" and a "usurper" could be in reference to the Slayer taking his former mantle of leader of the Sentinels.
My theory about the Doom Slayer and the Marauder is that they're brothers and Marauder was killed, resurrected and corrupted at some point before Doom. The leader(s) sends Marauder in hopes of killing the Doom Slayer, steal his soul and corrupt him. But the Marauder subconsciously hates at what he had become and wants his brother to kill him, so that he will atone for letting himself been corrupted and committing horrible things in Hell's name. Thoughts?
One thing to take note about original Doom Guy is Doom64 (sequel to Doom II) ends with you being trapped in hell. There is a Pre-Order promotion for Doom Eternal that includes Doom64.
....yes that might be ...sort of like elves become goblin ...we will shurely know the origin of hell at the end...also the art from Samuels desk makes sence...i know someone speculated this on doomworld once.
So you made a quote here. Talking about the Betrayer's Son. Here is my opinion based upon grammar structure. The quote you show is "For his payment, the betrayer's son was returned to him in our form, and the Icon of Sin was brought upon the heathens. His vengeance was swift and merciless, for the wages of treachery are suffering." So in my opinion the way that is written is thusly follows this logic. Starts like, "For His Payment" His meaning The Betrayer. Then it goes "The Betrayer's Son was returned to him" First thing i noticed is it says WAS returned to him. Meaning that his Son is alive and or was alive but then it goes "in our form." To me that means he was changed into their form or kind. Now, it goes on to say "and the Icon of Sin was brought upon the heathens. His vengeance was swift and merciless, for the wages of treachery are suffering." To me the way it's written as "and the Icon of Sin" denotes it is separate from the new form and returning of the betrayer's son. It also denotes that the ICON OF SIN was something that existed before the betrayer's son had been brought back to him. To me the theory for Horned Demon Sentinel being The betrayer's son is absolutely correct. They Can't be the same thing as the Icon of Sin. If the heathens are people who did these demons wrong, well wrong in their eyes then the calling of the Icon of Sin to take Vengeance upon them doesn't match with the idea of the Betrayer's son being resurrected in their form. After a resurrection, what would he have to take vengeance on the heathens for? It sounds and is written to me to be completely separate things done at the same time. So treachery is also mentioned. Then, in that context the heathens betrayed them and they called the Icon of Sin.
It makes me so happy that id is still paying homage to the original Doom team. This is definitely one of the things that draws me to the new game, having played the original Doom when it was new. The model of the Doom Eternal plasma rifle are a perfect example. You can tell the current Doom Eternal developers were heavily influenced by the original. The sincerest form of flattery is imitation. The devs loved the original Doom so they are passionate about this game. It is not just an opportunity to make a few bucks.
I think that khan makyr was generous and wanted followers so she gifted knowledge and argent energy to the sentinels but after seeing how quickly hell and the sentinels were advancing she did something about it most likely killing the betrayer's son and sent Deag Grav to make the betrayer an offer he cant refuse and deemed the campaign of hell penance so no-one would think to rise against them apart from the doom slayer of course
I cant remember from where but i think the slayer testements of Doom 2016 there is a line that stuck with me, for the rise of great ones civilizations must fall. Back then i thought it ment the rise of titans, but on the hell levels i once saw like a coleseum floating, broken, diferent architecture from those buildings in those floating islands... what if it mentions the rise of great civilizations at the cost of the fall of others? What if heaven is just a civilization of men that risen up at the cost of creating hell as a byproduct (or itentional) to harvest whole civilizations souls, the greates source of power there is. They were tricking the sentinels into propagating through worlds like a farmer produces cattle only for in the end to harvest them all? and perhaps the wraiths were natural beings that were too strong to opose heaven and so they were conviniently eliminated, wich could imply heaven aproached Argent dnur because they were the only ones that could opose heaven
The icon of sin did not have a physical form. Now it has, the marauder is the icon of sin which is the son of the betrayer. that's why marauder has a doom slayer suit. make sense I guess
The Doom Eternal's lore and cutscenes are short, sweet, and right off the bat. It's more interesring, more digestable, and you really immerse yourself to the story than other games' lore and cutscenes.
I wonder if they're going to connect the new series to the old. I know they were hinting at it, and the slayer is straight up referred to as "the DOOM guy" by the UAC survivors, but it sounds like the sentinels have been to earth and Mars. Could it be that the sentinals found earth after the "Hell on Earth" invasion? All I know is that I want DOOM Eternal, and I want it now!
I thought that the sentinels came from a different parallel universe, rather than a different planet in our own universe, and the urdak from another parallel universe again, and hell in again, another universe. It has essentially been confirmed that there is a multi *verse* not a multi-dimensional solo universe. I might be wrong but i think this is it.
Off topic to the video so I do apologize for this but I want to leave my opinion on who the hooded figure is, to me its likely to be the betrayer as in every piece of art for the cover of DOOM eternal that has the hooded figure its always in the background avoiding the fight in favor of observing it from a safe distance. My reason for this is because of the cutscene we were shown of the interaction between the slayer and the betrayer as both are rather calm toward each other so I believe the hooded figure will be used as a way to either point the player in the direction they need to go and once they get close they will disappear, since the betrayer did sell out his entire race the fact that the two aren't exchanging attacks during that cutscene says that the two could of had some kind of bond between them, maybe the slayer was showing sympathy for him as he did want to have his son back but had dire consequences to the action, maybe the two were friends before he betrayed his entire race which could explain why the slayer is rather anti-social as every case he's not wanting to be in anyone's presence if he can help it but with the betrayer he seemed to have lingered a bit longer than he does with others aside from the betrayer giving him what he needed.
Is the lore book it the collectors edition like a smaller version of the art of doom eternal or actually a book the just skins over the plot and demons
My theory is Doom guy was from a future when 1 -3 take place then he was sent back in time and to the dimension of the Knight sentinels was trained even further by them and ultimately became the Doomslayer after they fell he blamed himself so he self banished himself to the hell Realm to punish himself and all of hell got trapped and then wakes in a similar future or his own hell for all we know he’s the marine you take the plasma rifle off of in doom eternal the marauder has even said you were never one of us a pretender just my crazy theory
soooo... the UAC marine never existed? or was that a different event... what should we make of doom, doom2, and doom3? where are they place on the timeline and who are those guys we played as?
If the theory about the demons being inferior beings that mutated because they couldn't adapt like the night sentinels Does that mean that we will be seeing "the rock" soon?
this makes me very confused as to what the doom slayer's origins are now. theres a clear link with the armour and how he knows the betrayer that makes it seem like hes from argenta, but then theres the fact that the khan makyr calls him a human and how he seems to resemble the doom 3 marine. either they gonna retcon the old games or we're missing some key info
The sentinels armor could be an omage to the slayers armor. Like its not the slayers armor that looks like the night sentinels armor but rather the night sentinels armor looks like the slayers armor. At this point I think they are making all games cannon and most likely this guy is either the same from doom3 or his alternative from yet another universe not played by any game. But earth being his people definetly links him to us
If the Marauder is the Betrayer’s son, since we fight him the 3rd act of the game, it might be after we kick (sorry I meant RIP AND TEAR) the Icon of Sin’s ass and they resurrect him?... again?...
I’m gonna skit this video unfortunately, I’m usually ok with spoilers but all this info so soon seems like a bit much for me, I’m just gonna wait until, the game comes out and read the codex myself, see ya in 2 months
Honestly in my opinion I think they should of made the doom slayer the betrayer, because it would of made so much sense why he hated hell and the demons so much. It would also make his character far more tragic being that his own son is the icon of sin, and even after betraying his own people he didn't get what he wanted and so he became incorruptable by hell. Well that was my take before it was confirmed that betrayer is a separate person. But I'm still very infested in how the story goes.
The doom slayer might be the son of the betrayer. When we first meet the slayer it was in a tomb, in the story of doom the son was killed and the father ask for power from hell to resurrect his son. Then the slayer awakens and later we meet the betrayer. His betrayal led to the down fall of the knight sentinels and he said himself that he wanted to be in the place we find him, he put himself there. The mirador may not be a random knight sentinel demon slayer but one who fought with the doom slayer when he died and when the father became the betrayer. He may want vengeance on the doom slayer because his father the betrayer caused all of this to happen just to bring him back. Think about why the slayer has so much hatred, imagine being dead for your cause and having a honorable death and your father betrayed everything you both stood for and turned everything into ruin. Then you wake up from being dead seeing all you fought and died for destroyed all because your dad missed you.
i reckon the argent energy is the wraiths call an people would mutate and be driven mad and only when hell conquerd argent dnur the mutated remnants become demons and possessed and the titans become demons
I believe the Marauder is the son of the Betrayer and am guessing that the Icon of Sin was was introduced contemporaneously. ID is screwing with us all with these little clues here and there and ambiguous language. The lore they are creating is amazing and I cannot wait until all is revealed. I am still unsure about a ton of the lore, which I believe is ID's intention. As much as I want to believe that Doom Guy is the Doom Slayer, I just cant see it happening. I am a very casual gamer at best but am trembling with excitement for Eternal. This will literally be the first game I buy as soon as it is released, although given my current schedule and home life, I may just end up waiting for it to be released on the Switch. Having young kids and a stacked work schedule is not conducive for me being able to escape to the basement for the PS4 or PC at this point. Its easier just to play in bed at night before sleep.
"The high and mighty judge us to be unworthy of eternal life, and so we shall rip ourselves from our mortal coils and aim armageddon at the pearly gates. We shall burn our souls in the furnace of industry, use our bones to stoke the flames, and with the molten gold build our own paradise. And when he rains down on us we will respond in kind, and rend the very stars in the heavens asunder should they become our foes."
Midnight confirmed the Marauder is just another fallen night sentinel, which is a disappointment, I was hoping he was the failed Doom 3 game guy and he was Jealous of us so he joined hell for revenge.
On the map outbreak there are these eggs can you explain or find out what they are because they are weird and what is that thing in ritual the giant creature
I'm somewhat confused of who exactly Doom Slayer is. In that game cutscene it looks as if D.S. is human as that king says that humanity is of Sentinel's blood. So then, would D.S. be human? More so, what made D.S. go berserk? Idk, all of this is confusing, too many characters, or I'm missing something. Help?
Night Sentinels are aliens that look like humans. Doomslayer is human, and is looking more than likely to be the OG doomguy from 1993, after he stayed in Hell at the end of Doom 64.
Who's the doom slayer like his name and about his family... We know everything about bj blazkowicz and role in wolfenstein why can't we know about the doom slayer
No, 2016 never said Doom Slayer was the betrayer, or that he had a son, the betrayer and the Doom Slayer were always mentioned as two different people.
GUYS GUYS GUYS!!! The Night-Sentinels are the Martians! DOOM 3 is canon! They created the Soul Cube! Humans are their descendants! Both the Martians and Night-Sentinels migrated to other planets, including Mars' moons and Earth! Just AAAAAAA
@@Ragingknight12 yeah, there is only one way to make his theory true - if it's alternative Earth it is a thing bc it seems like ID want to confirm sadly for me that Doomguy is the Slayer and in DOOM and Wolfenstain RPG (which confirmed my Tom Hall to be canon) there was shown that D3 is in the timeline of OG games, and that DG is BJ's relative (he is N generation of his kin). I do not like this idea tbh, bc it will be a mess - new Wolf have a hints that nazi used argent energy and Youngblood straight said about alternative worlds, which means that now we have a relative of BJ in the alternative Earth where lived his alternative granhrandgrandfather. And not to mention Quake Champions rebooted the lore of the og Quakes - now Visor for example is not a strogg but a clone. Quake was a part of ID verse and even Old Blood had a church of Elder Gods from Quake Champions. Demons in manuals of previous dooms was explained very differently. I am really sad they end up Marvel cheap jumping between canons instead of one stable story and that Slayer is very possibly some sort of bunny-lover without a background just for the sake of fanservice. Lore-wise DOOM is DOOMed for me, but i still goin to love it's gameplay.
Виталий Пиньковський That about sums it up. I'm surprised you got nothing wrong. A lot of people assume stuff like Doomguy is Flynn Taggart, Doomguy is BJ's grandson, stuff like thy. However, it's all but confirmed that this is an alternate earth. Doomguy stayed in Hell after DOOM 64, when he noticed people from a different universe in the same Hell.
