Previously i had Doom 3 BFG edition to play all of the Doom game's in 1 place, And now with eternal, we have 3 ways to play the original: 1. Buy original game's them self's 2. BFG edition 3.Doom eternal.
Interesting Fact: The game devs put in a reference to Markiplier's father in the game as a tribute/thank you to Mark and the book on the shelf is called "How to Comb your Mustache"
@@nix6940 Because Mark was introduced to the world of videogames by DOOM thanks to his father and he appreciates the creators for it and how it holds a special place in it's heart. To return back the favor, Bathesda put that easter egg.
...except Doom was famous for how hard it do a good port on 90s console hardware. The first feature complete port was probably the version included in the collector's edition of Doom 3 on the original Xbox.
@@Elvisbackpack yeah, but assuming its the same engine as DOOM & DOOM II, it pretty much counts anyhow. On that curiosity though, has anyone actually ported the original DOOM to 64?
Apparently, they are his hallucinations, he misses his poor rabbit so much, he thinks they are in random places. He lost his santly while fighting off hell for eons. (Not sure where I saw this fact, but its rather interesting
@@samfishertags4904 I was butchering Demons once and the background sound made in sound like the spokes person said penis I laughed. So hard I nearly craped my self
2:40 It's confirmed that the doomslayer blasts the DOOM soundtrack into his earholes as he rips and tears by the file "rip and tear_MIX.mp3 on his computer.
@@the_mse in-game, I think he actually made these tracks. Ofc irl the extremely talented Mick Gordon made the soundtrack but in cannon the Doomslayer has multiple guitars and I doubt he doesn't use them.
Its not confirmed, but its certainly a possibility, considering Khan Maykr seems to directly reference her when she tries to bargain near end of the game.
12:27 There is more to this secret. You can find 3 balloons on this level, if you shoot them all, a cake will appear in the middle of the arena with a powerup. If you pick it up, two Tyrants will spawn in. Plus there is a giant party hat on top of the super gore nest.
I played the game recently and noticed that to it was a really funny refrence I was yelling "GET TO ZEEE CHOPPAAA!" the entire time while fighting my way throught that part of the level
patrick Katalenas you may have figured it out by now, but the developers of DOOM decided to commemorate Markiplier’s dad on that thick red/orange book named “How to comb your mustache” by Cliffton M. Fishbach. The reason why it was added was due to Markiplier telling them how important DOOM is to his life and how his father brought him into gaming.
The Easter egg at 8:20 is a reference to a part of a wall texture in one of the original doom maps in doom 2016 that was infamously flipped upside down, which is why you’re able to rotate it and it congratulates you.
The big red book on the shelf next to the Doomslayer toy is called " how to comb your mustache" by Cliffton M. Fischbach. It's an easter egg to Markiplier's dad.
I wanted to point this out. There is actually an easter egg that only rabbit owners will understand. My sibling has been big into rabbits for years so I get it. If you look on the bag of food to the left of the cage the brand is "binkies". For those of you not in the know occasionally when rabbits are really happy and/or excited they'll basically short circuit and jump straight up in the air out of nowhere. Rabbit owners call these "binkies".
There’s a memorial to TotalBiscuit in the Super Gore Nest mission. There’s a top hat sitting on top of a chair, with a sign below reading “slay cancer.”
The Easter Egg about the classic textures is, I believe, about when some of the textures for the classic maps in Doom 2016 were misaligned, this apparently pissed off enough people that ID software just added it there. Hence the children/baby celebration sound when you interact with it.
The "How to Comb your mustache" book is a reference to Markiplier's father. They added that because they knew Markiplier was a fan of the original Doom, and the team had him test out the gameplay battling the Marauder.
@@Rob-zs7mm ultra nightmare in fact doesn't have lives, most of the places lives were just have sentinal armour that fills up armour and I think health
At the start of the video (around 30 second in) when it shows Daisy’s head on a spike it always sends shivers down my spine. Just the way she looks at the camera. It really gives you a sense of The Slayer™️ (yes I know it doesn’t need that but I find it funny) and his anger and the one of the main reasons why he really because such a *GOD* So yeah it’s a disturbing scene but it really is a deep lore filled scene
@@bethfoster4311 Lemmy Kilmister was the bassist of Hawkwind and bassist/frontman of Motörhead. He is seen as a God in heavy metal music for his songwriting, bass playing ability, and his ability to take in enough drugs, booze, and cigarettes to be able to keep up with Ozzy Osbourne.
A doom meme I had forgotten about had been bugging me for so long and something in this video reminded me and brought it back "and then John was a zombie" good memories
I also noticed that. He was like,” And there’s another really good Easter egg on this shelf! It’s The Life and Times of Flynn Taggart!” And we all were like,” What about Mark’s dad’s book”
2:35 actually i think that the funniest one is a magazine that i found that is about the BFG 10000 and it says "AND YES ITS OVER 9000" Which is obviously a reference to dragon ball where Vegeta said ITS OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND
Doomguy and John Wick have this in common: John Wick **Single handedly takes down Russian mafia because of a dog** Doomguy: **Single handedly takes down hell because of a rabbit**
Also, on number eight next to the doll the is a book called, “how to comb your mustache”, and the author is Markiplier’s dad, it’s there because DOOM is one of the first games Mark played
9:16 I've seen so many people in streams and lets plays be extremely confused with the blue ball. I knew it was Supercharged/Megahealth. I really appreciate that they recreated classic item pick-ups from pixels to now.
@@rffrice It's a soulsphere. The Megasphere in Doom 2 was white and a demonic face on it. I know, because i'm still playing the hell out of Brutal Doom.
Gotta love that it's October 16th 2020 and I'm just now being recommended this video! Way to go RU-vid your algorithm is working as you intended it to!
*My favorite is the book about the Spear of Destiny. Because it predates the Doom storyline back to the very first CyberDemon (Balgaar Demon) fought in one of the Wolfenstein games* ✅🙂
@ꓘ〣K "mark player" lol Basically mark said that the original doom was one of his first games and meant a lot to him and the devs wanted to do something special for mark, now mark's father's name will forever be inside of a great game
4:26 on one of Markiplier’s Doom Eternal vids, he talks about how the big book next to the Doom Guy toy is a reference to his father bc he talked to the developers and told them about how it was something deeply connected to him, the name at the bottom of the book side of that one (under the Mustache bit) is his dad’s name :) fun fact
The book naming "Tei Tenga" is itself a reference to classic Doom & the Doom bible, Tei Tenga was originally going to be one of the locations planned for a UAC installation, Tei Tenga itself being either an actual planet or a planetary moon installation as well. There are Computer screen panel textures in the Classic Doom that read "Tei Tenga" across the texture's main screen
My favorite is The how to comb your mustache book. It really shows how humble and grateful they are for their fanbase that they put a youtubers Dads names in the game because he told them how much doom meant to him and his dad. It's just wholesome.
lol i take it you watched The Easter Egg Hunter's video? That's not actually in the game, it's just something he added to his video. Go check out the multiple videos of people showing the end credits and there's nothing there.
I love that the enemies are back to a more classic style. Doom 2016 was amazing but felt like something was missing I guess. Well the modern classic look hooked me in immediately with Doom Eternal and I would have to say they improved what they did in 2016 by alot.
It could be argued that the pizza boxes in the Slayer's room are a reference to Dante from the Devil May Cry series, as one of his big character quirks is that he fucking loves pizza (whenever it shows his place, he always is eating pizza and there are empty pizza boxes everywhere), and he is also a demon slayer.
10:21 I was wondering what that was. I've played a lot of games and watched a lot of movies based off of games (vise versa) but I had no clue what that was.
Something I realized is that when the lore pages in doom eternal mentioned the betrayer's son being in the heart of the icon of sin, it was a reference to that guy's head being inside the icon of sin in the original game.
Wait but the final boss isn't an Easter egg, or a secret? It's, _the final boss._ I feel like it's kind of hard to miss that kind of thing. To be honest I think someone just couldn't find a 10th Easter egg for this video.
They could have mentioned that in Doom 2, the ending text describes the Icon of Sin as a gigantic monster, not just a face on the wall, so that the Doom Eternal version is probably what the original devs had envisioned
The icon of sin isn't a reference, nor Easter egg, its just a returning boss battle, if he is a reference, why isn't the Pain Elemental? These things in the video just pissed me off and I don't know why... Maybe I need to take my meds...
@@kanseidorifto2430 there is one in the game, it just wasnt showcased here. There's a poster of a Lost Dog named Griffin who was, "Last seen with a branded swordsman."
